c.sparks, I didnt go to the Serra game but I attened the Alameda game and Encinal didnt look very great. They cannot tackle and a bunch of penalties on there side against a weak Alameda team. They can’t cover on defense and with all those athletes they should be able too. I didnt see any small guys on there team that I can remember but they did have a tiny LB and DT. I like both there defensive and offensive line, they played very good dominating the LOS. One thing they are is very explosive they have the ability to break a game open with there run game. Allen is a beast and I like #23 whoever he is. He juked the whole Alameda team on one play.

Big Joe, I just did a little reseacrh and I found out that the year you guys beat Encinal they went 2-8. The past 4 games you guys played (05,06,08,09) Encinal won 3 out of the 4 in blowouts. I don't know how good Encinal really is this year because against Alameda they didnt look very great but we will see against a very good SPSV team.

Perkins, Blanton played Encinal(pre-bsal), Healdsburg, Benicia, Ferndale, Salesian and Justin during his championship runs in 06 and 07. All these were out of league games. Doesn't look like he avoided anyone during that 21 game streak.
I agree, the last 3years schedule is way weaker. Cardinal Newman and Palma coaching staff both had openings and declined, reason, no reason to play a smaller Div team, doesn't help their program and ratings. I watched Palma in 06 and 07, SPSV would have given them all they could handle. I spoke to De La players on those teams and they said SPSV about 3-4 tds behind them if all went right. DLS pounded Palma those 2 years. I don't think you remember that SPSV had 2 1800 yd. backs in 06 and 3 1000 yd backs in 07.
The 06 QB is starting at Cal Poly at LB-safety. They put some players in Div 1 and 2 from both those years. They also beat Encinal soundly in 06.
With all that said, Encinal is truly the top dog in the league last 3 years, lots of speed, however SPSV had a crack relay team to NCS finals in 06 and a sprinter that went to state 3 yrs running and 2 long jumpers off those teams who also went to state. They also had 2 top weightmen in the small school Div. They stopped Javid Best cold in the second half of a championship game, actually almost putting him out of his last high school game. Alex Wong, playing DEiv 1 in Missouri stopped him cold in the second half. They had lots of speed. Lets give them some credit, they have 300-350 boys to work with.
Also, Blanton's got that program in a lot of playoffs over the years.
Encinal should handle SPSV with no problems again this year.

Prep I am not saying MV would have won the game Cal played great and backed it up against SRV, I just believe it would have had a different feel and honestly 1 player can make a difference. That one 1st down they couldn't make with him, the fumble inside the 5, a more honest D on the Cal side, small things but they add up. I have nothing but respect for CAL they are the 2nd best team in the league right now and will give DLS all they can handle. I wish they would push that game back a day so we could all go, it is going to be great...

I agree that the MV vs Cal game would have been closer if Sullas were there. On the other hand I think that Cal expected a closer game from SRV and it didn't happen either. We will watch and learn.

MV Alum, I think most on here believe that Sullas would have made a big difference in that game. Certainly, MV would have had a much better offense with him in there. It is just that the MV defense couldn't stop Cal the Cal offense and when a team loses by 42 points, it is hard to place the blame on 1 player that is missing. If the 2 teams should meet up again in the playoffs with Sullas healthy, I'm sure it would be a much closer game.

C.Sparks, I don't know how good Encinal is this year but I think it could be a good game this year between the two teams. I'll be attending this one and we will see just how good both teams really are.
