San Ramon Valley senior-to-be Michael Tagliaferri on Monday became the first Californian ever to make the U.S. men’s under-19 national lacrosse team.
Tagliaferri survived a rigorous four-day tryout at the University of Maryland among 123 candidates to make the 23-man squad as a middie. The U.S. team will participate next summer in the 2012 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Under-19 World Championships in Turku, Finland.
Tagliaferri, one of just five high school players on the national team that is selected ever four years, will return as a member on the San Ramon Valley football team next season. He will play safety/running back and slot receiver. He has orally committed to North Carolina for lacrosse
