That's a fair point, HS Polo fan. It's certainly up for debate who the next six best teams are after Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley is in the discussion for sure. It'd be interesting to see where the Wolves would have been seeded had they been in Division II. It could have been as high as No. 4 or as low as No. 7. There were quite a few instances of team A beating team B beating team C, which beat team A. For example, Acalanes beat Carondelet, which beat San Ramon Valley which beat Acalanes.

I don't agree with Hammon's assertion that the next six squads in D2 are better than San Ramon. The Division 1 teams may be weaker overall, but San Ramon beat the #4 AND #5 teams in Division 2 although they lost to Carondelet, Las Lomas and Campolindo.

I somewhat (but not totally) agree with Prep Fan except for the fact that many of the top teams will play in very tough tournaments and may end up with a losing record, even though they could easily beat some of the lesser qualified NCS teams. Therefore, the win/loss record isn't always the best indicator.

I am sure that Concord is well aware of the fact that Las Lomas will win, but they can still go out there and give it their best shot. I don't believe that the Giants were picked to win the World Series...but look what is going to happen tonight!

Additionally, I don't think that the two Division system was well advertised to ALL the teams. I know the big guns knew about it because all they did was complain from the moment it came out! But some of the smaller schools that don't typically get into NCS probably didn't know and if they had applied, they probably would have been taken over Concord.

Las Lomas boy's should be happy cause it's gives them a legitimate chance to win a championship. They wouldn't have that in Division I.

On the girl's side, I agree with Stephanie. Can you imagine being Monte Vista in the girl's Division I bracket? They have absolutely no competition at all because it's all in Division II!

The girl's games to watch on Wednesday (Division II first round) would probably be the Northgate/Tamalpais or the Drake/Ygnacio Valley games.

What is the reasoning for having a 4-19 team (Concord) face a 20-4 team (Las Lomas) in the playoffs? It won't even be a competitive game. 4-19 teams do not belong in the playoffs. It just waters down the meaning of qualifying for NCS. In most sports, a team must have at least a .500 record just to qualify and must earn their way in. The only reason is that its more $$$$ for the NCS.
