Mauldin status

St. Mary’s High girls basketball star Danielle Mauldin sat out tonight’s NCS Division IV quarterfinal game against Cloverdale as a precautionary measure after suffering a knee injury in the Bay Shore Athletic League finals, St. Mary’s coach Nate Fripp confirmed. Maudlin is expected to play in the NCS semifinals on Wednesday.

NCS Hoops Bracket Challenge leaderboard — Day 3

I’m trimming the fat a little bit to only include those who completed all the brackets. Those are the only ones who will contend anyway, so it makes a little less tallying work for me. Also, there were a few who originally submitted a bracket in time and were credited with those points, but it was incomplete and so after the deadline they completed the bracket. Those entire brackets are now invalid. It doesn’t affect anyone who is on the leaderboard, but thought I’d point that out. Kyle is pulling away a bit, but there are still several in contention. This round is definitely where the contenders are being separated from the pretenders.

OAL playoff schedule — UPDATED

Even with the regular season still not officially over (McClymonds hosts Oakland today to close play in a make up of their game that was postponed), the Oakland Athletic League playoff schedule is already finalized. Even if Mack upset Oakland today it can’t climb above fifth place. So here is the schedule:

UPDATED: Apparently the OAL jumped the gun when it released the boys basketball brackets. With Mack’s win over Oakland on Friday to get the Warriors to 5-5, there is a three-way tie for third between Mack, Fremont and Oakland Tech. Following the league’s tie-breaker policy, Mack gets the third seed, Fremont the fourth and Tech the fifth. So below are the revised pairings.

Live blog from NCS wrestling finals

Calling all wrestling fans! The North Coast Section championships get underway today at Newark Memorial High and continue tomorrow. In case you missed it, check out the preview in today’s paper by Ben Enos. I will be on hand for tomorrow’s championship matches to provide live blogging action as the best wrestlers in the section compete for an NCS title.
