I just want to go on the record to say that the Berkeley high coaches don’t have a clue. Berkeley’s head coach Fred Sims missed two ACCAL meetings including the all-league selection to cause 5-7 great players not even being nominated.
Jacai deNeveu,Jamil Whetstone, Malachi Knox, Mark Harden,Kier Abrams to name a few dominated for their team in the ACCAL.Yet they weren’t even nominated.Berkeley has the #2 Defense in the Eastbay and only one player was selected off their defense.Jamil Whetstone lead in many categories on offense and wasn’t nominated. We as concerned dads and moms need to change this system where your merits in the league are not solely based on your coach showing up for the meeting. Official stats need to be recorded by the LEAGUE so it can be fair. I know that Jacai deNeveu(Berkeley High) and Travis Feenley(Pinole Valley) were the best LBs in the league by far. There’s an injustice here that needs to be addressed.
November 18th, 2010 at 1:09 am
wow im very shocked that the coach missed those meetings, thats really not like him, i agree wit DAD those kids should b all league
November 18th, 2010 at 7:33 am
Some of the coaches put up some berkeley players, but with lack of support they didnt get the votes.
Berkeley players nominated-
James rb
Henderson oline
Rosales te
Albert db
and #9 dt forgot his name
This is no ones responsiblity other than the head coach. The other coaches didnt have to nominate any Berkeley players. Him not showing up to the meeting shows a lack of character and a level of selfishness that doesnt belong in high school football. Even zo would show up to all the meetings. I cant rip this guy enough, he should have made sure Berkeley football had a rep at the meeting. If I was a deserving player on his team, I would not speak to him ever again after the final snap of the season. He obviously couldnt be bothered to give his players the recognition they deserved.
What james is that PV or Berkeley?
James Lewis won league MVP
November 18th, 2010 at 10:02 am
AN EXPLANATION FOR HIS ABSENCE IS DEFINITELY WARRANTED. THERE ARE TO MANY GOOD PLAYERS ON THE TEAM NOT TO HAVE HAD MORE ALL LEAGUE PLAYERS. I PRAY THIS DOESN’T AFFECT THE TEAM’S PSYCHE BEFORE BERKELEY’S PLAYOFF GAME THIS SAT. IF HE COULDN’T MAKE IT, HE SHOULD HAVE ASSIGNED ONE OF HIS 15-20 ASSISTANT COACHES TO MAKE THE MEETING IN HIS PLACE.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:07 am
We need the public to speak out about the injustice that has taken place in the Berkeley Program and the ACCAL. Please as parents, fans, and community write, email, blog to the ACCAL about the players that should have made All-ACCAL and shouldn’t suffer because their coach didn’t show up for the all-league meeting. We can’t let this ride. What does that say about the ACCAL honestly. That good players don’t need to be recognized because of the inexperience of the coach? OK ACCAL let’s get it together.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:18 am
It’s definately an injustice to the Berkeley high players ; but , that’s on Coach Sims and no one else. It’s his responsibility to either attend the all league meeting or send an asst to represent. For Berkeley not have anyone at the mtg is idiotic ! There needs to be accountability here and that’s up to the school not the league.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:31 am
Maybe Simms doesn’t beleive in individual awards.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:40 am
Coach Sims may be new to the ACCAL but he coached last year and knows about All-League meetings. Not only has he angered parents and fans of the team, but he hurt the players’ opportunity for extra publicity–especially the seniors. I would imagine that a coach wants his team to win, but at the same time why wouldn’t you want to promote some individual achievements for the graduates still trying to get that first offer. And because you “MISSED” a meeting??? Really??? While it is Coach Sims fault, the other ACCAL coaches didn’t remember these players?? Were they laughing that Coach Sims wasn’t there and therefore couldn’t nominate these guys?
November 18th, 2010 at 10:46 am
Maybe the BFL does it differently from the ACCAL but there were players from St. Liz that made all league.
November 18th, 2010 at 11:10 am
Just Maybe – If you read PVspartans post, you’d know that the only reason Berkeley even had any players on the team was the other schools’ coaches nominating them. Even if a coach from another team knows a kid was deserving, not every coach in the league knows what every kid from other schools did in other contests, and might not even know what their names were. (Some coaches can’t even spell / pronounce their OWN players names)
If Sims had been there (or a rep) he could have spoken up about players he felt strongly deserved consideration. Kudos to the other coaches for doing their best to include Berkeley players.
Bottom line, the Berkeley coach let his kids down, no one else. You can’t fault the other coaches in the league for not having enough information on the Berkeley players, and its not their responsibility to look out for their kids AND another team’s players!
November 18th, 2010 at 11:34 am
I heard that Sims didnt show up to some games this year. Any truth to that?
November 18th, 2010 at 11:38 am
To Sims defense: He does have a pretty important playoff game to game plan for. Thats what matters. Maybe he had a bad or long day at practice. These meeting usually happen right after practice.
November 18th, 2010 at 12:16 pm
Did you really have to use my name??? The majority of these posts are opinions and questions, sometimes facts. I asked the question mainly because Sims had players that made all-league from his previous school. Wondered if he nominated them or did the other coaches choose them.
By the way, I don’t always read all of everybody’s post, because some of you swear you’re the know-it-all on every topic.
I don’t have a kid on Berkeley’s team, but several of those guys bring it game after game and deserve to be all-league–especially their linebacker.
November 18th, 2010 at 12:19 pm
Pinole and Alameda were preparing for a game also, but still made it. It was Pinole that nominated every Berkeley player that was nominated. This guy is a joke, has nothing to do with the league. This falls on the coach and whoever hired the coach. Even if you dont believe in individual awards, you still believe in getting what you earned. The Richmond coach did not attend either, but the pinole staff nominated two richmond players also. Nobody was laughing at the fact of the Berkeley coach not being there, just disapointment. We had guys looking up names online for Berkeley kids, one coach was texting back and forth with a Berkeley parent, my guess its dad from this post.
Some of the other coaches had enough sense to say something when nominations came around, but why would another coach vote for a p[layed that the coach couldnt bother to show up and nominate. We dont see what the players do in every other game in league, without a rep to say something all we know is what happened against us. James, Henderson, Rosales, Albert, and the DT/FB #9 had a really good game vs Pinole so Pinole nominated them.
November 18th, 2010 at 12:35 pm
Like I said there needs to be a stat committee in all leagues. How can the #4 tackler in the NCS go unnoticed and not be nominated. It’s the job of the ACCAL to nominate the best players in the league, not coaches nominating scrubs that don,t deserve to be there because they have a soft heart for the player. Most of it lies on the Berkeley Coach but there’s a flaw in the system.Polls nominate college teams, committees nominate pro players and we rely on bias coaches to determine the best league players. Come on. Wake up people I glad your son made all-league but was he deserving daddy coaches, bias coaches.
November 18th, 2010 at 2:09 pm
BERKELEY HAS 15-20 ASSISTANT COACHES BETWEEN 3 TEAMS. THERE IS NO EXCUSE WHY NO ONE WAS THERE. THE COACHES SHOW UP FOR EVERYTHING ELSE. TO SOME MAKING ALL LEAGUE IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. THE GOOD SENIORS KEIR ABRAMS#8, JAMIL WHETSTONE#1, MARK HARDEN#70, MALICHI KNOX#13, MYLES GRACE#79 AND JACAI DEVENAEU#44, ARE STILL GOING TO GET RECRUITED BUT BUSINESS IS BUSINESS. THE MEETING REQUIRED THE COACH BE THERE SO HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE. HE WILL BE THERE FOR HIS STIPEND CHECK, I’M JUST SAYING.
I AM TRYING NOT TO BE NEGATIVE ABOUT THIS, BUT AS I THINK ABOUT SOME OF THE HAVE DONE, LOW BUDGET, UNFAIR INCIDENTS OF DISCIPLINE THAT HAVE HAPPEN THIS SEASON I TRULY AM NOT SUPRISED HE MISSED THE MEETING. IF THE JOB WAS THAT HARD WHY DID YOU TAKE IT, THE CONDITIONS WERE EXPLAINED TO HIM IN THE BEGINNING. MAN UP BERKELEY COACHES AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU DID.
November 18th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
WARRIOR JACKET, Explain “UNFAIR INCIDENTS OF DISCIPLINE THAT HAVE HAPPEN THIS SEASON” What the heck is going on over there in B-Town? I heard Sims didnt show up to some games but I don’t know why. Can you confirm that?
November 18th, 2010 at 2:31 pm
DAD- This is high school, not college, not the pros. If the coach is too worthless to show up than like I said it lays on him and whoever hired him. There is no excuse why someone couldnt be there to represent Berkeley. Hell, even Hercules had two guys, maybe Rosales would have got all-league if he would have stayed. How would you know who the fourth leading tackler in the ACCAL is? Thats an impossible stat to know unless you watched every game and counted every tackle in league. You need to aim your negative energy at who deserves it, Sims. 100% of the blame lands in his lap. It is noones responsibility to nominate a player from Berkeley except Sims, but Pinole nominated 5. This is how all-league gets done and will not change for some worthless man who couldnt be bothered to represent his kids that play for him at a meeting.
Berkeley no all-league = No Sims at meeting and no other reason.
Is that simple enough?
November 18th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
It seems like Simms doing a solid job for his first year. He doesn’t go to practice everyday? Maybe its not that bad of a thing if he has a veteran staff thats been with him for a while & can run practice. Now if he isn’t there and practice isn’t very productive then you see why they’re losing close games & games they should win.
November 18th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
PVSPARTAN maybe you can’t read but I said 4th in the NCS greater than this weak league. There are many things I can say about Pinole(clock mis management) But that’s not why I’m on this forum. There is a flaw in the ACCAL. Don’t be naive. Maybe PVSPartan is one of those daddy coaches. I don’t know but if you think that you even had more than 4 all-league guys on your team, then you are mistaken.Yes I do watch all the film, and I bet that BHS #22 and #44 had the most tackles in the ACCAL>Wake up mean person and see the injustice here. And get a life!!
You cheated your way to a ACCAL title and you think your the expert.NOT!! We know who thw real champs are Jackets. We know you hate us especially when Carter put it on you.
November 18th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Hmmm … just wondering … what qualified, competent, dedicated, committed and successful candidates did Berkeley High School bypass when they selected their current coach?
If there is any “meat” to this stream about the current BHS coach missing practices, late to games, failing to attend league meetings and who knows what else, then it might be time to take a second look at the selection and the process. Also, what were the expectations for BHS this season? It seems as if the blogs, way back in Feb/march/April when Zo departed for CCC, were full of BHS being loaded for 2010 and anything less that what Zo had accomplished would equal a step backward for BHS football and that the current coach was just the right person for the job. Explain it so it makes some sense to us.
November 18th, 2010 at 3:38 pm
YOU DON’T KNOW THE APPLE IS SPOILED UNTIL YOU BITE INTO IT!
November 18th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
@DAD, calm down. PVSpartan actually had your back. He said Pinole nominated 5 Berkeley players even in your coach’s absence. I know you’re upset as I would be as well. I still can’t believe that a coach wouldn’t show up. This blog is a great start at bringing in some attention. Have you talked to Berkeley’s atheletic director? Are the meetings mandatory? What’s Simms excuse????
November 18th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
on a lighter note, you can SEE a spoiled apple before biting into it…..
November 18th, 2010 at 4:20 pm
I dont know about the missed meeting, but I do know, Sims missed a game because he was suspended for a comment to a ref in the Richmond game, also he has been in and out of town because of a sick Parent. So lets not throw people under the bus until you have your facts. I dont think theres a coach out there who dont have a few spoiled apples
November 18th, 2010 at 4:28 pm
As Michael Jackson once said: “One bad apple don’t spoil the whole bunch girl”.

November 18th, 2010 at 5:12 pm
Oh you’re right OFMC. Sorry about that.
November 18th, 2010 at 5:52 pm
just maybe, you don’t understand, one of the players they nominated only played in 2-3 league games, another didn’t lead in tackles, another was a Jr. all deserving but some of the real althletes were left out. What does this do to their physcy how does it help their recruiting chances to get an education these days. You should know a lot of these kids are low-income minorities. My son is academically sound but most are on the edge. This can be the one thing that saves them or destroy them in this delicate world of ours. And sometimes you can’t see the spoiled apple.
November 18th, 2010 at 7:15 pm
Jalens father? I nominated your kid! (If thats you, I really hope not, Id like to give you more credit than that) I nominated all five of the berkeley kids so step back please.
I do not have any children.
We beat you fare and square, I timed the plays on that last drive with a stop watch and we lost seven seconds somewhere. There should have been 7 seconds left on the clock when LJ caught the TD.
Pinole didnt have 4 all league players? Wow, you are rediculous.
Feeney averaged over 15 tackles a game, is your guy higher? Dont think so. Even making a statement like the 4th leading tackler in the NCS is crazy, no one keeps all the stats.
As for Carter putting it on us. In his three years the record was 1-1-1. The first year, he walked off the field at the end of regulation and refused to play overtime. The second year they won 14-0. The third year we beat an undefeated Berkeley team 13-10. Wow thats putting it on us?
All of our kids come from low income families and all of them are minorities,(we have one white kid, Max naterman, our kicker) so whats your point?
Like I said before, take all this energy your wasting on me and go have a conversation with the Berkeley AD about Sims. The all league meeting is mandatory.
In our game with Berkeley, the best defensive player was Albert and the best Offensive player was Henderson. I know jalen, hes a great kid. The dt #9 gave us problems. James ran very well. Thats why we nominated them. No one in the meeting disagreed.
Dude, step back, take a breath, and go speak with Sims and the Berkeley AD. it is 100% their fault.
November 18th, 2010 at 8:47 pm
I asked the AD if he informed or misinformed the coach about the meeting, he said Sims should have had a calendar of all scheduled meetings for the year. In other words he threw Sims under bus and does not want to accept any responsibility for the incident. DAD I know you are upset so am I. But like I said before business is business the coach was required to be there and he was not, period. At this point I just hope the coach prepares the kids for the playoffs.
Sims was highly recommended for the head coaching position by many football people in the area, including coach Carter. His football knowledge is not being questioned. His procrastination and administrative unpreparedness is. He does not hold his assistants accountable and quite frankly a few of them are
horrible. If he is to continue the Carter legacy he is going to have make some assistant coach changes asap.
November 18th, 2010 at 8:49 pm
both of you have made valid points (PV & Dad).the key is keeping all our kids uplifted, threw this sport. lets have a good weakend, good luck to all. because I dont think anyone thats blogging didnt apply anywhere. I least I didnt.
November 18th, 2010 at 8:54 pm
I dont know about the legacy part warrior! he had a good term. there some parents mad at him too!
November 18th, 2010 at 9:29 pm
Wow!! This is really sad to see and rather ridiculous to keep beating the same ole horse. It seems like there is plenty of blame to go around especially for a parent that should make it his/her mission to ensure their “student athlete” gets a fair shake. As men, you guys didn’t have to wait until now to vent things that obviously have been eating at you all season long. All you had to do is man up as let Sims AND his staff know how you felt.To me it sounds like a couple of you are Carter loyalist, how’s that working for you? It’s playoff time guys, so just get over it or submit “your” application for the job in 2011.
November 18th, 2010 at 9:56 pm
HEY THAT #44 KID FROM BERKELEY AVG, 13,5 TACKLES, ITS ON MAXPREPS. AND HE’S 4TH IN THE NCS.SOUNDS LIKE PVSPARTAN IS A HATER!ESPECILLY ON BERKELEY. AND IN 2008 BHS 50 SUMTIN PV 0
November 19th, 2010 at 12:25 am
i dont believe coach sims missed the meeting on purpose, thats not like him to miss meetings like that. too bad for the players that didnt get all league that deserved it.
pvspartan i got to correct u on that ot game, it was already set by ur coach in the early league coaches meeting that the accal would not have any ot games, why would b high have been scared to play ot when the totally dominated that game, they had a lot of questionable flags thrown on big plays and td’s. at the meeting it was some kind of numbers drawn to decide any tiebreakers and that y b high was a league champ.
November 19th, 2010 at 7:17 am
3 years = legacy?
November 19th, 2010 at 7:53 am
Legacy? If sims can get it done vs logan he will have taken berkeley as far as carter. Carter was 1-3 n ncs losing twice at home. Only ebal team he beat was granada n dat was wen he was mack.
November 19th, 2010 at 7:53 am

November 19th, 2010 at 8:23 am
It appears that everyone is right, Congratulations! You figured out that Sims is responsible for some shameful things that have happened during his first year. His character regarding being trustworthy and reliable is at issue. What man can truly throw stones? What man is truly more qualified to do the job? If this is you, please apply for the job. Just make sure that you have the ability to annually: win the league, win in the playoffs, ensure a minimum of 5 annual scholarships, produce a minimum of 5 all league players, assist other students get scholarships, and recruit quality coaches and players. This is the legacy built by Carter. In two years, Berkeley was the class of the league! Now we are the laughing stock.
November 19th, 2010 at 8:33 am
What the hell is going on down at Berkeley? Lots of angry people down there
November 19th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Wow….I heard that this guy got the job over some pretty good applicants? My heart goes out to him if he has a sick parent, and he deserves some slack if that is true, but to just not go to a meeting as important as the ALL LEAGUE meeting is crazy and should not be tolerated by the school. I don’t care how good his assistants are, a head coach can’t miss practices and games….Attitude Reflects Leadership is one of my favorite quotes, and this is a prime example of how not to do it. I only coach at the Pop Warner level, but I would never think of going somewhere instead of a practice or game…..you have a resonsibility to your 30 or so kids.
At a school so prestigious, this position seems to deserve more…I know one applicant who would have taken this opportunity and ran with it……and made the school proud!
November 19th, 2010 at 9:00 am
Carter was a good coach. However, his lack of football knowledge meant his teams were never a real force in the playoffs. I was at the MV playoff game last year and it was ugly. Berkeley had no answer when MV closed down defensively halfway through the second drive.
What Berkeley needs to get on a Grant/Pitt level (both similar in size and demographic), is a coach who doesn’t see Berkeley as a jumping off point, but as a home. Who motivates/inspires like Carter but who knows football and can coach like Matt Sweeney.
However, wouldn’t every school want a coach like that?
November 19th, 2010 at 9:18 am
this coach wanted to go out and get his drink on instead? No seriously that was a huge mistake and is the reason B high will go down hard.Good example for the kids coach!!!!
November 19th, 2010 at 9:27 am
Leave Carter out of the blog, this is a high school blog, go to JC Football blog. Very wrong on the ACCAL to allow this to happen, I fault Berkeley’s AD, who dropped the ball, Berkeley High is a hard place to coach, its not a perfect world, and all these coaches wouldnt succeed, like Sims, because they are a different type of kid at B high. Harden, Jacqai, keir know that they are more deserving then the kids that made all league, all three will go on to college somewhere and play, and laugh about this AD mishap next year. Did you see that Comet!
November 19th, 2010 at 9:30 am
@ NFL AND ROCKY -9, SAY WHAT YOU WANT, BEFORE CARTER TOOK OVER THE BERKELEY PROGRAM, THEY CONSISTANTLY WENT 4-6 TWO TO THREE YEARS PRIOR. PINOLE VALLEY, ALAMEDA AND EL CERRITO CONTROLLED THE LEAGUE. CARTER WAS THERE 3 YEARS. BERKELEY WON THE LEAGUE 3 YEARS AND KIDS GOT SCHOLARSHIPS, SO YEAH, FOLLOW THE LEGACY. LOOK I AM NOT SOME UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS HAVING TYPE GUY, WHO THOUGHT SIMS WAS NOT GOING TO THROUGH SOME TRANSITION ISSUES WITH THE TEAM. I EXPECTED SOME, HOWEVER THE CUPBARD WASN’T BARE WHEN HE GOT TO BERKELEY. ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS STEER THE SHIP AND WORK ON HIS YOUNG GUYS FOR THE FUTURE. NOW, HAS SIMS DONE A HORRIBLE JOB COACHING BERKELEY, NO HE HAS NOT. BERKELEY HAS WON GAMES AND HAVE BEEN IN A POSITION TO WIN THE GAMES THEY HAVE LOST. DID I QUESTION SOME COACHING DECISIONS HE MADE DURING THOSE LOSSES? YES I DID. THAT IS MY RIGHT AS A FAN OF THE PROGRAM I HAVE LOYALLY SUPPORTED THE LAST 4 YEARS. I DON’T FEEL SORRY THAT HE IS BEING QUESTIONED ABOUT THIS INCIDENT BECAUSE HE SHOULD BE QUESTIONED. HE IS THE HEAD COACH AND THAT IS HIS JOB TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROGRAM ON ALL FRONTS. SO FAR HE HAS ADDRESSED THE KIDS ABOUT MISSING THE MEETING BUT HAS SAID NOTHING TO THEIR PARENTS. I HOPE THAT WILL HAPPEN SOON TO SQAUSH THE ANIMOSITY THAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW. THE COLD PART IS HE SEEMS TO THINK HE SHOULD HAVE AN ATTITUDE ABOUT THE SITUATION. REALLY??? FOR REAL???
ROCKY -9 WHATS UP WITH THE INSULT CALLING ME PART JACKET. I AM A MCCLYMONDS GRADUATE AND MY SON PLAYS FOR BERKELEY HENCE THE NAME WARRIOR JACKET. BUT ITS COOL THERES ALWAYS ONE!
@ PVSPARTAN, DAD IS NOT JALEN ROSALES’FATHER.
I WILL END IT BY SAYING THIS. A MISTAKE WAS MADE (AMONGST THE MANY OTHERS THAT I WILL NOT DISCUSS ON THIS BLOG)MAN UP! ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG AND TRY TO MAKE AMENDS WITH THE KIDS, THE PARENTS, THE ADMINISTRATION, THE ALUMNI, THE LEAGUE AND ALL OTHER BERKELEY SUPPORTERS. MAKE IT UP TO THE KIDS BY COACHING HARD IN THESE PLAYOFFS, PUSHING THE QUALIFIED SENIORS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS. HAVE A QUALLITY TEAM AWARDS BANQUET WITHOUT ANY PROCRASTINATION AND LACK LUSTER PLANNINING. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES AND MOVE FOWARD. I THINK THAT IS ALL WE CAN ASK FOR FROM COACH SIMS.
IF ANY COACH ON BERKELY’S TEAM WHO KNOWS WHO I AM ON THIS BLOG, WANTS TO DISCUSS THIS ISSUE FURTHER WITH ME, I AM AT PRACTICE EVERYDAY WATCHING FROM THE SIDELINE.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:47 am
well said WarriorJacket, LOL, why give up your AKA. Maybe appeal the voting, and send a letter to the editorial of the Tribune and Times, cause, the kids that did’nt make it, should make, all metro, and cream of the crop. Did you see that Comet!
November 19th, 2010 at 9:49 am

you just came out as a coach at pinole???!!! dear goodness man way to make the target on your guys back a bit bigger…..

IM NOT SAYING ALL THESE PLAYES DESERVE FIRST TEAM BUT ATY LEAST SECOUND TEAM OR HONROABLE MENTION.
i AM VERY DISAPPPOINTED IN BERKELEY’S HEAD COACH FRED SIMS. COACH CARTER LEFT HIM A GREAT TIME AND HE LET ALL OF HIS TALENT GO TO WASTE. THE MAJORITY OF BERKELEYS LOSES CAME IN THE PRESEASON AND WERE VERY WINABLE GAMES. FOR THE FREEDOM GAME SOME KIDS WERENT EVEN DRESSED ON TIME BECAUSE OF EQUITMENT ISSUES. ALL IM SAYN IS EVERY SINCE ALOZO CARTER LETF BERKEY IT IS GOING BACK TO THEIR OLD WAYS. IT ALREADY STARTED OF BAD WITH A TALENTED GROUP OF SENIORS, WHO ONLY WENT 7-3 WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT YEAR YEAR. CARTER’S LEFT OVERS WILL BE GONE AND IT WILL BE THE MAJORITY OF SIMS TEAM. I AM ANXIOUS TO SEE WHAT THIS MAN DOES NEXT YEAR. AND WARRIORJACKET, AND DAD HOPEFULLY HE HAS BEEN PREPARING THE KIDS FOR THEIR BIG PLAYOFF GAME SAT NIGHT AT LOGAN. SEE YOU THERE….

pvspartan get a clue and stop cheating for league titles.ACCAL fix your flawed system, not fair to great players.
I’m done with it,it is what it is. Time to move on. Logan here we come with a chip on our shoulders.

West CoCo stand up!
DON’T SLEEP!!!!

Warrior Jacket…..well said!!!!Good to hear a perspective from RIGHT THERE…..I’m sure, and I hope there is a lot about this situation that we don’t know…
November 19th, 2010 at 2:29 pm
Im not hating on you Warrior Jacket!I feel what your saying, I’ve lived in B-town over 40 years, Im well aware of the school, I also agree with Dad” but when you speak of legacy, I’m sorry coach Carter doesn’t come to mind. Sure Sims screwd up big and something needs to be done about it. ACCAL should see the flaw here and step and cry fowl for the sake of the players. I hope the players can put this behind them and get in that Logan A–! And dont piggy back on me pvsparten! I was there at the game. pinole ran two plays with 9.3 seconds left. first play the clock never moved!!! Unless that first play was warp speed. is what it is!

wassup coach bodwin
November 19th, 2010 at 7:13 pm
Whew! Warrior Jacket really let me have it! Maybe this means he will get off of the blog and get over it. Every year the BCS screws up with bowl balloting and selections but they’re not crucifying coaches, they keep it moving and life goes on, players move on, simple as that. Berkeley is not a laughing stock, it’s not the players sitting up on blogs crying..no…they’re getting ready to go out and play hard! It’s high school man, just wait until you see the politics in college!!
November 19th, 2010 at 8:23 pm
I agree with the politics in college, however the BHS staff, someone should have been at that meeting to vote and present, especially with that many coaches, including the AD. The league policy stinks! YellowJackets deserved better than this. These kids deserved to be named all league.
Hope Berkeley can get past Logan. I want to see them vs. DeLa. Last 3 playoff meetings- something like 150-00, including the Carter yrs. That should be their last memories. Not making all league clouds the results.

Alameda coach says Pinole wil not make it out of the first round. Pinole 50 Alameda 12
November 19th, 2010 at 10:39 pm
@ WARRIORJACKET – thanks for clearing things up. You’re right, I’m not DAD. I don’t post to blogs, until now.
@ PVspartan – Don’t call me out. You don’t know me. If you did, you’d be able to call me directly.
All coaches present at the meeting should be ashamed of themselves(Besides one PV coach). How can the #1 defense by far have only 1 rep? You just proved to everyone how bad our league really is… it all started with you. Regardless of if Sims was there or not, you “ADULTS” should have taken care of business. Just like what you always preach to the kids.
The real all-league guys are the ones getting recruited. You know who you are. The rest of you please return your equipment for a long off season. We have bigger and better things ahead of us.

I want to apologize to anyone I’ve offended on this blog over the last few weeks including Coach Sims. Who knows why he didn’t attend the meeting, maybe he wasn’t notified. I hope the best for Berkeley in representing the ACCAL moving forward and best of luck tomorrow night. To prove my sincerity in this apology, I will no longer participate in these blogs. To anyone who cares, the first thing I did when breaking down the Pinole vs Berkeley game film was timing the last drive. With complete honesty, seven seconds were lost somewhere. I don’t know where, but I can tell you we did not benefit from the misuse of the clock. Had that pass not been caught, the clock would have run out preventing us from using our fourth down with seven seconds left. Good luck to all the teams still participating in the NCS playoffs.
November 20th, 2010 at 11:52 pm
YEAH WE BEAT UP ON LOGAN LIKE THEY STOLE SUMTIN. DEFENSE SHUT THEM DOWN . GAVE 6 5MIN LEFT IN GAME. AND ONLY ONE ALL LEAGUE PLAYER. YEAH I ‘AM NOT FINISHED WITH THE ACCAL. LIKE ONE PARENT SAID”YOU SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, BY NOT HAVING THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE LEAGUE ON THE ALL-LEAGUE SELECTION, YOU HAVE REPLACED THEM WITH SCRUBS WHO DON’T DESERVE TO BE THERE.SO THAT MEANS LITTLE JOHNNY WHO HAD 10 SOLO TACKELS MADE 1ST TEAM OVER BEAST MASTER WHO HAD 100 TKLS. I’M SAYING IT NOW AND I WILL SAY IT FOREVER.REVOTE!!!!ACCAL GET IT RIGHT FOR THE SAKE OF THE KIDS. NOT THE PARENTS NOT THE COACHES NOT THE PAPERS AND TV PROGRAMS FOR THE KIDS
November 21st, 2010 at 1:08 am
with all respect, DAD, I don’t think the kids on the All League team right now did anything to deserve to be called “scrubs”? Why would you insult them? All they did was play football and go to school? Bottom line remains….your coach chose for some reason not to represent his kids and they suffered….just move on and take it out on the rest of the DI teams in NCS!
November 21st, 2010 at 6:02 am
attention all jacket football fans:As triton8 states, take it out on the rest of the d1 teams. put in play as our kids prepare by showing to our kids that as adults they are going to have disapointments in life and not take there minds off the mission. no matter how or why these questions i feel will be answered, furthermore coach sims has put our kids in a position to put to rest this ebal gold standard of football. it is going to take all of us to show support to the kids and staff that we believe in them and have our support. it is going to take the whole team players, coaches, adminstration, and yes the parents to show the bay area that berkeley high is who they have always been, the school of champions.

suddenly humble???? you must have seen film of the nightmare that is headed for you…no time to punk out now…keep running those gums
November 21st, 2010 at 11:36 am
I dare you to find one team or coach that has faced Berkekey High this year who would state that Cal High will not have there hands full. Berkeley has accomplished just as much as every other team standing, despite new coach, new system, and fatal killing on teammate. But for a few blown coverages with 4th quarter leads, Bhs would have been 9-1 and league champs. There’s a reason why you still have to play the game.
November 21st, 2010 at 11:38 am
Fatal death of teammate. Number one ranked defense is not a fluke!
November 21st, 2010 at 1:19 pm
triton; your boy must be one of those scrubs.Yeah I called them scrubs because the real ACCAL all-leaguers are moving on in the playoffs, scrubbs sit at home and watch. But remember this scrubs as you tell your kids about you making all league, there will always be an **** by your name in 2010 ACCAL selections. And I don’t care about harshness on the kids this is a gladiator game and I’m from the old school. We always talk smack, we don’t care about little jonnys feelings, take that s*** back to soccer little punkkkkkkkkkkkksssssssss.
November 21st, 2010 at 2:05 pm
@ NALA
FIRST OFF I DID NOT CRUCIFY COACH SIMS. I CLEARLY STATED BEFORE, I DO NOT QUESTION HIS KNOWLEDGE ABOUT FOOTBALL. I SIMPLY POINTED OUT THAT FOR THE NCS DIV.1 LEVEL HE NEEDS TO TIGHTEN UP SOME ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES. THIS IS SOMETHING I PERSONALLY DISCUSSED WITH HIM EARLIER IN THE YEAR. I HAVE NOT CRIED ABOUT HIM TO THE LEAGUE OR THE ADMINISTRATION, THATS NOT MY STYLE. I VENTED ON THE BLOG BECAUSE QIUTE FRANKLY I CAN. I AM STILL A STRONG SUPPORTER OF SIMS AND THE BERKELEY PROGRAM, WHETHER THEY WOULD HAVE WON OR LOST THE LAST GAME. I’M OVER THE FACT THAT HE MISSED THE ALL LEAGUE MEETING AND SO IS MY SON. BUT DOES THAT MAKE MISSING THE MEETING OK? FOR YOU I GUESS IT DOES. IF MY BLOG ENTRIES BOTHER YOU SO MUCH, OH WELL. AND WHY ARE YOU ON THE BLOG ANYWAY?
November 21st, 2010 at 2:08 pm
WHOA! JACKET FAN, THAT TITLE BELONGS TO MCCLYMONDS HS
November 21st, 2010 at 2:54 pm
BHS can prove their worthiness next week against Cal High. Last year against MV at Berkeley it was a massacreee!!!!!
November 21st, 2010 at 3:44 pm
warrior jacket: berkeley high over 100 yrs old, with sports dating back before they laid one brick at mac.
mean no disrespected for the history at mac. ask any past or current player that played at b-high it is known that if you don’t win it, you transfer to mac. (joke)
November 21st, 2010 at 4:19 pm
WOW…..DAD! I was rooting for Berkeley HS until your disrespectful ass ran your mouth about my kids! Actually my kids are 10 & 12, so your wrong. I just thought, and still think its idiotic to call a bunch of high school kids scrubs, just because your coach didn’t show up to a mandatory meeting? I never will root for teams from the other side of the tunnel, but now I am truely a Cal High fan next week! Not that it matters….just like you will be no factor in the outcome. You can’t be a father, you must be one of those kids that got jobbed by the ACAL vote….or non-vote? Remember…..some of those SCRUBS…..took it to you from Pinole Valley earlier this year!!!!
November 21st, 2010 at 4:55 pm
SEE EVERYBODY, TRINTON(MR. “WOW” MAN) IS WHAT YOU CALL YOUR CLASSIC HATER.HE SAIDS HE WAS GOIN TO ROOT ON BHS NEXT WEEK NOW HE’S NOT BECAUSE OF MY OPION. IF IT’S THAT EASY TO CHANGE YOUR MIND LIKE THAT YOU MUST FIT INTO ONE OF THOSE CATEGORIES. YOU HAVE TWO KIDS YOU SAY, THEY MUST BE SCRUBBS YOU SQUARE A** P***.GET OUT OF THE BUSINESS! REVOTE!!!!ACCAL , FIX THE FLAW.
November 21st, 2010 at 5:00 pm
BHigh has one of the top statistical defenses, but there is a difference between being the top defense and top stat defense. They get to prove if those might be one and the same against Cal. But I’m pretty skeptical after what MV did to the Jackets last year.
November 21st, 2010 at 5:08 pm
MV had an exceptional passing offense last year which was probably the Jackets undoing. Cal’s passing offense is probably not as good but I don’t think Berkeley has seen the Grizzlies size/speed in their league. I have heard that the Jackets are really fast though.
November 21st, 2010 at 5:31 pm
I hope they do revote, DAD……and this time, I hope Sims puts you up for All-League. You can’t be an adult? See you at CCC next year……
November 21st, 2010 at 5:53 pm
I can’t imagine Coach Sims not caring about the kids. Maybe he had something more important to do…
November 21st, 2010 at 5:54 pm
I feel bad for the Seniors on the team that won’t have the chance to get nominated again.
November 21st, 2010 at 6:37 pm
JACKET FAN LAST TIME I CHECKED MACK HAS BEEN WINNING ALOT LATELY
November 21st, 2010 at 9:45 pm
I’m sorry but I find it next to impossible to take anyone who types in all caps seriously.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:10 pm
hey Outsider & Renegades10! you can’t compare last year and this year, with exception of a few seniors, it’s two different teams, for Berk- it’s a new staff different set of athletes, and your rite berk- hasn’t seen the Grizzlies size/speed. But flip the coin over, Grizzlies hasn’t seen Berkeley! And you heard rite they are fast , and they have sum power to boot!
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:53 pm
Have anyone seen the all leaugers and M.V.P LIST?
November 22nd, 2010 at 3:07 pm
WOW those BHS kids got ripped off by there own coach?! That should set the tone for a great week of preparation or maybe the coach is just a motivational genius? The Logan win while good was not dominating in any aspect so we will have to see come Friday…
November 22nd, 2010 at 3:12 pm
@ iker
SAY SOMETHING INTERESTING OR DON’T SAY NOHTING AT ALL!
November 22nd, 2010 at 7:01 pm
@ WarriorJacket. It looks like your “opinions” and “rantings” in CAPS are the be all to end all.You must have plenty of splinters on your behind from straddling the fence. You do make a valid point through, and that is I really don’t need to participate in this blog, especially since you act like you’re the only one that should be talking! I had no idea how down and dirty folks could be when someone has an opposing opinion. Like I said before good luck with the politics on the college level, if you actually get a shot. Nala7…signing off..I’m out. lmao
November 22nd, 2010 at 7:07 pm
What is going on with Dad? I think he’s hitting way below the belt by directly insulting someone’s children. Name calling like that is not cool man. I know you guys really get into the sport and this blogging thing, but this is way over the top.
November 22nd, 2010 at 7:23 pm
When can we expect the accal all league teams???
November 22nd, 2010 at 7:46 pm
damn sims got b-high to the second round in one year it took carter 3.
November 22nd, 2010 at 8:27 pm
@Joe,
When the commissioner sends them to us. We haven’t received them yet.
November 22nd, 2010 at 8:43 pm
@ NALA
No need to get dramatic. There are no splinters here. Just blog your info like everyone else.
November 22nd, 2010 at 8:59 pm
By the way james @ berkeley should have won m.v.p. he’s bigger stronger and faster than that little guy @ pinole valley.
November 22nd, 2010 at 9:04 pm
@ Billjohnson
Not take anything away from his coaching efforts but Sims inherited a good team. Carter had to change a losing culture. Each year it got better.
Go Jackets
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Does anyonr knows why the all leauge hasn’t been released?
December 2nd, 2010 at 6:45 pm
Thedude,
As we’ve said a million times, the league has not sent us the team. We don’t release the all-league teams, the commissioner does. When he sends it to us, we’ll release it. But we don’t have any control of him sending it to us.

I know it is old news, be just for kicks if Berkeley’s coach had made it to the all league meeting I think the voting would have went like this:
1st Team offense: Logan Murdock-QB, Keir Abrams-FB, Jamil Whetstone-WR, Jalen Rosales-TE, Mark Harden-OL, Myles Grace-OL
2nd Team Offense: Sir Stewart-WR
1st Team Defense: Phillip Forensant-DT, Reggie #19-DT, Jacai Devenaeu-LB, Devyne Adams-LB, Rashad Albert-DB, Robert Johnson-DB
2nd Team Defense: Malichi Knox-DB,
Rudolfo James would remain first team. I think Isaiah Henderson should be second team due to playing less league games because of an injury. Some may agree, some may slam me but its just my opinion.
