The record-breaking De La Salle running back confirmed Saturday evening that he has accepted a grayshirt offer to play for Oregon State.
The Beavers were the only program to show genuine interest in the Bay Area News Group East Bay Player of the Year. He visited Corvallis on the weekend of Jan. 23-24. He came home without an offer, and played phone tag with the coaching staff for a couple weeks. After not hearing from OSU on Wednesday (the first day recruits were allowed to sign), Ward told us he was leaning toward taking a preferred walk-on opportunity at Cal. Apparently, the Beavers’ changed their mind about the 2,000-yard running back.
For a clarification on exactly what a grayshirt offer is, Recruiting-101.com has a fairy easy-to-understand explanation. Read it here.

The OSU family is getting a great kid in Terron Ward. I been watching this kid since he was 8 years old. He will do the same thing as Jones Drew. Go AYF He is the real deal. I feel soory for the Ducks for not signing him.

Jimmy or Chace did Damante Horton sign with WSU?? On the Cream of the Crop on insidebayarea.com it had him down as undecided. I thought he was the first recruit they got.

Yes, he signed with WSU. I’ll have to look back at the Crop listed. It shouldn’t have said undecided. He was indeed the first of the wave of guys to commit to WSU.
