Campolindo High senior Chandler Moore grew up in the Lamorinda area, and has competed against, and played with girls from that area since junior high.
Never did she think she’d be playing NCAA Division I volleyball in New York, and having a fellow Lamorinda girl as a teammate… but that is exactly what is happening.
The middle hitter that helped lead the Cougars to a CIF Division III state title has committed to Fordham University, where she will be joining former Miramonte standout Mary Diamantidis.
“I am more than excited to be playing at Fordham University with Mary next year,” Moore said. “Earlier this year I was only talking to California schools and I had it set in my mind that there was no way I would play out of state. When Fordham contacted me it was almost surreal. At first I didn’t think much about it until my little brother started telling me i was crazy for not even considering it.”
After listening to her little brother, she and her family visited with the Diamantidis family, and the next thing you know Moore was on her way for a visit. She fell in love with the campus and committed two days later and since has not doubted her decision.
“Mary and her teammates were so nice and made me feel at home, and the coaches did the same,” Moore said. “Not once did I feel like it wasn’t where I should be.”
Chandler also added that Diamantidis, who will be a sophomore for the Rams, has already established herself around campus.
Not only is Mary extremely talented but she is super nice and easy to get along with,” Moore said. “When I was walking around with her at Fordham I felt like I was walking with a celebrity because everyone knew who she was and loved her.”
