Boys basketball player Jacari Whitfield and girls basketball player Carmen Lockhart have both committed to universities, St. Joseph Notre Dame announced this afternoon.
Whitfield, a third-team all-Bay Area News Group East Bay guard this season, will sign on April 13 with Cal State East Bay, according to the press release. Lockhart, a 6-foot-4 post player, has orally committed to Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
Whitfield sank five 3-pointers for a game-high 15 points in the Pilots’ 47-44 victory over St. Bernard-Playa del Rey in the California Interscholastic Federation Division V state championship game. He averaged 13 points and six assists this past season.
Lockhart averaged 10.7 points per game during the Pilots’ postseason run to the first CIF Division V Northern regional girls championship game in the team’s history. She scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Pilots’ 52-29 victory over Rincon Valley Christian in the North Coast Section Division V championship game.
