Holy Names High freshman Sasha Wallace won the triple jump today at the James Logan Top 8 Track and Field Invitational with an outstanding mark of 40 feet even. Entering last week, only two high school girls triple jumpers in the state had marks that were longer under any conditions, according to DyeStatCal.com.
James Logan’s Ciarra Brewer, the defending state champion in the girls triple jump, did not compete in the triple jump or long jump due to a lingering hamstring injury, confirmed James Logan coach Lee Webb. St. Elizabeth’s Ashton Purvis, the defending girls 200 state champ and state leader in the 100 and 200 this season, was entered in both events, but competed in the Brutus Hamilton Invitational at Cal today.
