Man I don’t know what’s up with that situation. Very sad though. I hear the HC does not have the respect of his kids and that he makes excuses, but man it’s the kids who suffer! But I hear that there was more to the situation.

Well I guess my original comment was basically to say that they will go undefeated in the OAL, I guess maybe I got carried away wiotrh the NCS talk, but if they go 12-0 they should get a shot!

Yes it states that OS is DII but if the rule is to let schools 500 and under go to the DIV state game who qualify for The DIII state game, shouldn’t it be the same for all the divisions?

The way I interpreted the “note” for the re-classification for the state bowl games is that all schools that have a population of 500 or less may be considered for the DIV state game. It explicitly says this for the teams that are Nor Cal DIII state qualifiers (Section Champions from NCS DIII-V, SJS IV-VI, NS II-V, and CCS III-IV). But the Oakland Section qualifies for the DII state game. They should make this same exception for Mack being that it’s population is well below 500.

man u guys are going to eat those words, Mack will be Fremont easily in my opinion but we will have to see! Fremont has a good RB but they are not disciplined an d cannot throw the ball, and running the ball only against mack and winning, yeah right! Fremont is not close to that level yet

The new set up is each team’s state bowl division is determined by their section bowl division. So in the NCS, where there are multiple divisions, teams can petition up within their section (you can never petition down to below your enrollment division) and that division then determines your state bowl division. So NCS Division I plays state D-1, NCS D-2 plays state D-2, NCS D-3 through 5 play state D-3, unless the school’s enrollment is below 400, in which they would be D-4 for state.

Since the OAL is its own section and has just one division, it has been designated as Division 2 for state so that’s the only division Mack is eligible.

As for the argument that Mack is overrated, I think you need to judge them based on their division to determine that. Would they be a contender in NCS Div. I (if DLS was out of the picture)? Maybe, but probably not. But if you look at them as the Division IV school that they are, there’s a good case to be made that they are one of, if not the best Division IV team in NorCal. Remember the enrollment is less than 250 at the school, so to judge them against schools with more than 2,000 is unfair. But judging against other schools of 400 or less and they start looking pretty darn good.
