Who’s signing on Wednesday?

The early signing period for athletes in several sports to sign national letters of intent begins Wednesday and lasts until Nov. 17. We know of a good chunk of the athletes that will be signing during that period, but we likely don’t know about all of them. So if you know of an athlete — or you are an athlete — that will be signing in the next week, please leave us a comment here or send us an e-mail at prepscores@bayareanewsgroup.com with the name, high school, sport and college. Thanks.

Jimmy Durkin

I cover mostly San Jose State football for the San Jose Mercury News/Bay Area News Group, but also fill in from time to time with the 49ers, Warriors, A's and Giants.

Three (3) Pleasanton based lacrosse players will be signing their national letter of intent this week:

Gabe Garcia, attack from Foothill; Shane O’niell, middie from Foothill and Mitch Flaherty, attack from Amador Valley. Stats available upon request.

All have played with each other since the 5th grade with the Pleasanton Lacrosse Club, on national travel teams (Brady’s Bunch, West Coast Starz, Alcatraz Outlaws) during the summer and fall and against each other in high school. Upon graduation in the June 2011, they will attend and play for Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado: http://www.mesamavs.com – a new Division 2 school program that is in its inaugural year. They will play in the Bay Area two to three times a year against local college teams and against an east coast team.
