It will be interesting to see how MSJ does in the playoffs. I know they haven’t played a tough schedule, but 23-1 is impressive nonetheless. While I can’t see them beating Carondelet or Berkeley, a matchup against a Deer Valley or Monte Vista could be a good game. There won’t be much activity here until the playoffs begin.

what divison is msj?
February 15th, 2011 at 12:37 pm
They are Division 1, so it is an uphill battle for them with Carondelet and Berkeley and only 2 spots avaialble for NorCals this year in D1.
February 15th, 2011 at 3:16 pm
Yep it’s Berkeley and carondelet n both d1 championship games . I’m thinking maybe a deer valley Monte vista match up 1st round, who u got ?
February 15th, 2011 at 3:31 pm
I would take DV in that one, but they should both be in the top 6 or 7, so they may not play until the 2nd round.

This div 1 ncs championship is boring…..2 teams only.
Can Mission or DV beat one of the top 2?
The only thing worst is div 2…..dougherty valley has a cake walk to norcals.
What happened to the days of 3-5 teams competing for an NCS championship?

I’d like to see the DV vs MV matchup. At first blush DV should win. But I’d probably bet on MV for the following reasons:
1. MV sees Clets press twice a year and that’s just as good as DV’s so they should be able to handle it.
2. MV will play zone an force DV to shoot outside which isn’t their strength.
3. Kaylie Williams of MV is the x factor….she’s a senior and she should be able to dominate down low.
4. Last but not least, Raven Fox can win a game or lose a game all by herself.
So with all that said, I’d bet on MV. Thought?

It’s likely any NCS game involving Berkeley or Carondelet will get ugly (until those two play each other), but there should be some entertaining first round and quarterfinal games in D-I. Just look at how competitive the other playoff-bound teams in the EBAL, MVAL and BVAL have been with each other this year. Deer Valley is probably the next closest thing to a semifinal lock.
Division III should be interesting too, though maybe not until the semis.
February 16th, 2011 at 3:22 pm
DV to fast for MV. Only strong teams with a lot of club girls can handle that press, just like all of the teams they have lost to. Raven fox is Deer valley . 7 times this year she been played in a box n 1 defense, just don’t think those type of players loose games all by them selfs. Come correct #7
February 16th, 2011 at 8:13 pm
I’m coming correct. I was trying to give Raven a compliment. Net net, if Raven doesn’t get the ball and score then DV loses. She’s their best Player on the court and needs the ball in her hands….sometimes shes too unselfish! If she doesn’t get the ball…..DV can be beat! And yes, DV is faster than MV an probably any other team in NCS….but if you have good fundamentals you can beat the press or at least throw over it.

What are your top 5 Div III teams
February 17th, 2011 at 2:03 pm
I would say top five in Div. III are Bishop O’Dowd, Campo, Miramonte, Moreau Catholic and Analy. Can’t say I know much about Analy but they have won 19 in a row after starting the season 1-5.
February 17th, 2011 at 2:57 pm
I would have to agree with you. Playoffs are going to be interesting!
February 17th, 2011 at 3:11 pm
I believe St Marys-Berkley is Div 4. Are they a lock?
February 17th, 2011 at 3:19 pm
I would think that SMB is as much of a lock for D4 as there is. They are by far the top rated team, and about the only thing between them and NorCals is possibly being too complacent and takng a team lightly. Although there are some pretty decent D4 teams in the North Bay such as Marin Catholic, Justin-Sienna & Branson & way, way up north McKinleyville. They will only have to play one of those teams, and not until they had already clinched a NorCal berth. If they play their game, they shouldn’t have any trouble at all advancing.
February 17th, 2011 at 3:22 pm
I meant to say they only needed to beat one of those teams to advance. Chances are those are the teams fighting for the right to play SMB in the semis and the finals.
February 18th, 2011 at 2:15 pm
Well the D1 race just got more interesting. Read Kristina Hunter from Berkeley just got ruled eligible for the playoffs by a judge. Clear favorites now!
Time to go get the story Cc times.

BAD NEWS FOR carondelet !
