Kennedy-Richmond at Hercules: Eagles get their 2nd win on the road and move to 2-0 after beating Hercules
Berean Christian (2-0) at St. Patrick-St. Vincent (2-0): It will be St. Patricks and Healdsburg deep in the D-4 playoffs, everybody else in D-4 is simply a tune up.
St. Mary’s (0-1) vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral (2-0), at Kezar. St. Mary’s could have won this game last year but what a difference a year makes. Sacred Heart by 14.
San Ramon Valley (1-0) at Antioch (0-2): If anybody still believes Antioch can pull the upset of SRV, then they probably believe John McCain won the Presidential election two years ago. SRV huge win upcoming.
Monte Vista (0-1) at Pittsburg (0-2): Mustangs are good and Pitt is badly overrated with Pirate faithful still clinging to the game that will break things open for Pitt. Problem is that game won’t happen till Next year. MV wins this.
San Marin (2-0) at Acalanes (2-0). Dons got nice win over Hayward. San Marin is 2-0 for the first time since the Gold Rush of 1849. But Acalanes takes the prize at home and moves to 3-0.
St. Mary’s-Stockton (2-0) at De La Salle (1-0): The Rams make the trek from Stockton for a good first half battle against Sparta. DLS runs away with it and by the end of 3 quarters, DLS is up by 30 points.
Northgate (2-0) at Dougherty Valley (2-0): Northgate….NORTH…gate??? Yes, if you recall blogs of late August 2010, this focused blogger informed you that the Broncos would be good this year. DV is also tough too. Problem is, neither team has beaten a quality opponent yet. Look for Broncos to pass and DV to mostly run. Give the nod to the Broncos in a very good win on the road by 5 or 6 points.
Foothill (2-0) at James Logan (2-0): Sweeney’s Double Wing vs. Logan’s gamebreaking athletes? Toss up? Foothill beat a very much overrated Pitt team and a down Novato club, both wins matter though because Falcons only have a few playmakers. Logan has two wins of equal caliber, but Logan is at home and looking to score. Foothill must run for more than 150 yards on the night and throw for 150 in order to win. Logan has too many weapons and this game will be close until midway through the 3rd when the Colts runneth free to win.
St. Ignatius-San Francisco (0-1-1) at Bishop O’Dowd (1-0): Last year S.I. hammered a down BOD team in SF. This year S.I. is decent and BOD is filled with talent and the coaching has them fired up. BOD is looking to beat S.I. good, say Dragons by 21.
McClymonds (2-0) at McKinleyville (1-0): Last year McKinleyville rumbled down from the Redwoods and beat MacDaddy at home. But the economy has hurt the northwest and Mac is looking to payback a debt. Look for the Warriors to smack around the hometown McKinleyville team by 21 points.
Berkeley (1-1) at Marin Catholic-Kentfield (2-0): This is a tough call. Will the Yellowjackets show up big or wilt in the heat? MC is good and Berkeley is searching its soul. MC wins this gritty dual by 3 points in OT.
California School for the Deaf (2-0) at Indiana School for the Deaf (0-4): I told you CSD would be good this year, they will be undefeated again this week after flying to and from the Hoosier state to pick up a win.
Moreau Catholic (1-0) at Galileo-San Francisco (1-1): Mariners have lot to prove and it will be tough. They should have won their opener by a lot more and Galileo has a Division I RB by all accounts. Moreau will get to six wins this year but their 3rd win will come against a BSAL foe, as the Lions win this home game in SF and Mariners sink.
Encinal (1-0) at Serra-San Mateo (1-1): The game you have been waiting for. Jets lift off from Alameda and land in San Mateo. Problem is they are not good often in the daytime and even though Serra lost their Free Safety for the game, the Padres rebound and win a tough one by 14 points over Encinal.
September 16th, 2010 at 1:02 am
killerd ur bod score surprises me. St.i played alright vs marin c. Cant c dem losin by 20. Bod beat a bad alameda team. Is there a match up u like or st.i dont have da athletes to hang? If st.i can throw i like dem 27 17
September 16th, 2010 at 8:53 am
Looks like cunningham will be back on the field if you saw last week we need him. Island02 whats up with the defense very disappointed. Harvel needs more carries. Cunningham & harvel could be thunder n lighting.
September 16th, 2010 at 10:13 am
Cunningham back already sure did get that 1.2 gpa up quick. Im sure the odowd score wasnt the reason his grades improved. Must win for the hornets they got encinal berkeley and pinole after san lorenzo. De anza dont count officially the worst program in the bay
September 16th, 2010 at 11:03 am
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHATS ALL THE HYPE WITH BOD
AND DID ONE GUY MAKE THAT BIG OF A DIFFERENCE
September 16th, 2010 at 12:28 pm
I wish McCain HAD won the election.
September 16th, 2010 at 2:28 pm
killer d u say healdsburg n st.pats r the class of d4. u must know something i dont cuz niether team will hang wit marin catholic. blanton already took m.c of his non-league he dont want no part of them.
September 16th, 2010 at 3:08 pm
Looking over some topics from last year. This one is interesting. Shows you how much things can change in a year.

September 16th, 2010 at 3:46 pm
MC will certainly be petitioning back to DIII…we should know for sure by the weekend, Monday at the latest. Go Healdsburg!
September 16th, 2010 at 5:31 pm
Killer D, that’s twice I have heard the economy has hurt the Northwest, first with Ferndale and now Mckinnelyville. What does that mean? Are less students going out for football and working? Working ranches and farms- I know Ferndale had players working on farms at 5- 6 am in the morning before attending school. Are farmers/ranchers moving out of the area and their kids attending different schools?
September 16th, 2010 at 5:41 pm
I am Bill Johnson. I am Bill Johnson. I am Bill Johnson. Will the orginal Bill Johnson please stand up.
September 17th, 2010 at 8:14 am
BigJoe:
I have a few friends up in the Cali Norwest.
The economy has hatcheted the logging industry, and other local trades such as high end ecclectic art making/sales, farming, ranching, et al.
It is no small feat that two schools have dropped Varsity football or moved down to 9-man football.
People have left that region and are heading East towards Idaho, Utah and Colorado.
It will only get worse over the next couple of years.
The only thing that can save that region immediately is to Legalize Marijuana for sales commercially.
And, I for one am NOT, NOT a fan of doing that.
September 17th, 2010 at 8:15 am
FYI, and several families have yanked their kids out and are now Home schooling their kids up there too.
September 18th, 2010 at 4:05 pm
KillerD,
You should have stuck with your original prediction for Moreau…3-0 through the preseason. Today’s score: Moreau 48 Galileo 14
September 18th, 2010 at 4:52 pm
Yes, I missed that one on Moreau because I heard Galileo RB was amazing.
Moreau is for real and is a lock to win 6 games, maybe 7 or 8.
September 18th, 2010 at 4:53 pm
I will stick with Moreau to finish 2nd in Bsal as I had predicted.
September 18th, 2010 at 4:55 pm
Serra big over Encinal as I picked. But no surprise there, Serra is SUPPOSED to beat Encinal.
Encinal is good, very good though.
September 18th, 2010 at 5:00 pm
Well we lost. No excuses. But Island Bowl Next Friday! Jet Pride!
September 18th, 2010 at 5:01 pm
yup encinal lost killer d but if you think st.pats n especially moreau are gonna beat the jets your crazy. Will see down the road on those games but you did predict a hornet victory next week you still stand by that prediction?
September 18th, 2010 at 5:06 pm
MC beats Berkeley 28-20……tough game
September 18th, 2010 at 5:23 pm
thanks
September 18th, 2010 at 5:30 pm
Outsider…
What changed is Kravitiz saving that kids job by calling the O
September 18th, 2010 at 5:40 pm
Poor Pitt .. I don’t see them going better than 2-8 this year beating Berkeley and Antioch. Having seen Liberty demolish Clayton Valley, I feel they are very underated this year, as is Freedom and Heritage. Those pirates better watch out and wake up, or Granite Bay and Deer Valley will have them walking the Plank!! Arrrr!!!
September 18th, 2010 at 5:42 pm
I miss those days beating every EBAL team back to back NCS championship runner ups….

Mozee is going to carry this year
September 18th, 2010 at 5:54 pm
any score on the serra game?
September 18th, 2010 at 5:59 pm
Final Serra 42 Encinal 13
Yo Mama said.
September 18th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
I understand the Encinal-Serra score was just 21-13 Serra in the 3rd quarter. Looks like it got away from the Jets in the 4th- better conditioned Serra team.
Does that mean DLS could beat Encinal by 64?
September 18th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
BSAL could be wide open.
September 18th, 2010 at 6:09 pm
Final MC 28 BHS 20
Looks like they came back with a 2 pter also.
Long bus ride back across the San Rafael bridge- not as long as Encinal crossing the San Mateo. I rent an ambulance service out direct to Alameda.
September 18th, 2010 at 6:13 pm
Remember, better and faster players will beat disciplined, well coached , college bound players every time, but not these 2 times.
September 18th, 2010 at 7:58 pm
Top 20 Reasons to read KillerD’s last comments of the weekend. Have a good Sunday Gentlemen and Good Luck!
1. To 617Lemon…….NO way, with the RB debacle at Hornet Nest and fall out, I alter my pick officially. Jets will take a terrible Alameda team behind the Woodshed at Thompson Field and spank them all night long.
2. PITT will NOT beat Berkeley.
3. MC beat Berkeley today, I chose MC by 3 points
4. BSAL is wide open: St. Patricks, Encinal and Moreau to win it, one of those three will claim prize. Could be a 3-way tie?
5. Loving those Livermore Cowboys. Is it ME,,,or is East Bay Football better when Livermore is good?
6. Hold on a moment, Granada is GOOD too. WT….?
7. Who is calling the plays at Cal high? Belicci or Kravitz?
8. The Heritage at Logan this coming week WOULD have been a doooooooozy. But now that Logan went to ashes upon blowing a 20-point lead at Home and losing, Heritage will win this game at Logan by 21 points.
9. Berkeley at Pitt coming up. Nobody, nobody and absolutely nobody cares now that for the two teams there is only One win entering that woulda been good but now it is a borefest. Bummer because I have always rooted for both programs.
10. When was the LAST TIME Northgate was FAVORED TO WIN AT Las Lomas? Before the American Revolution or was it the 1800′s? I am picking the Broncos to pound Las Lomas and go 4-0.
11. Moreau goes to 3-0 non league (as I predicted weeks ago) after disposing of San Lorenzo Rebels by 14 points in Hayward this weekend
12. DLS was somehow looking ahead to the Bishop Gorman game coming up but they still beat the Rams. Look for DLS to rebound (how can you call it rebound after winning well vs. a good team)? DLS by 21 poingts over the Sanchez led BG team for his Homecoming.
13. Livermore at Dougherty Valley: BOTH programs are vastly improved and this might be one of the best games of the non-league season. Look for super stud Cowboy RB to score 4 TD’s and eventually the Cowboys pull away to win, making their record 3-0 since WHEN?
14. Granada will crush Castro Valley by 30 points.
15. CSD Rolls in Indiana now looking for payback next week as they host the Texas S for the D in a tussle of good teams
16. Hayward at Monte Vista? Hmmmmmmmm? Farmers? Farrrrrrrrrmmmmmmeeerrs? YES, Hayward STUNS MV at home and now the hordes of Alamo are calling for the WISHBONE to be installed instead of the Mustangs 4 and 5 wide attack. Farmers by 10 points in Stunner Upset
17. Calling All MT. EDEN fans, please move to the car pool lane as you drive to San Bruno. The Monarchs WILL Get their First win of the Season as they battle Capuchino in a 26-12 victory. Go Monarchs!
18. San Marin, Tamalpais and Marin Catholic are ALL UNBEATEN. Yes junior, there IS a Santa Claus. MC expected to be very good, but SAAAANNNN MArin? What are they putting into those vineyards of Chardonnay grapes?
19. BEFORE the season, I said Mission San Jose would maybe win 4 or 5 games and they will. They will lose tonight to Miramonte but the MVAL is down except for Logan so watch out
20. Nothing is better than local high school football and each of us is very lucky. God Bless you all and have a great Sunday.
September 18th, 2010 at 8:03 pm
Correction on Item 18….San Marin is NOT unbeaten, and I chose Acalanes to win vs. them and they did.
September 18th, 2010 at 8:17 pm
Killer D- nice comments.
I think MV will handle Hayward, although this could be the Farmer’s year- haven’t been in contention since a playoff team that was smoked by De La Salle back in 2002.
Berkeley High will loose to Pittsburg. BHS has 4000 plus students. Where in California does a school with this kind of enrollment not produce year in and year out. I don’t care if they let some girls on, mabey a FG kicker from the soceer team. Pitt is way down, but not that down. MC win that close might indicate MC is not anywhere as strong as last year. AS for Novato, weak- battered by Bellarmine 32-6.
DLS was not looking foward to Gorman. Gorman lost their first game of the season to Hamilton of Arizona, a very solid team. St. Mary’s of Stockton was that good-for a half.
September 18th, 2010 at 8:18 pm
Jets and Jackets Jacked! Who’s your Mama- Bleacher coach or old meddling?
September 18th, 2010 at 8:33 pm
killer d it could get ugly early at thompson. Alameda players & coaches poppin off all summer shown lack of respect has encinal full attention. Encinal didnt get it done but believe me when it was 21 13 late 3rd serra fans werent too loud. Whats with marin cath killer d are they playin d4?
September 18th, 2010 at 8:50 pm
KD: usually I like all your picks but I was at the scrimmage when MV played Hayward there is NO WAY that Hayward takes out MV. Mustangs scored at will on Hayward during the scrimmage and stuffed pretty much all of Haywards plays. MV by 3 scores…
September 18th, 2010 at 9:42 pm
Yo Mama,I’m right here but believe me it’s on and cracking this friday at the Island Bowl! Jet Pride!
September 18th, 2010 at 10:00 pm
Is that Alameda vs. Encinal? Let me tell you how far back the old Yo Mama goes back. I remember when El Cerrito with Sammy Burns and Greg ” Cocaine” Williams as the RB’S beat Alameda’s 30 gaME WIN STREAK AT eL cERRITO THAT NITE under the mothererin’ lites- Alameda QB white boy was hot running in go ahead score- when EC Williams bounced off tackle and went 64 yds. fo the score- EC went to 5-0, they finished 5-4, lost the last 4 straight. They punked Alameda that nite, but Alameda was a force in the 60′s and 70′s. Encinal could NOT put thAT kind of talent on the field ever.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:09 pm
Murdock, the only bridge Berkeley going’ to walk is that sick-ass ped bridge across I-80 to the Marina. They need to down to the pier and meet Yo Mama and fish for trouser trout.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:12 pm
Old Meddling- are you sure coach t and assc. not down in east aplia lto dippinn’ ribs at fireman’s becuase it’s goin’ to be a one high school island next year and that much beat up coach at Alameda most probablt goin’ to run the whole dog and pony show. Ias got leaSES FOR BOTH ANIMALES.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:23 pm
mv ALUM- hAYWARD WAS THE HEROIN CAPITAL OF THE WORLD FOR A LONG TIME. Don’t think they can’t come into Alamo/Danville and get a fix!
September 18th, 2010 at 10:26 pm
Big Joe…..MC has wins against SI, Las Lomas and Berkeley and they are NOT nearly as good as last year? Seems to me they are good shot to go 10-0……that would in my book mean not a huge drop off from the year previous
September 18th, 2010 at 10:30 pm
Yo Mama the Alameda Hornets are the like the Giants they never have been to the show. The last I checked the Jets have 2 NCS Titles and Alameda has what ummm Zero.
As far as El Cerrito is concerned they have not won anything every either so go ahead and talk about the biggest loser beating an even bigger loser all you want.
The Jets suffered there 1 and only loss of the season until they reach the playoffs period end of story.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:35 pm
Not knocking MC, but BHS is beatable by any playoff team in any division, Las Lomas is down, SI looks good vs. BO. Marin Catholic will still give an ass-whuppin’ behind the woodshed to Encinal and weak Novato. They could run the table, but inferior foes this season. I expect them to beat Justin by 50 unless Coach Corturvo calls it off.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:40 pm
Bleacher coach, I’m not talkin’ just sayin” EC and Alameda have a storied past and some tradition. Encinal is not what people think, however, they are the top dog until proven otherwise in their division. MC will hurt them, Novato is not going to hurt anyone except themselves. You saw what happened to Cardinal Newman vs. Valley Christian San Jose, it’s a different year. Encinal is not in the top 5 of the East Bay- more likely a top 10-15 team. BVAL aND ebal COULD HANDLE the Jet’s with ease.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:43 pm
Great game 2day n kentfield. All i know yo mama is if marin stays d4 its over for weakass st.pats n healdsburg but i knw bruin fans marin is bigger than u funny how that only comes up wen u cant get it done
September 18th, 2010 at 10:46 pm
Bill Johnson, we all know you got the hard on with St. Pat’s- Marin is for real- Bruins get it done- Bill, it’s really funny you stickin’ up for white boys in Marin County, you must be an Oreo by Nabisco.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:52 pm
Big game next Fridy for BSAL – St. Pat’s vs. St. Mary’s in Vallejo- last time I saw that in Vallejo it was St. Pat’s scoring 64 pts. I think that was ’06.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:56 pm
Bruins get wat done? they finally put a good team n da bsal n st.pats no longer wins it. Blanton step up ur non league berean has no athletes y play them.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:58 pm
Yo Mama it is hard to say how bad Novato is this year given the top teams they have played.
Even with there best teams this years non league schedule was tough.
I can tell you the Novato defence is good you cannot tell by the scores but the Novato D has been on the field 40+ minutes every game becuse the special teams and the offence as not doing the job.
I was really expecting big things from Novato’s Jr. returning QB Trieck and he has not been getting the job done.
Novato could still pull and upset and beat MC but if the Offence doesn’t come together the Hornets are in big trouble
September 18th, 2010 at 11:04 pm
Get this Bill, your hoes were 0-2 today. Encinal and BHS aren’t what you think. Let’s leave the BSAL to the teams. Killer D has his picks. You still never answered the game show- are you the real bill johnson- needs to know- can’t walk Yo Mama across the Park St. bridge if I ain’t the daddy right.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:59 pm
bill johnson did u attend the b high and mc game and if so what did u think of the game
September 19th, 2010 at 8:33 am
Why did Brackettt schedule so tough? He had to of known that he was going to be young. Their Frosh program is usually very good I heard that they lost to Herotage 41-0.
September 19th, 2010 at 9:50 am
How did the Jets end up losing 42-13? I seen it was 21-13 in the 4th? Serra must have became too much for the Jets
September 19th, 2010 at 9:51 am
Berkeley High should never lose to a team like Marin.
September 19th, 2010 at 10:27 am
http://alameda.patch.com/articles/football-encinal-runs-out-of-gas-against-serra
September 19th, 2010 at 10:29 am
why not Mandown?? MC football tradition is much better Berkeley High….how many current NFL players from Berkeley are there??? oh yeah, thats what i thought…..MC for 750 students have 2 currently playing in the NFL
September 19th, 2010 at 11:49 am
re posting 46 (Bill Johnson)
I think the “weakass” reference to Healdsburg is rather misguided. Healdsburg recently beat Alhambra at Alhambra, a team Marin Catholic barely got past in the NCS playoffs last season. Yes, MC is a solid team, but you’re a bit premature in your assessment.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:01 pm
PERKIN in regard to post #53 I have said this time and again winning your NCS section is no longer the top prize. Brackett knows after being snubbed for Palo Alto the first Bowl game that you must play top notch teams in your non-league schedule to be a serious contender.
Novato is young this season 8 Sophmores are starting with a host of Juniors if they manage to upset 1 or 2 of the teams they lost to and then take the NCS that would have ment alot.
That is the probelm the Jets have even if that had beat Serra there other two non league contests are with bad teams. If the Jets win the NCS this year (which I doubt they can) They will get passed over for a Northern Section or a SJS section team for sure which is two bad the Jets will always be the brides maid and never the Bride.
September 19th, 2010 at 1:03 pm
MC has a very good team this year. Their scores don’t look impressive, but that’s because of the style they play. Pound the rock and hold on to the ball for a long time. They wear you down physically. They don’t have the best athletes, but that style let’s them play with teams like Serra (Gardena). You knew with B-High’s style the game would not be high scoring and MC will not blow out good opponents score wise very often, but they will beat them up physically.
September 19th, 2010 at 1:22 pm
hey you all, iam now checking in from solano county to set some things straight, first of all moreau from hayward is going to have a tough time in the bsal. facts, they were whipped 3 straight years by st. pats since entering the league, 2007 score was 53 points at moreau.st. pats scored 40 points plus the other two years. the mariner program has not been very good since the early eighties when they had brankston banks at running back, went to notre dame. sorry moreau, it aint going to happen. bye
September 19th, 2010 at 1:55 pm
Javid Best got 2 more TDs today rushing 17c 78 yds late 4th quarter- that’s now 4 tds for the early season.
September 19th, 2010 at 1:56 pm
WHats good about scheduling games that your team compete in. Starting 8 Sophs means rebuilding obviously a team starting 8 sophs isn’t thinking state let alone undefeated. NCS for that matter. I could see that in other years (the last 2 not being the case) but the last 2 have made him look like he’s biting off more then they can chew which is foolish.
The Jets yeah they should be playing an opponent beter then EC but stats don’t lie right? Their scheduling & their wins & losses have gotten them the number 1 seed the past 2 years. WHich includes coaching rankings. So as far as winning section which is the primary goal his scheduling hasn’t done him a good job. Whats fun about being 0-3 getting blown out? Thats teaching your team something? I could understand having one challening game that they could compete in or 2 but they’re flat out getting blown out not even in the game by half time. They getting blown out on all levels.
September 19th, 2010 at 2:13 pm
Dey Know dey know she know, I am da kcuf all this talk that the game settle the score……..Encinal all day Logan all day De La Salle all day and Northgate all day. your undefeated teams in league watchh out
September 19th, 2010 at 2:47 pm
Perkin I agree with what your saying but there are somethings that we don’t know for example what the series is setup for is it a 2 year home and away ? Is coach Brackett setting up for next season at home other than DLS teams need to have a game plan on. And off the field. Any coach who has 100 plus wins in 10 seasons must have aome idea on how to get things done
September 19th, 2010 at 2:58 pm
Other then Foothill which they have had a long standing series with & a good one he picked Bellarmine a CCS Open Division Champ & Heritage this year. Knowing he was going to be young I don’t think thats smart. Foothill was a good enough test for where his team is at this year. Why not schedule a BOD always beatable yet always considered a great team & HAAL favorite? Easily could have competed & helped get a high D-III seed. Why not an Alhambra, Miramonte(pay back & they scheduled Mission San Jose they may have needed a game) or Las Lomas? Sounds like that would have been their speed this year. No one have downed him for scheduling those teams & starting 8 Sophs. You make it sound like he’s just so cocky that he always believes he can beat those top teir teams.
September 19th, 2010 at 3:46 pm
OK I see what you mean he maybe thinking next year will be his year so he setting that up this year but WOW thats pretty tough on the kids this year & I don’t know how good it is for confidence if they’re getting blown out on all levels.
September 19th, 2010 at 4:16 pm
You know honeslty I thought the Novato offence was going to be better. They were in the first two games at the half and vs the Bells the kids where distracted with tbe death and injuries to tbe 5 classmates earlier in the day. Not that they would have won but I think they would have given a better showing
September 19th, 2010 at 5:42 pm
what death and injuries are you refering too- BleacherCoach?
September 19th, 2010 at 5:48 pm
big trad at Justin-Sienna over the weekend, Friday nite a young man on last year’s team took his life. Father died earlier in year from Lung cancer, Mother lost house, she came down with cancer, break-up with girlfriend, took his life. It was a big shock to the team before their game against Menlo.
God Bless and be happy if your kids aren’t troubled. There’s more to life than football.
September 19th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
There was a car accident involving 5 Novato students on Friday afternoon, one died. They found bottles of alcohol in the car. The driver was arrested for felony DUI. It’s very sad that this happened.
