Mack’s Taiese to Washington State

McClymonds High offensive lineman Wendell Taiese has committed to Washington State, choosing the Cougars over Arizona State.
The 6-foot-6, 360-pound Taiese visited Arizona State over the weekend before deciding on Washington State, where he visited three weeks ago.
“The academic program was oustanding,” Taiese said. “I know (Washington State’s) going to be something big and I want to be a part of it.”
Taiese is already anticipating Apple Cup meetings with McClymonds teammate Marcus Peters, a defensive back who is headed to Washington.
“I get to play against one of my best friends and tear his head off and not get yelled at by the coach for it,” Taiese said.
Taiese said he’s being looked at to play guard or tackle on either side of the line. He anticipates playing guard as a freshman and sliding over to a tackle position by his sophomore year.

San Jose st. needs to hold themselves accountable. There’s no way a struggling I don’t know what they were this year 1-9 program shouldn’t have offered every blue chip athlete a Scholarship from the Bay Area. They just got a new coach & ususally the new coaches mission statement is lets own our area. What’d they get 1-2 kids from the Bay Area last year? Stupid.

  • c.sparks

how about this year? how many bay kids??

  • ManDown

Congratulations Wendell! I know you will do big things down in Washington and god luck! San Jose State & CAL are crazy for not owning there area. Washington St, Oregon St, and Boise St seem to come down here and pick all the good talent up. I don’t know why they’re not good enough to play for CAL or San Jose St but these other teams seem to think other wise.

  • Big Mike

Congratulations Wendell you are the man! Can’t wait to see you play.

  • Warrior

lol, you said that this year and Cal still raped WSU. guess all the bay kids didn’t do wazzu that well after all

  • Warrior

oh, and you guys still ignore boehm, moala, kline (and now, one more from grant). the fact that you ignore all these norcal athletes still headed to cal discredits your posts.

  • renegades10

All those guys are only one year into the program at WSU. It will be interesting to see what happens when they are juniors and seniors. But Tedford pulled in a nice class this year. Boehm is overrated however, and after Kline’s so-so performance last year I am unsure of that one as well. Moala is solid and Lopa is a nice pickup as well. That D-Line is going to be beastly when these guys are juniors. Gibson and Barr from So-Cal are really good. He will probably get Shaq from Grant next year as well since his bro played for the Bears. But I am in agreement that he has missed the boat on some kids from this area.

Stanford is going to win the battle for the kids coming out of the South Bay who qualify academically except for Carlisle switching which isn’t that surprising and then Boehm which I don’t think is a huge miss.

  • c.sparks

“cal still rapped a wsu.” yeah that pretty much discredits your sports knowlege period.. this was wazzu on a down year and almost pulled of an upst they were young an know there on the come up…” POST #6.. u wana actually watch these kids play?.. u wouldnt sound so dumb

  • c.sparks

and u happen to see boem play at mitty he is highly in accurate and a lil ovverrated.. So this questons .. wait until thse wsu cats grow a little older in 2012 and 2013 we will see what happens to tedford.

  • truetalk

sir, cal raped WSU? double check the score. rickey galvin, damante horton injured. the rest of the bay area-pullman gang redshirted. don’t be ignorant. and he said BAY AREA kids. not sacramento.

  • Warrior

    yeah so?

What was Wazzu’s record in 2010?
What was their record the year before?

    Argument dismissed.

  • Warrior

And who has the better recruiting class, Cal? Or Wazzu? The one with 10 four-stars, or the one with NONE?

  • speakerbox

honestly, tedford haters. you guys are all talk, and no show.

  • c.sparks

Ucs in 2007 also had the best class, that doesnt mean nothing.. You cant get caught up in numbers and MAGIcal 4 star or 5 star recruits… so you dont go off what espn tells u “Mr. i got my facts from espn” and never watched these kids for my self… oregon doesnt have top notch recruting classes like usc and bama and lsu.. but they some how found them selfs in the SHIp.. Aaron rodgers didnt get a d1 scholarship coming out of high school he had to go to jc for some one to finally reconize his talents. And i will answer both your rhetorical questons. 1. CAl. 2. 0-12. and your point is?… i am not arguing who is a better team… I am arguing who has a better future.. Both is looking bright.. wsu was competive towards all there games at the end of the year and there young… On the other hand you go CAL losing alot of talent and they dont know how to grow there “4″ star athlethes.. Wsu is on the cme up.. I AM a cal fan.. just hate tedford.. and queston some of his bay area recruits..

  • c.sparks

    *usc

  • Warrior

Uh-huh…? Who said that Tedford offering Bay Area recruits guaranteed they would to to Cal? Where’s Welter and Atkinson III going? Pretty far from the West Coast!

  • truetalk

how many four-stars did they have last year? and what? not even .500? come on warrior. let’s be competent.

My son has been accepted to University of Idaho. What is the best way to fly there from the bay area? To Spokane and drive or is there a tip to flying into Pullman/Moscow airport from bay area. Thanks.

  • renegades10

Outsider- First off congrats to your son. You can fly into Spokane and it’s about an hour and a half drive from Spokane to Moscow, that’s what I always do. Usually much cheaper to do that because Southwest flies in there as opposed to Pullman/Moscow which is usually Alaska/Horizon I think. If you fly into Pullman/Moscow usually have to connect through Seattle. If you get your tickets early Southwest usually has pretty good deals into Spokane. Are you guys flying out here to check out the school or is your son doing Vandal Friday to sign up for classes? I’d be more than happy to show you guys around.

  • http://ibabuzz.com PERKIN

Good point about Cal. My real problem is with San Jose st. What the hell is the problem down there? They’re not geting any good athletes from what I’ve seen. I don’t get it. If they stayed on these athletes from the Bay & established good relationships which they really can they could drive to a school once a month if they wanted too I’m sure they could land a lot of these Blue Chip guys. Once they get a bunch it becomes a pipe line. They’ve got the Rep of being a 1AA team or a really goo D-2 team. They’re division 1 step it up. They’re in the WAC which has different kind of offenses so they don’t need strictly Pro style guys like the Pac-10.

    Renegades10
Thanks for the info. You are in grad school there if I remember correctly. My son wants to major in Wildland Fire Management. We are thinking of going to Vandal Friday on April 1 both to see the place and to sign up if he decided to commit.

  • E_CULB

    Big Wendell,

Im extremely proud of you, I knew this day would come and Im happy for you and your family.

  • Bulldogforever

Hey Wendell, congratulations, we’ll see you on TV.

Perkin- You shouldn’t be so hard on SJ State. They contacted all 3 of our D1-bound players at Alhambra, and worked very hard at convincing them to go to SJ. Bryant Young is a very effective recruiter, and losing him to Florida in the last month was bad timing for SJ, but I’m sure that they will bounce back.

  • renegades10

Outsider- No not in grad school. Finishing up my undergrad this year and next year. Had some time off between my first school and this one and started over with a new major so had quite a bit of units to take for it. Let me know if you guys for sure decide to come up here in April and need any more info. Like I said, the offer to show you around still stands.

    Renegades10
I would like to get off the blog and be able to send private messages. Any idea how to do this without the obvious posting of email addresses?

  • Prep Fan

I bet Jimmy or Ben could hook you guys up. They see everyone’s e-mail addresses and might be able to share privately if you guys both agree to it?

  • http://ibabuzz.com/prepcorner Jimmy Durkin

Outsider and Renegades10, both shoot me an e-mail to jdurkin@bayareanewsgroup.com. When I receive e-mails from both of you, I’ll forward to the other person so you both have each others.

  • truetalk

its pretty clear warrior is out of the loop, so politely ignore him. congratulations Wendell, don’t let ignorant people discredit your hard work. You earned your scholarship to a top notch program, both academically and athletically, so go and compete. You’re a stand-out student athlete, and if Tedford and his followers can’t accept that, then they’ll just have to deal with it come fall.

  • Speakerbox

Some Cal fan you are, C.sparks. “I’m a Cal fan, but I’m wishing that Cal loses to Wazzu just because I hate Tedford and because he doesn’t recruit enough bay area athletes!”

  • Warrior

Um, what? Since when was I discrediting Taiese’s hard work? It’s clear that this is a huge accomplishment to go to a university and play college football. And you can’t really rip too hard on Cal’s finish this year, I mean come on, they lost their starting QB. Come on, Truetalk. Let’s be rational, instead of blinded by hate for Tedford.

  • Speakerbox

Seriously, in the end, you all still have no lives while I’m the one in the football stands, getting my degree from Cal, cheering on our team and making it somewhere. Your whining and moaning about Tedford isn’t going to solve anything, it won’t stop me from making more than you do or ever will someday, and it won’t stop Cal from losing to Wazzu down the road.

  • BayAreaHeart

“you said that this year and Cal still raped WSU. guess all the bay kids didn’t do wazzu that well after all”
this is the kind of support being shown. Lol, congratulations Wendell.

  • c.sparks

Post #29. yes, Thats true? what where is the premisis of your arguement, you dissected a very small portion of my argument and try to use it againest me like Fox news.. Nice try rookie.. Read my whole post, and you will see why i am highly upset with Jeff tedford

  • c.sparks

*speakerboxx you dont sound like some one that goes to Cal, whats your mayjor what building is most of your classes in, lol i am gonna expose you.

  • bear56

Guys in the last 2 years Cal has brought in arguably their best classes under Tedford. The point is it takes about 3 years to see how these recruits develop. Until the last 2 years cal had been bringing in very mediocre classes with exception to the 2005 class that had desean and bishop but even those classes didn’t have the depth that these past 2 years have had. Cal has NEVER brought this many quality defensive players. Give it another year or 2 and the bears will have the best defense on the west coast. They just need to figure out the right guy at QB and the bears will do big things these next few years. The talent is there.

  • vikingfootball

Congrats to another Oakland student athlete doing what it takes to get to the next level. OAL finds a way each year to represent on a high level.
