St. Joseph Notre Dame High senior big man Brendan Keane is headed to the Big Sky Conference after giving an oral commitment Sunday to play basketball at Northern Colorado.
The 6-foot-10 Keane, who as a sophomore helped the Pilots reach the California Interscholastic Federation Division V state championship game, chose Northern Colorado over Pacific and Loyola-Chicago among others. The commitment is non-binding until he signs a letter of intent, which he can do Nov. 10.

The North Coast Section playoffs are just two weeks away and league title scenarios are getting clearer across the East Bay. The biggest match of the week will be in Orinda where Miramonte hosts Acalanes on Wednesday. Both teams are 3-0 in the DFAL with one more league game remaining after this week’s showdown. The Dons won last year’s DFAL matchup 10-6 on their way to the league title, but the Matadors got revenge with a one-goal win in the NCS championship game.
The North Coast Section’s seeding meeting is three weeks away, so it’s definitely a good time to take a look at the playoff situation. As usual, the playoff brackets will be 12 teams. This will be a look at just the East Bay teams.
Here’s a roundup of all the games from Friday night, as well as the key performers across the East Bay from our team of reporters and photographers.
