I cover mostly San Jose State football for the San Jose Mercury News/Bay Area News Group, but also fill in from time to time with the 49ers, Warriors, A's and Giants.

Injuries happen and teams have to deal with them? Passes get dropped and that happens? But I think that the fact that Encinal could score at will, in the 2nd half, from anywhere on the field had a very big impact on the game, right? St Pats could not stop the simple off tackle and definitely could not stop the cross buck from the shotgun….thats the big difference in the game

  • Brandonbeard

I am curious where the kid from uncial is going, the Allen kid that plays running back? Anyone know? I doubt the kid from Albany has an offer already even though he can play

  • François “Papa Doc” Duvalier

I heard Boise St. or Sac State

  • François “Papa Doc” Duvalier

    also heard WSU

The Encinal/SPSV game was a good one to watch. Like everyone has said already dropped passes and missed opportunites are apart of football. I can remember both teams making plenty of mistakes in the first & second half, dropped passes by SPSV and crazy misfires by the so called “Strongest arm QB in the bay” Ve’e. My take on the game was that Encinal played great defense all night long except the breakdown at the end of the first half. The jets didnt really allow Patrick to get loose all night long and that was a big difference in the game. You can’t say one play defined the game or even one player in my eyes. Fact is SPSV couldn’t stop Encinal’s offense, Encinal Defense played lights out all night, and they were hitting very hard. If SPSV was that banged up after the game then it was because of the hard hitting. SPSV might win it all in there division because they are a very good team.

    ManDown,
Lol. Lol. You be cracking me up. St. Pats is a good team. Patrick is explosive to say the least. I wonder what happened with their veer package. Game would have been way more physical. Im thinking, just a thought, Blanton didnt want his team to play smash mouth, in the trenches football?

With that said, I like St. Pats, I think they are very well coached, play hard, and good schemes and game planning… But the complaints every season…

  • ManDown

    Perkin, cracking up up? Why?

  • ManDown

Where is J.Allen and #23 going to school next year? Those two players are very good. Do they have any offers? People on the blogs are saying the Huge lineman is going to Arizona, any truth to that?

  • PERKIN

Lol. I stand by my word with the arm stregth comment that I posted. I don’t really know I’d have to check my sources on Josh Morrow but Arizona and Boise St both came by the Nailhouse Friday afternoon to talk to coaches. I believe Fresno St was around as well.

  • ManDown

Perkin, Well who are these schools coming for? Allen?

  • PERKIN

Im sure they are coming for Allen but I havent heard of any offers. But Im sure they all like Josh Morrow and Paul Okamura. It’s still eary in the stages but I’ll talk to my sources and see whats up.

  • SpeedKills

Correction the last name of M “Troung” is spelled “Truong”

  • brandonbeard

Yeah I thought SPSV would play better against Encinal, but those Jets play hard, with alot of energy. And they dont have to best offensve scheme out there but they believe in what they do and thats what matters. They have fun and sell out for each other.

  • BayShoreFan

    SpeedKills, sorry about that.

SPSV vs Moreau: This is the most interesting game this week in the BSAL. Will determine who finishes 2nd place in my opinion. They both play a veer offense, both defenses should know how to cover that. SPSV has very good running backs, and Moreau’s are good as well. This will be a tough game, but SPSV will take it. SPSV 34 Moreau 28

St. Mary’s vs Piedmont: St. Mary’s should be able to beat Piedmont once again this year. Piedmont almost lost against John Swett last week. St Mary’s 42 Piedmont 12

John Swett vs Kennedy: Kennedy has great receiver in B.Elliot. He makes plays. If Kenned’s defense can stay in it for the whole 4th quarters, it should be an easy victory. Kennedy 38 John Swett 14

Encinal vs Albany: Encinal will have a fairly easy game here. Albany is not much of a threat offensively or defensively. Encinal 66 Albany 7
