Lacrosse Notes: League races winding down

As expected, it was an absolute battle on the boys side of the East Bay Athletic League in 2010.
That battle is not yet over.

Here are the most likely scenarios:
Foothill beats Amador Valley, and clinches the league title because of two head-to-head wins over De La Salle.
The Falcons have their hands full, however, having lost to the Dons already and having to play them at home. If Foothill loses, De La Salle just needs to win to clinch the league. The Spartans are likely to win, facing a California team that is 3-10 in league, and which De La Salle beat 20-7 earlier in the year.
If Foothill and De La Salle lose, that would make those two teams and Amador Valley 10-4 in league. The winner of the San Ramon Valley/Monte Vista game will also be 10-4, so it looks like there would be several co-champs in that scenario.
The Diablo Foothill Athletic League was wrapped up in thrilling fashion on Tuesday night as Alex Nicolaou capped off a comeback from a 7-2 deficit, scoring the game-winning goal in double overtime as Miramonte clinched the league with its second win over Acalanes. With a win, the Dons would have just needed to beat Dougherty Valley to win the league.
Berkeley and Piedmont share the Bay Shore Athletic League crown, both finishing at 6-2 and beating the other once, while Clayton Valley went a perfect 8-0 in the Diablo Valley Athletic League to claim the crown once again.
On the girls side…
Monte Vista wrapped up the EBAL crown long ago, which is impressive considering how competitive the league is. The Mustangs are 19-0 and still the top team in the state.
Acalanes is a perfect 11-0 in the DFAL and has that league wrapped up while an out of area team, Davis, has won the BSAL, finishing four games ahead of Berkeley and five ahead of Bishop O’Dowd.

Rankings

Ranking the boys side is still not easy, except the decision to put Foothill No. 1. Clearly playing the best lacrosse, yet again. This EBAL race is crazy.
