Sootless or should i say Mr. Veronin or however you spell it. why dont you just stay home instead of embarassing yourself and your family when you go to games. OHHHH i forgot Washington’s season is over. Didnt they lose to De LA Salle?? I thought you said that Washington would give De La Salle a run for its money?? HMMMMM. Better luck next year. maybe your kid would have had a chance to go D1 if he went to Newark. But if he was good enough im sure those guys from Newark would have been all over him. Maybe he could have got a car out of Newark or some money. LOL You guys are a joke Stop hating on everyone its getting really old. Go grab another beer at he bar and enjoy the games.

people can call this whatever they want, i don’t really care where kids go and where they are from but i will bet anything that NM and Cv will both have transfers from outside there district next year as well and also have incoming frosh from outside there district on there respective teams, like is said i really don’t care but you have to admit it is a disadvantage to everyone else thats all i think we need to acknowledge

bhouse, i am kinda with u on this one, its like on the one hand who cares, but on the other hand its a fact that they have kids that play out of their district,but it really takes a good coach to have a successful program and even if the other schools got some of the same talent they might not even know what to do with it. ashmore is a good coach. and we shouldn’t be bad mouthin players on here to get our points across

If you want to support and defend the coaches, athletic director and other representatives of the Newark Memorial athletic department (ie Wily Clark) as they boldly continue to URGE and ENTICE students (K.J. and Junior) who do not attend their school to transfer their attendance to Newark Memorial for the purpose of athletic participation… fine and good luck living with yourself.
That my brother and sisters makes you cheaters so why don’t you just admit it ? Workaholic or should I call you Cheat-a-holic…I guess you are a defender of all the cheating, lying and yes recruiting you high school does you sick puppy you. Coach Ashes, AD Swift should be fired ASAP for they are corrupt people who are encouraging our youth to cheat. As for you Wildcat Wily… if you live in Ardenwood why doesn’t your kid go to school in Fremont?

Bbfan please…The next thing you’ll be telling me is Newark didn’t try to RECRUIT the Jordan Barton kid either…Well they did and he decided to stay at O’Dowd. Junior may stay at O’Dowd (THAT’S GOOD!) but he has been RECRUITED by Newark and that’s not good… That just wrong!
Here another one…If Ashmore couldn’t recruit would still win?

sootless, sure everyone inquired, but when junior made his decision to go to bishop ashmore did nothing but commend him and wish him the best of luck and every time he sees him, he gives him a firm hanshake and tells him to keep up the good work and has never tried to influence him to think about transferring. I do see why you would be upset,but i think ashmore is a good coach and that washington has alot of talent,too.

YES..I have agree Washington had the TALENT to beat Newark this year.
Answer me this… if Washington had raided the MVAL (picked off one on JFKs all leaguers or got Andrews) and recruited TALENT the way Newark has done and continues… like they are doing with (K.J. from Washington) at this moment (care to comment Wildcat?) over the years they WOULD have won this year case closed.
Answer me this…does Ashmore win without recruiting? I don’t think so!
Newark wanted Andrews and Newark got Andrews (and as illegal/unethical as it is Wildcat Wily, AD Swift and Coach Ash always get their recruit).
Tell me Newark doesn’t recruit and I’ll tell you the world is flat.
Isn’t that REALLY the difference in who was top dog in the MVAL in 2010?

Funny how you don’t mention how boggs used to GET all the Newark kids in the early 90s. Notice the emphasis on GET not recruit. Kids wanted to play for boggs. Recruiting is a very serious offense in high school sports. I don’t think it’s right for someone to accuse someone of this. You are calling someone a cheater and a liar. Funny how you do it on a website instead of face to face. Grow up!!
If they are recruiting then don’t you thing ncs, cif would have stepped in by now??

What is athletic recruiting? This sums it up dead on …
“Athletic recruiting is any attempt by any employee or athletic department staff member of an member school, or a representative of the school’s athletic interests, to pressure, urge or entice a student who does not attend that school to transfer his/her attendance there for the purpose of athletic participation.
This occurs when the school employee, athletic department staff member or representative of the school’s athletic interests makes improper
contact with the student or a member of his/her family in an effort to pressure or urge the student to go to that school OR promises, offers or gives the
student an impermissible benefit in an effort to entice the student to go to that school.”

#1 How does the Florida High School Athletic Association policies have any impact on the Bay Area?
#2 You need to grow up. Kids want to play for Newark because it is a great basketball program with a great coach so of course they will want to go there. Maybe if Washington won more games then kids would want to go there to play basketball.

Don’t waste your time Giants fan, sootless won’t listen to anyone! People have come on here and said that Ashmore has never talked to their kid and sootless still cries. He knows nothing of the history of Newark he only talks about the last four years. Facts Newark has been winning for along time, Fact Willy does not work for Newark! Fact, it is none of our business why Willy sent his kids to Newark, I do know that he was not impressed with any of the fremont schools.Fact, if parents really want to go to your school I don’t care who talks to them they will still go to your school. He ‘NEVER” adresses the issue of washington going all over thr fremont junior high schools inviting kids to their open gyms. Don’t say what is going to happen prove something.

California interscholastic federation states and this is a summary… ” a STUDENT/ATHLETE regardless of what city or district they live is under no obligation to attend the same high school where they reside or where that junior high schools district is stationed. Once a student is ENROLLED in the school he or she is then obligated to attend that school. If there is a transfer must first go through the district they are enrolled in then to accepting district or school… After that if there are any challeges/ discrepancies they will be seen by the commite sanctioning that area…”
as I read this it is my understanding that no kid is the property of any school. Regardless of where they attend elementary, junior high school.
Notice California not Florida…
Sootless you are getting put in your place. Probably bout time for you to give it up. You sound like a bitter person. Let the kids play. Let the parents do what is necessary for their child. My kids went to Newark. They did not play sports but did attend. Ashmore was a teacher of my kids and they enjoyed him very much. Great person great teacher great coach. Case closed.

Time for all of you to go scratch you dirty necks. Just admit you have been proven wrong and when someone has been “schooled’ like you guys have they tend is to scratch their necks, while looking off or away so start scratching.
As for me I’m proud to be on the right side the ethical side of this debate. What’s morally right in Florida is morally right in California… what don’t you get about that? What does Local Coach mean when he says “Ashmore has never talked to their kid” when Ashmore and Clark are currently trying to pull “KJ “one of WSH best player over to Newark.. right now and that’s a FACT you chumps seem to NOT want to not want talk about? How can you defend these snakes?

KJ is a very promising Washington High School basketball player (going to be a junior at WHS) an for sure one of if not the best player Washington High School will have in 2011. Wildcat Wily and Coach Ashmore have approached him MORE THAN ONCE to get him to and jump to Newark. You can call that recruiting or you can call it undue influence but you would have to agree it’s just wrong! Newark has got away with this for year but even the mighty Mater Dei has been placed on probation for Recruiting Violations. Newarks time to be placed on probation is now! Kyle you got your smoking gun so run with it. You take this one to the bank!

Not playing dumb, I don’t follow washington at all, so I don’t know who K.J. is so if you say that he is good then I will go with that. If he is already at your school I would think that he will stay there. Will he get better playing at washington no but that is his home school. I don’t know who is talking to this kid but I do believe that with all that is going on I don’t think that Ashmore would talk to or touch a kid already at your school. Once again that is my opinion! He has no control on what other people or parents do or say. If this K.J’s parents are commited to washington then there is nothing to worry about. If what you say is true than the parents should have no trouble proving that the head coach of the best team in the league came up to their son or them and told them that their son should transfer.

K.J. would be to be one of WHS best players next year but Newark is aggressively recruiting him. Wildcat Wily and the Ashmores have approached him not once but [SEVERAL TIMES] to try and convince him to play for Newark next year. Recruiting talent form outside their school district boundaries is how Newark wins. That’s just a fact. Coach Ashmore (the master of undue influence) is unethical and should step down as coach. His program should be put on probation.

The recruiting of KJ by Newark Memorial really stinks! One week Ashmore tells Mike Trip (WSH AD & coach) he wants to make the MVAL stronger and more respected and then he goes and tries to recruit away one of his best players.
If you would like this to stop I would like to encourage others out there to send in your Newark Memorial recruiting stories. If you want to stop the recruiting…the more smoking guns the better! Again, check your local papers for a story on all this at your local news stand soon!
