I’m a Cal alum. Hadn’t seen a game in years until the recent Monte Vista / Cal game in Danville. One of the most exciting games I’ve ever seen.

Jeff Lockie was amazing to watch. His abililty in the pocket to read the defense and re-up and scramble is incredible. I look forward to watching that kid at Oregon if he continues to grow.

But… Cal still beat MV in the last 3 minutes. Big love to Drew and his receiving crew in crunch time. Balsy move on the coaches part to go for that 2 point at the end of the game. If Cal can learn to settle down offensively by the half, bring on DLS. North Coast Sectionals. Check.

I find it amazing how Rivas had never kicked before. He just came on board for the Grizzlies in August and he’s exceeding expectations.

Rivas is about 5-6…a stocky fellow with a powerful pair of legs…..Those kickoff’s with no return make Rivas a very important part of California’s victories.Guys like this don’t come around very often..

Rivas was also 1st team all east bay last year and it appears he is on his way to being on an all league team for football as well.

I have recently talked to the Cal coaches and heard how Rivas was brought to the team as he was recruited by what I believe was Reil.

Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, he is their soccer captain that will be out of action for as long as the football team goes. For a kid like that, that has to hurt.

Rivas was a first team all EBAL selection last year and the star of a Cal team that made it to the NCS finals.

Unfortunately, He will be missing up to 8 or so games should Cal make it deep in the playoffs

Rivas is one of the better soccer players in the area.

Cal has had pretty good kickers for the past few years. I think after last year’s graduation this year was a real question mark for both quarterback and kicker and both have turned out to be very good.
