NCS Hoops Bracket Challenge

Back by popular demand — and revamped for 2010 — is the North Coast Section basketball playoffs bracket challenge. At stake here is the all important ETERNAL GLORY! We’re going to make things a bit tougher for you guys this year as you’ll be forced to fill out your entire bracket before the tournament begins. Choose wisely, because you won’t be able to make new selections after each round. You’ll be picking both the boys and girls, Divisions I-VI, so be prepared to bone up on your Ferndale and Rincon Valley Christian knowledge just as much as Salesian, Bishop O’Dowd, Newark Memorial, Berkeley and everyone else. Of course, you can only choose to predict the brackets that your interested in, but it’ll make it hard to gain Eternal Glory that way. Below is the link and let the picking begin. Deadline for Divisions I-III is 5 p.m. on Tuesday and for Divisions IV-VI is 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Good luck. Standings will be posted after each round.

*A tip for when you visit the link and make your selections. When you click on a bracket to do the predictions, open it in a new window. That way when you are ready to go to the next bracket, you can go back to that page and open the next bracket in a new window.

ahhh… the quest for eternal glory begins

  • Kyle Bonagura

How has eternal glory changed your life?

  • donfan

best way i can put it….. it feels like dumping warm clothes right out of the dryer on top of you.. times 10. Now i ask… is it possible to get eternal glory, TWICE? I feel like that is just rude.

  • E_CULB

So this will only be done for NCS? What about NorCal’s?

  • E_CULB

I’m clueless as to how to get this thing going someone who has done it give a little help.

  • Prep Fan

I agree, this is a little (lot) confusing. I clicked around and saw some brackets, but where do you make the predictions? All the picks need to be in for D1-D3 in the next 21 hours.

Jimmy, can you give us some more tips? Or is this just a trick to make sure only the wisest can get through to challange for Eternal Glory?

  • Jimmy Durkin

    Hey guys,
Sorry that’s its a little bit confusing. So here’s what you need to do. Click on the link above that says North Coast Section basketball. That will bring up a page that has all the brackets listed. Click on the first one, Division I boys. Then click on the link in the upper left corner that says Predict It! That will bring up a page for you to login. I’m assuming most of you don’t have an account for that site, so you’ll need to click where it says New User? Register Here and set up an account. An e-mail will be sent to you with your password. Take that password and click the link in the e-mail and login. It will then bring you back to the bracket, where you can finally fill in your bracket. I know it’s a bit longwinded, but this still is a lot easier of a system than what we’ve done in the past, as least on our end with totaling up the leaderboard.

  • Prep Fan

OK, that wasn’t so bad. Thanks for the tips Jimmy. They sent the e-mail with my password within a minute. I’ve gone in an entered my picks for D1 boys and it didn’t take long. You just need to hit enter after each round to get to make the picks for the next round.

Jimmy, they asked for a final score on the championship game, so I entered one. Is that going to be the tie-breaker for each division, or should we bother to enter those?

  • Jimmy Durkin

You actually can enter a score for any game you want, but yeah, if we need a tie-breaker we’ll probably use the championship game score.

  • XMustard

I’ve been out of the game for a while, but I threw out my predictions. What are we playing for? Can we get a Prep Corner T-shirt or sweatshirt? Throw us a bone, man!

  • Jimmy Durkin

You’re playing for Eternal Glory? Isn’t that better than a t-shirt? I wish we did have Prep Corner t-shirts though, that would be pretty cool.

  • Prep Fan

Eternal Glory let’s one stand tall. A t-shirt will eventually wear out, get stained or lost. My picks are in, for better or worse. It is harder to make all the picks up front, as you don’t get to see how teams are playing along the way, but a little bit of work up front, and no more predictions until the results are announced.

Good luck to all. Is The Whistle playing this year?

  • High School Sports Junkie

Da Junkie is in the house…. been quiet for a while but my predicts are in and I am tired of those close calls all these years

  • Prep Corner’s first blogger

Since I was the very first person to post a blog on Prep Corner and with the old ANG crew sparked the dismissal of the CCT blog (since our page views killed theirs), I figure I might as well jump in on these predictions. The Cheap Seats is bout to take down the Whistle, the Tower, At the Buzzer and The Mustard!

  • donfan

    eternal glory certificate > Tshirt

  • High School Sports Junkie

Looks like I am classified as a late entry, even though none of the games started before my predicts I saw later that the time is 5pm oh well

  • Jimmy Durkin

    Junkie,
Don’t worry, I still received your picks and since they came in before the games started, I will still count them. A few others came in right after 7 p.m. and I’ll count those as well. I don’t think we had any finals by then.
