It occurs to me that we didn’t report anything from last week’s junior college opener between Shasta and Diablo Valley College. So, I checked in with Vikings coach Mike Darr and got some info on the game.
The Vikings, who beat Shasta 38-14, finished week one of JC play ranked No. 1 in the state in total offense with 589 yards. QB Joey Bradley also found himself atop the state rankings in passing, going 25 for 46 for 439 yards and three touchdowns. One of the TDs was to former San Ramon Valley WR Greg Wilson, a 54-yard pitch and catch on the second play of the game. 10 different receivers had receptions in the win.
On the defensive side of the ball, DVC allowed just 174 yards. That was good for No. 5 in total defense. The Vikings allowed 84 yards passing, had 12 tackles for loss and forced three turnovers.
