There are seven Bay Area teams competing and four teams ranked in the top 20 in state, led by Chabot, No. 2 NorCal, No. 7 State.  Also, Chabot’s 7-foot center Kyle Luckett is attracting NBA scouts. The Portland Trail Blazers are scheduled to watch him on Wednesday, and the Chicago Bulls attended Chabot’s last game against Modesto JC.
Here is today’s first-round schedule:  Las Positas vs. Contra Costa, 1 p.m.; Merritt vs Cabrillo, 3 p.m.; Alameda vs. Redwoods, 5 p.m., and Chabot vs. Napa Valley, 7 p.m.

Kyle Luckett is the most agile 7 footer in the entire country. He has great hands, exectional timinng blocking shots, with great mechanics with his shot from the field and free throw. In adiition, he has good foot work in the post as well as being able to face up towards the basket shooting jump shots, or putting the ball on the floor driving to the bucket. Kyle also is an exceptional passer both in the open floor and in the post making interior passes.
