State schools of the year named

Got some kudos to hand out on another sweltering summer afternoon. CalHiSports.com has named its state schools of the year, and we’ve got two on the list.

De La Salle was named state school of the year for boys schools only. It’s the sixth time the Spartans have won the boys award, and they’ve won the overall award (given to Long Beach Poly this year) three times.

Campolindo also makes the cut as the Division III school of the year. It’s the second time the Cougars have earned that distinction, and they were led this year by state champions in cross country (team and Carrie Verdon) and volleyball (team).

For details on why these schools earned distinction, check out the link above.
