...Btw, if anyone has a good chance to topple DLS I agree it would have to be Deer Valley. Should be a great match-wish I could be there!

Enough talk about the games that have occurred. Let's predict how the finals will turn out. I say in all 3 divisions the matches go 5 games.......my prediction, for what it's worth:
Deer Valley upsets DLS
Campolindo over Drake
College Prep over SPSV

I dont think anyone can claim that Mission San Jose is "weak"; they beat Foothill, Deer Valley (*w/o Jason), Cal, and James Logan... NCS tournamet teams. (and took DLS to 5)

Did anyone else in their league beat a team that made the NCS tournament? Not sure, but I dont think so. I think that the claim can be made than the MVAL is weaker than EBAL. Thats fine. Same goes for every other league in NCS. There are still good teams in the MVAL (and every other league in NCS). They all have dedicated players, players that play club and want to get better and improve the sport in the Bay Area.

Even though it has been 14 years and counting, that MVAL has not won an NCS Championship, they are not a "weak" league. Even though 11 of the past 13 NCS Champions are in EBAL (*if you count DLS) they are not the toughest league. ... oh wait, yes they are. But there are still standouts in each league that are good, if not great. And we should applaud them for improving their school, league, section and the sport.

To THEanonymous- No need to apologize-no offense taken. The bottom line is we're all volleyball fans here rooting for our teams and/or league. Some of us are trying to gain respect, others are trying to justify respect. When you say things like "since they were in such an easy league" it tells me that MSJ/MVAL still might not have your respect. If you meant "easy" because only 2 of the 6 MVAL teams are legit, D1 sized schools(well over 2000 students)-then you might have a point. But if you're just regurgitating the "every league is weak/easy if they're not the EBAL league" bit seen in these forums, then we might have to get you to come out to see other teams/leagues so that you and others might throw some of that respect our way.
Unless you've played, coached, reffed or watched a number of games in or vs the MVAL, you might not really have a reason to give respect where its due. Most everyone regards the EBAL as exceptional, but that doesnt mean others can't be good also. Again, some of us are trying to gain respect, others are trying to justify it.

I'm sorry if I offended people on the forum, I did not really realize I was so bold with my prediction regarding Mission San Jose. It turned out I was dead wrong, which may be because I did not anticipate what an excellent school Mission San Jose was academically and how this played into a lot of their sports. I thought that since they were in such an easy league and did not have a terribly great record outside of their league that they were cocky and all. It therefore seemed to me like the Warriors would be doing great against the Grizzlies early on and then watch the Grizzlies come right back and take them. The Grizzlies did make comebacks but had the door shut on them in the end. That is where I realized I was wrong, that MSJ is a smart team and knew what they were doing the whole time. It took me until the game was over to realize it, because EBAL play has me so accustomed to seeing intense consistency from game to game which emphasizes the concept of treating every point in the entire game of equal performance and never assuming something like when just because a team is up two sets to none that they will come out a winner. That is why what I had said at the beginning was entirely geared around the notion that the Grizzlies would win that title, because after all, they are an all-or-nothing team from the get-go. They weigh the titles in a great amount of importance and structure their athletics around clearing such milestones, the right milestones. (i.e. qualifying for playoffs, winning a title, keeping the consistency going into next year) Take Brian Alexander, the Cal barrow. I've been good friends with him and know his athletic reproach very well as to know Cal is like such. He always seems to play the best when Cal needs him to the most, and seems to instinctively know when opportunity is holding its' door handle within reach. Of course, there are other players on the team that seem to have this unusual sense. Under these conditions, Cal would have probably only beaten MSJ if it was a scenario where they would have had a great shot at DLS and then the title. That's probably why they thought what they did. Maybe that answers your "all bite, no bark" comment EastBay Funk, and gives you an idea why we the EBAL are so full of our own mighty kingdom.

MSJ, I didn't mean to be rude to the Warriors if that's why you asked what you did, and what you asked is similar to what I would ask you since your team was still in, how could they take down DLS and maintain consistency to beat Deer Valley or Amador? Hope for the best, believe in your team, and sorry for being bold. At the time of this post it looks like your match is in the latter stages, so until then I guess...
