Had a chance to speak with Pinole Valley’s Travis Feeney today about his recent oral commitment to Arizona for the 2011 season. Here’s what will be in tomorrow’s paper.
Pinole Valley High football player Travis Feeney has orally committed to play at Arizona in 2011, the versatile defender said Friday.
Feeney’s biggest weapon as a Wildcat could be his ability to play several positions. Listed at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, Feeney played safety for the Spartans as a junior, will start at middle linebacker this season and said Arizona recruited him to potentially play cornerback.
“It’s a big challenge. I’ve got to learn a whole new spot again,” Feeney said.
Arizona was the first school to offer Feeney a scholarship. He said he also heard from Washington, Cal and Oregon but decided that he wanted to end the process before his senior season.
“Everybody else was telling me to wait but I couldn’t take the risk of losing a paid education,” he said.
