Today we head north to take a look at some of the Redwood Empire teams that should be around come playoff time.

Today we step back to talk about the biggest news of the offseason regarding California football: the addition of regional football championships beginning in 2012. How will they work? Whom will they benefit? How will they affect teams?
Sorry for the delay everyone. Been out of the office. Today we continue with our breakdown of the best players in the area by position. Jimmy’s smart for taking defense, because he got to talk about some guys we hadn’t mentioned before. I, on the other hand, will throw out some very familiar names.
First, a venting session. I had this post all typed up and a glitch on our blog somehow deleted it. So I apologize for the delay. Anyways, we continue on by going to the audience for a question. We saw this one a couple of times. Who are the best players at each position in the East Bay?
We’ll start this discussion by talking defense. Ben will go on the offensive tomorrow.
Wanted to pass along some info on the Wendy’s High School Heisman award that I got today. This is a really cool national award that goes to a high school athlete who “demonstrated a commitment to academic achievement, community service involvement, leadership and accomplishments in the athletic arena.”
The award is open to high school seniors scheduled to graduate in 2012. They ultimately pick one male and one female.

Today, we take a question from the gallery.
Heritage was a big shocker when they beat Pitt in the 1st round last year. Will anyone challenge Pitt in the BVAL this year?
Alright, it’s time to talk about the Town. That’s Oaktown. So here, the question: who’s gonna run the town in 2011?
And now we come to the big kahuna. Division I has been pretty simple to figure out for as long as we can remember, and this year probably shouldn’t be any different. We wrap up our look at each NCS division today with a look at D-I.
What a year it was last season in Division II. Concord’s 40-37 thriller over Rancho Cotate in the championship game at the Coliseum was a classic. Ricky Lloyd was a star not only in the history books, but also on the Internet. (see here AND here). So, what should we expect out of this year’s Div. II field as we continue our journey of predicting NCS champions?
