Battle in the Bay set for Saturday

There are a couple quality football showcases in the Sacramento area this weekend, but we actually have one a little closer to home should you want to catch a couple games in one spot.

This one takes place Saturday at Diablo Valley College and is called the Battle in the Bay. The first game kicks off at 5 p.m., and features Ygnacio Valley and Acalanes. At 8 p.m., 2010 CIF Division II champ Folsom takes on San Ramon Valley in a battle of two extremely good teams.

I actually spoke with Folsom coach Kris Richardson on Friday, and this weekend represents a pretty cool homecoming for him considering he went to high school across the street at College Park and also played at DVC. He’s not the only one on the Folsom staff with a local tie (asst. coach Jeff Badger also played at DVC),  and he said the entire staff is fired up to come down and coach.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. See you there!

The link has been down for me too unfortunately. And twitter has nothing on this game. I’d recommend checking contra costa times scoreboard or calpreps, I think the game has concluded by now and results may very soon be up.

How was Kline for SRV? Folsom an excellent team and program.

YoMama, Kline played very well. I thought he made some extremely good passes, and showed good judgement when it came to pulling it down and running. Folsom is very, very good. Trosin is picking up where Graves left off. I expect good things from both those teams this year.
