HAAL re: #104. It started raining prior to the beginning of the 5th inning in the BOD-Irv game and continued off and on until the game was postponed ater 9. The point being that they played through the rain with only a couple of delays and the reason it was called was due to darkness and not because of the weather.

One BOD kid was hit in the head with a foul ball while inside the dugout and the game was stopped for about 10-15 minutes while he was attended to. I sure hope that kid is OK.

Coach K has his moments. 2 things definitely caught my eye about him yesterday that people in the stands were talking about. The first was a pitchout call with a 2-1 count. The runner was not going and the next pitch was ball 4 putting that runner on 2nd base. A head scrather to be sure. The second was pure brilliance. In the 9th inning with a runner on 1st base with 2 outs, he put in a pinch hitter to go up left handed and crowd the plate to make it tougher for the catcher to throw down to 2nd base. The pinch hitter was right handed, but stood in the left handed batter's box for that one pitch. The runner stole on the first pitch, and he immediately put another hitter in to finish the at bat with a 1-0 count on him. The run didn't score, but it was obvious Coach K was trying everything he knew of to try to score runs.

Guest..I must have heard wrongly from a BOD parent. Apologies for thinking there was a Baseball Conditioning Instructor. Guess that kid should ignore the workout regimen given to him. Also, the kid won't have time to work on it in the summer anyway due to the mandatory clinics.

As for the HAAL, Arroyo will stop the Alameda base runners by falling on top of them during pick-offs and landing on the base runner's hands with their knees before the runner slides hand first back in to the bag. Seen it a lot in the HAAL.

If the game resumes in the middle of the inning, funny how Arroyo won't have to pitch from the mud mound in their half of the 2nd inning. It will be nice and dry for them. If NCS was looking for equity, you would re-start from the beginning of the 2nd inning. No one on - no outs with 1 run lead. If it resumes where it left off, then the game should be considered part of last week with Pauselius limited in pitching due to his 7 inning game against Las Lomas.

Somebody else asked this but why do you have a 5:00 pm start on Saturday. Moreau had to drive all they up to San Marin to have them call the game at 5:00 when the umps arrived. Apparently, it wasn't raining until 4:00 pm. had they started at 1:00 pm we could have gotten the game in. Not only that, but they rescheduled at 5:00 pm on Tuesday. How about rescheduling on Monday when everyong is off work?

Just a quick comment on Coach K from BOD. I have gotten to see him coach for 5 years. I think he is great coach. His teams are well prepared and while I understand some don't like all the chatter from the third base box it is always postive. Further, I would say this year is his best coaching, this BOD team is not loaded with a lot of big hitters like previous years so he gotten the best out of the players he's had this year.

HAAL Baseball Observations:

1) What happended to Castro Valley? No Narahara? Thug wannabees at CV? Can't imagine happening in CV - maybe Logan but not CV.
2) Most teams wanted an earlier Saturday start due to weather forecasts and Memorial Day weekend. NCS folks are a bunch of idiots. How did Antioch do?
3) Arroyo had Sr Prom on Friday - players out til late...why play early right?
4) Alameda/Arroyo pitchers had mud/clay problems with their shoes - thus was going to be an all "arm" no "leg" pitching contest with Arroyo having advantange batting first as visitors and stronger pitcher using less mechanical movement. Was going to be a walk fest eventually as you can't pitch without legs the whole game. Could ruin a kid's arm in one game.
5) Pauselius batting 8th - you have got to be kidding me....Kelly batting 7th.. he's out batted most kids on the Alameda line up except for Elzig.
6) BOD/Irvington - they did not play the whole game in the rain as someone said. Was not raining through the 5th...can now use Ross in their continuation and roll into the next round.
7) Why should Alameda play elsewhere other than Lincoln Park? They won their League, was #1 in EB Polls, thus home field advantage. Also there is historical tradition of that field back to the early 1900s.
8) Arroyo can now pitch Pauselius with a new week and additional rest. He can match up against the top pitchers in the Bay Area but gets no recognition. Where is Alameda's Yee? Something must be wrong as he has not appeared in first two games.
9) BOD should do well each year as their kids have mandatory summer clinics or don't make the team. They also have the advantage of being a private school with a baseball conditioning instructor.
10) Going to be an exciting Monday - BOD/Irvington, Arroyo/Alameda.
