All-East Bay Boys Volleyball

MVP: Jason Agopian, Deer Valley
Coach of the Year: Blair Sly, College Prep

H- Jason Agopian, Deer Valley, Sr.
Agopian will go down as one of the best players the North Coast Section has seen. The UC Irvine-bound senior won player of the year honors in the BVAL, was the East Bay Player of the Year and was a First-Team All-American. He had 456 kills on the year.

H- Zaki Sarwary, Mission San Jose, Sr.
Sarwary developed from a very good hitter his junior year to one of the best hitters in the East Bay. The Warriors senior nearly helped lead the team past De La Salle and into the Division finals. He ended the year with 288 kills, 172 digs, 32 aces, 22 blocks and was the MVAL MVP.

H- Peter Edwards, De La Salle, Jr.
One of the most feared hitters in the East Bay, he also comes with the best serve in the area. The junior was third in the East bay with 327 kills as he had 194 digs and an incredible 97 aces in earning first team All-EBAL honors.

M- Brendan Byrne, De La Salle, Sr.
The MVP of the EBAL, Byrne finished the year with 252 kills and 85 blocks. He came up big all year, and established himself as the top middle in the area and he had 10 kills and four blocks in the NCS title game against Deer Valley.

M- John Hayes, De La Salle, Sr.
It’s not often that the top two middles in the area play on the same team, but that was the case with the Spartans. Hayes was first team All-EBAL and had 230 kills and 56 blocks.

S- Dan Cleland, Amador Valley, Sr.
Once again, Cleland separated himself as the best setter in the East Bay. He made the EBAL’s first team a year after being the league’s MVP he had 727 assists, 120 digs, 63 kills, 43 blocks and 39 aces.

L- Brian Yi, Deer Valley, Sr.
The Wolverines certainly had plenty of offense and plenty of big hitters, but Yi played a huge role on this team. The area’s top defender was first team All-EBAL and had 336 digs.


H- Mitchell D’Angina, Clayton Valley, Sr.
First team All-DVAL. 333 kills, 57% hitting.

H- Jason Lee, Campolindo, Sr.
First team All-DFAL.

M- Dylan Blackstone, Campolindo, Sr.

M- Marcus Lee, Deer Valley, Soph.
251 kills, 82 blocks, first team All-BVAL.

S- Nick Csongor, Foothill, Sr.
First team All-EBAL. 401 assists, 113 digs, 84 kills not counting tourney’s (projected 650 assists)

S- Michael Doherty, De La Salle, Sr.
Second team All-EBAL. 1004 assists, 47 blocks, 26 aces.

L- Brian Alexander, California, Sr.
First team All-EBAL. 243 digs, 23 aces.


H- Jon Harold, Foothill, Sr.
First team All-EBAL. 154 kills, 140 digs, 30 blocks not counting tourney’s (projected 250 kills)

H- Cole Markley, Acalanes, Sr.
First team All-DFAL. 195 kills.

H- Mark Cleland, Amador Valley, Sr.
First team All-EBAL. 263 kills, 174 digs, 50 aces.

M- Randeep Rana, Logan, Sr.
First team All-MVAL.

S- Daniel Eager, College Prep, Sr.
BCL MVP. 686 assists, 43 aces.

S- Mitch Sanregret, Northgate, Sr.
DVAL MVP. 360 assists, 60 digs, 22 aces.

L- Evan Chua, Mission San Jose, Sr.
First team All-MVAL. 192 digs.
