Hey blackandred…… Im sure you are one of those parents who is the first to volunteer when coachy poo needs to ask the PARENTS for money. Why are you the first to volunteer??? Well, as you know blackandred the PARENTS in Danville/Blackhawk ALWAYS give money to coachy poo when he needs it so it make YOU look good like you worked really really hard to get money from the parents…. LOL

Sounds like YOU don’t like the grunt work but rather speak badly about the good people of Danville/Blackhawk who are yes VERY involved in their children’s sports…. SO WHAT

MV does lose a lot to graduation this is clear, but they have been in a similar situation before and succeeded just like any other year. In 09 they only returned two top players Wilkerson and Nottingham and went 9-4. Although this year the only big name they return is Lockie I don’t see it being a down year. With Monte Vista’s offense the most important position is QB and if their best player is their QB then they will be fine. This team is not young but it is inexperienced. A lot of the new faces will be seniors that had to sit on the bench behind last year’s team. The names have already been mentioned Neil, Wexlar, Ertz, Johnson, Briz, Scritchfeild, Melin, Stanton, Lim, Turner, Turcott, and Chang. Monte Vista with a good QB does not have down years because of their offense. Now if you want to say it is a down year because they wont play DLS as close then yes you can say they lack the toughness needed to do that. The one overlooked aspect of this team is they may have a bigger then usual line for MV.

oh boy, you must be refering to post 139. I get it. And yes this something played out everywhere. But I think it is worse in a place like Danville/Blackhawk.

Not sure what your getting at oh boy, but that kids dad is probably his harshest critic.Not one to make excuses. Just something that came up in conversation between dads.The season will tell the story. I think MV does better than expected,but some young guys will have to step up for sure.

Congrats to former OAL standout Seth Smith from Oakland Tech High and New Mexico State, he signed on with the 49ers on Tuesday and is currently in camp doing well. Great to see another inner city kid get an opportunity at the next level. I am sure he will do a great job.

Agreed ABF and I think you will see a different player in the fact he wont be pressing so much. I talked to his dad last year and he said Troy told him that they will throw one ball his way early in the game if he catches it they will come back to him, if he does’nt they won’t. That puts alot of uneeded pressure on the kid. I think this year will be like freshman ball where he does not feel that pressure. I dont remember him dropping one ball as a freshman. He had 12 catches against DLS alone in their only loss that season. We will see.I still say Lockie looks for him early & often.

@Blackandred…… MV has had very good lines but this year is questionable. My problem with Johnson is he is NOT consistent. Dropping a ball every now and then has to be NEVER when you’re facing big guys like DLS, CAL, SRV and others.

B&R I am obviously an MV fan and I will agree that Troy can be a special player but his hands over the last 2 yrs have been extremely suspect he needs to work on this to get to the next level which I believe he can play at. As for the line i think they have had some really good lineman over the last 4-5 yrs, this yr thou just don’t know. As far as T-bird ball they always have good teams and I think every parent has that aspersions to have their kid be a star on the team it is up to the coaches to let the kid know were he needs to play.

Also as someone commented “with all the D1 players MV sends out each year why are’nt they competing for the championship more often”? It comes down to the linemen .MV will always have great skill players, but their line will be suspect. It starts with the Blackhawk parents who in T-birds don’t little Johnny playing the line because he is a QB or a RB. He needs to be the star. Mommy and daddy don’t want him doing the grunt work. And that works its way all the way to high school. They just had a kid quit this year who was playing center but wanted to be a running back instead.
