Luke Sheridan commits to Indiana

De La Salle High wrestler Luke Sheridan has committed to wrestle at Indiana next season.

The 2009-10 Bay Area News Group-East Bay wrestler of the year said his final choice came down to Indiana, Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo and Air Force. When an Indiana coach came to California yesterday to offer a full scholarship, Sheridan was ready to accept.

“I felt like I clicked there,” Sheridan said. “I loved the coaching staff, I loved the area. It felt like the right place for me.”

Sheridan was the highest-placed East Bay wrestler at the 2010 CIF wrestling championships in Bakersfield, placing third at 171 pounds. He’ll attempt to improve upon that finish this season. He said that the current plan is to redshirt during his first year at Indiana, then eventually compete at 184 pounds.
