  1. George Manley Says:

When you take a look at the current poll….Pittsburg, California, San Ramon,Miramonte,Freedom and Antioch could take a drop after Friday nights games or a step up…All six must win…But some body is going to take a fall and it is Pittsburg that has the most to loose. And Valley Christian of Dublin although 5-0 did recieve votesthey have a win over Dougherty Valley..but no great victories…I wonder if in the near future that they might move to the DFAL or if the EBAL is spit up they move there…???

  2. ManDown Says:

    1. DLS- Will run through the EBAL
    2. California- What does the close game with MV mean?
    3. Logan- Right spot for this team. Look tough to beat this year.
    4. Encinal- Young and getting ready to peek.
    5. SRV- May jump if hey can get past Cal High
    6. Freedom- Looking good.
    7. Las Lomas- They could win D2. Chance for undefeated season?
    8. Miramonte- What will they do in league? That will tell us where they stand.
    9. Pitt- Always disappointment.
    10. Salesian- Can’t wait until they play better teams. Should be higher on the list
    11. Campo- Still undefeated and have been solid.
    12. MV- IDK how a feel about them
    13. Concord- On the rise?
    14. Antioch- Can’t believe they are on this list. Good job
    15. Berkeley- R. James makes them a better team. Lets see if they can win league

  3. S1lverngreen Says:

    Mandown,
Good breakdown! I am wondering about Pitt, hard to tell what they’ll bring week to week…any insight into Dublin?

  4. ManDown Says:

Enicnal vs SPSV- SPSV is very down this year and the Jets have had success against the Bruins and there Veer Offense. Whats going on down in Vallejo there this year? As we hear the Jets are young and getting charged up for playoffs.
    Encinal wins 48-14

Las Lomas vs Miramonte- This will be a hard fought game for 4 quarters. I like the Knights this year but R. Anderson will give the Mats hope late but come up short.
    Las Lomas wins 24-21

Cal High vs SRV- Cal steps it up a notch this week for the Wolves and there defense will step up and there will be nothing Kline can do about it.
    Cal wins 35-21

BOD vs Tennyson- I don’t see Tennyson beating BOD but the Lancers have been a surprise this year and will give BOD a fight for the HAAL crown. I think Nickerson has his boys ready for this one.
    BOD wins 35-18

Alameda vs PV- PV has fallen off big tie this year and without star player James Lewis I don’t see them getting any better in one week. Alameda will take advantage and want revenge for last year whipping. UPSET ALERT!
    Alameda wins28-20

Campo vs Dublin- Campo looks good but I think Wade has a good thing going on down in Dublin. They have already taken strides and they have some pretty good athletes that handle the rock over there. The play of Stephans will be huge in this game and he has been stellar this year
    Campo wins 28 dublin 17

Hayward vs Arroyo- Hayward is getting better after the early season struggles. May be a real contender for the HAAL crown in the end but if Hayward is for real then they should be able to handle the Dons. I think they do.
    Hayward wins 35-14

Pitt vs Freedom- Freedom has a real chance to send out a statement against this Pitt team by winning on friday. I think Freedom will step it up and give Pitt all they have in a hard fought battle until the end. When was the last time Freedom beat Pitt?
    Freedom wins 21-18

  5. Pitt Grunt Says:

Oh boy. The comments are trending towards “Pitt, loaded with talent, continues to underachieve.” From all I have witnessed this year, Pitt at 3-2, with its non-conference schedule, is about right. Two victories over EBAL teams is nothing to apologize over. As good as Granite Bay is, I thought we played them tougher than the score indicated (ugh, I know, an attempt at a moral victory). Scrolling through the comments in the live chat today, I think it was Ben who said Pitt shot itself in the foot with penalties against GB. Ironically, If anyone was in attendance at the Pitt-GB game, something happened between coach Galli and the officials before the game began. I was in line stocking up with Mecca burritos but when I came back to my seat one of my buddies made mention that the officials were upset and bet me that the flags were going to be flying, and not in Pitts favor. I took the bet. Dam if he was not right. I would love to know what Galli did to anger the officials. Why I find humor in this is beyond me.

Before anyone writes-off Pitt, Pitt has been in this situation before, such as last year. I actually like the match ups against Freedom. The closes team to Freedom Pitt has faced is Monte Vista. Both teams like to throw the ball but I think Lockie is a more polished QB than Mayes. Pitt is a physical running team and I don’t think Freedom has faced a team with a similar offense. Pitt is not a throwing team. The key to this game, in my humble opinion (remember BVAL Expert, I said humble opinion) will be whether Freedom’s defense can stop Pitt’s running game. Freedom will move the ball and score some points and Pitt will force Freedom to punt. But can Freedom slow down that big mostly junior offensive line for 4 quarters? If Freedom can do this, than they will win. If not, than it will a reply of the Pitt-Monte Vista game were Pitt overwhelmed them in the 2nd half. Should be a fun and exciting game.

  6. BVAL Expert Says:

    Freedom 21 pittsburg 14

  7. BVAL Expert Says:

We will see what happens can go either way

  8. scoop Says:

I guarantee, when pitt gets a new good coach they should , one of the most dominate teams in the bay if not the state of california, MARK MY WORDS!

  9. Chuck Says:

I think tennyson is good this year and they are going win the bod game behind the star athlete raysean martin this kid is an playmaker.

  10. BVAL Expert Says:

New coach AHAHAHAHAHA this wont happen anytime soon I bet Galli will be their till he retires from teaching. Hes still a young guy in teaching years. I think hes has been coaching as long as Hartwig has too(Freedom)

  11. Pitt Grunt Says:

    @ Scoop,

Pitt was the same when Cockerham and White were coaching in the 90′s. The “Pitt is loaded with talent” statement gets way overplayed.

    @ BVAL Expert,

While I obviously disagree with the outcome you predict, I think the game will be much more high scoring. Again, should be fun. There are a lot of close connections between players from these two teams that will add an interesting element.

  12. VC Fan Says:

Valley Christian – Dublin plays Selesian later this month, both team should be undefeated and will be a great game… VC-Dublin has the tools and athletes to beat them… Looking forward to that contest.

  13. HAAL c/o2000 Says:

i had to see tennyson for myself so i watched them last friday and was not impressed. mt eden gave that game away. they fumbled a punt on a fair catch and dropped 3 interceptions. the score was only 33-26 with about 1 min. left before a late td run and an int return on the last play of the game. hope it was only a let down game after a big win. cant wait for hayward/tennyson to see who the king of the hayward schools this year.

  14. KillerD Says:

I picked Freedom over Pitt and will stick with it.

San Ramon will beat Cal high this week, Kline has had a tougher schedulea and this is the week for SRV to show they are the 2nd best ebal team.

Valley Christian is better than every team ranked 11-15 right now.

    Pitt is rated too high

Monte Vista is overratted and should be out of top 15

Campo should be in top 10 and Salesian top 13 or 14

  15. Billjohnson Says:

Tennyson still needs 2 win dis week 2 prove there worth or atleast play tough for 4qtrs. San leandro was a good win 4 dem but with that non league dey played still got lots 2 prove if dey think dey can b a factor n ncs d3. 1 n done n ncs is how i c it!

  16. DFAL Guy Says:

Well the DFAL will begin to take shape this Friday when the four top teams play each other; Las Lomas hosts Miramonte and Campolindo hosts Dublin.

LL vs Miramonte: Unfortunately, neither team has played a difficult schedule. Of the 11 games they have played this season between them, not one of the 11 wins is against a team with a winning record. The key is whether the defense of LL can stop Anderson. The ball control offense with Villa and Miller should be enough to defeat the Matadors. LL wins 22 – 14

Campolindo vs Dublin: Dublin has one quality win (Benicia), as does Campolindo (El Cerrito). Wade and Macy renew their rivalry except Wade now wears the red and white for Dublin; no secrets between these two coaches. Campolindo will score points with its balanced offense, but what really is impressive is their defense. The key will be if Dublin offense can solve what may be the best defensive unit in the DFAL. Campo wins 38 – 15.

  17. mediocre Says:

    Killer D

VC could not beat Concord…not even close. Concord is improving each week. They threw 5 picks and only lost by 2 to Amador, and now a month later after a very good win against a solid Heritage team, Concord appears ready for DVAL play.

  18. Pride Baller Says:

Hey, bring it on VCFan, looking forward to that game. The junior class dominated Pride put up 60+ on VC last year but it was a tight game through three quarters. I think it will be a tall task for VC to get over on Salesian but it’s great to see the program doing so well. Salesian coaches hae the task of keeping the team sharp after a bye week followed by games with Emeryville and St. Liz.

  19. VC Fan Says:

Pride Baller I like the confidence but no one said VC could beat Dougherty Valley or Sequoia either but it happened. As you and I know anything can happen in football. I know VC will be ready!!

  20. Billjohnson Says:

Pride baller how do u c salesian next year competing wit el cerrito n pinole valley? Will dey continue 2 win league championships? Vc fan win league or wat r u really talkn 4! 2nd place n da bfl = no 1 cares!

  21. MiraMan Says:

My one comment on the Miramonte-Las Lomas matchup is that I think there is too much emphasis on Anderson. In my mind, it works somewhat the opposite. I mean certainly Anderson will need to do well in order for the team to move the ball…he is the QB. But I think it needs to be Booze, Pietrikowski, Honnens and Solit that have the big games. If it comes down to Anderson making something happen with his feet, then likely that means the other offensive options aren’t working and things will end badly for Miramonte. I’ll call it here – Booze needs to have a big game in order for Miramonte to win!

  22. Pride Baller Says:

BillJohnson, this is the year for Salesian, it’s the peak, senior dominated with not as much talent following up. It would be a solid seed in the D3 tourney if the coach will do it. Next year, not so much, though my understanding is they will not be in the same league as PV or EC, they’ll be in with Kennedy, Swett, DeAnza, Hercules, SPSV, etc. I don’t know about championships but they won’t be a door mat that’s for sure.

I don’t quite understand your comments regarding VC. Obviously they are good, with two wins that few predicted, good coaching and some talented players. They can make a good run in the D4 tourney.

  23. bvalfan Says:

Pitt 42 Freedom 34….Pitts running game to much for Freedom (If they come to play)..the only way this game changes is if Pitt is forced to throw.

Heritage 34 Antioch 21…Antioch’s weak pre-season schedule is exposed

  24. GAUCHOPRIDE Says:

Dont sleep on ec young, fast and physical team this year and have a lot of jv players starting on varsity strong defense offense havent quite come together yet.Still have alameda and berkeley on schedule.

  25. BVAL Expert Says:

BVAL Fan- every time pitt goes up against a good defense they dont put up as many points. Monta Vista Foothill Granite bay have pretty good defenses regardless if they won or loss the highest they put up was 21 points

  26. SalesianDad Says:

Sorry VC Fan. While you have had some decent wins thus far, I just don’t see anyway that you will compete this year. Prideballer said it right. We hung 60 on you guys last year and this yaers team is better. All we really lost this year was a QB, but our running game makes and O/D line make up for it. I’m sure it will be a heated contest, but I jst don’t see anyone stopping Salesian in DIV. BT

BTW…MaxPreps has Salesian 3 in the DIII bowl rankings, so anything could happen. See ya in Decemeber!

  27. SalesianDad Says:

Sorry…should have proof read my post. That last line should be “stopping Salesian in Div IV.”

  28. Hotman Says:

    Freedom 38 Pitt 18

Pitt has not seen a defense or an offense like Freedom.
They can run all they want but they won’t score much.
Freedom is a 4 th quarter team so
Pitt really don’t know what they’re in for.
This is a good quality team and in my opinion after seeing all
The top teams play Freedom should be ranked #2
Friday night will for sure be filled with excitement

  29. Billjohnson Says:

Prideballer if knightengale hasnt petition up yet he aint gonna do it. Ur a.d already weaseled his way out of being n da same divison as el cerrito pinole valley? Yup sounds like a move knightengale would do.

  30. bvalfan Says:

BVAL Expert….that’s pre-season. It’s league time and I think they’ll show up this week. The only way they have less than 21 is if the run is stopped and they have to pass. In that case, Freedom picks off at least two and has a chance to win this.

  31. hsfootball Says:

#24 i thought pitt put 38 points on monte vista. final score was 38-21, pitt. so, i guess pitt can put more than 21 pts on a good defense. let’s see who throws more interceptions, mayes or watson.

  32. BVAL Expert Says:

Hearing rumors that the Freedom and Pitt game will be on Comcast. Can anyone confirm this.

  33. hsfootball Says:

    xfinity comcast hs football program

    http://www.comcasthometown.com/programDetails.cfm?id=47

  34. Lancer Lou Says:

Not impressed with Tennyson? They moved up and down the field all night on Mt.Eden. As soon as their starters got in the game they went up 33-13. And Tennyson’s offense has more than Martin & Paxton. The other Wide receiver caught 5 passes for over 100 yards & the other running backs were running on Mt.Eden. And their QB Magalanis has passed for over 900 yards & 11 TDs with no interceptions. Their defense averaging like 5 sacks a game. Don’t hate on my Lancers. They are for real.

  35. Prep Fan Says:

It looks like the SRV-Cal game will also be on Comcast, though neither one will be live. There are some nice games on that list that can be viewed. Thanks for the link HSfootball.

  36. suckafree415 Says:

#29……MV a good defense??? LOL HAHAHAHAHAHA since when bro?

  37. CSD Says:

Great Article on CSD’s Star LB out of season before it even began!

    http://www.insidebayarea.com/high-school-sports/ci_19092390

  38. CSD Says:

Big game tmw, CSD vs VCD- Any Predictions?

  39. KillerD Says:

The battle between CSD and VC is going to be a good game from an enterainment pov.

CSD will win 8 games this year but their two losses will come at the bloody hands of VC and Salesian only.

VC has one of the best rushing offenses in northern cali, and CSD can score almost at will.

CSD will need to successfully pull off two or three trick plays for huge gains or scores, and get at least two turnovers to win, with a special teams gaffe by VC too.

    Prediction:

Valley Christian 49 vs. CSD 21

  40. David Says:

@#24 Has MV ever been known for having a good defense? They’ve occasionally had a good player, or two, but never a good defense that I can remember. DLS, SRV, and CAL have had strong defenses in the recent past.

  41. hsfootball Says:

#36, #40 – i was making a point to post #25. i know that mv’s defense is not that good this year. it was a response to post by bval expert. read it again…

  42. Outsider Says:

#41 After seeing the Cal vs MV game on Friday I would say that the MV run defense this year is as good or better than in the past. Their pass defense is not so good.

  43. DVAL Watcher Says:

Hey Jimmy & Ben, when will we see top individual player stats?
Looking forward to comparing # 1 rusher over at Concord with the rest of the RB’s in the area. Thompson’s gotta be on track to start breaking previous years records. Concord’s SOS is no joke. Sorry Las Lomas your SOS was full of cupcakes. May want to chill on the Miller / Villa and company taking Div II. Think that’s going to be the Minutemen repeat !!

  44. renegades10 Says:

Outsider, I don’t believe MV’s rush defense is any better this year. Not after giving up 400 yards rushing twice and 250 to Granada. They only gave up 144 against Cal, but that could be because they decided to stack the box and force Farley to beat them with his arm or an anomaly. But until we see more numbers like those against Cal, I don’t think you can say they are any better.

  45. Prep Fan Says:

I agree R10. MV stacked the box to try to stop the Cal running game, which left their pass defense vulnerable. If not for an untimely fumble and tipped ball that was intercepted by a lineman, Cal could have easily had 33 or 40 points. MV’s defense was better than I expected Friday, but I certainly wouldn’t say that is a strength of that team. The bigger surprise was that MV’s vaunted offense didn’t score in the second half after the initial series following the kickoff. Cal shut them out and outscored the Mustangs 15-0 in the 4th quater. Lockie was brilliant in the 1st half both throwing and runniing the ball, but was clearly outplayed by Farley in the second half when it counted.

  46. ManDown Says:

Lancer Lou, Talk if you guys beat BOD this week. Tennyson has beaten nobody as of yet so I don’t want to hear it buddy.

  47. FNL680 Says:

MV “only” gave up 144 to Cal because Cal had only 45 plays from scrimmage, compared to 67 for MV. Based on MVs 26 pass plays- 11 incompletions- and MV running 15 times over their ave., Cal’s D was on the field a long time. Since Cal had only 22 rushes, down from 35 ave, that explains part of the 144. MV controlled possession, which, in theory, was expected to favor Cal’s ground game. But Cal limited Lockie with their pass D and thus only 26 pass attempts ( down from 33 ave) On about 5 others, mostly third downs, blanket coverage led to scrambles and first downs. With their backs against the wall, Cal opened up their passing game (25 throws vs 12 ave) and Cal/ Farley appeared more like MV/Lockie, going shotgun-empty with 4 wide and drove 78 in 7 plays in 1:00 for the win.

  48. PERKIN Says:

An actual Lancer blogger popped up. Wow. Never thought I’d see the day.

  49. Outsider Says:

#44 I think that one of coach Billici’s weaknesses is not getting off the run game sooner and going to the passing game which Cal has been decent in the past few years. Quinn Kahler was a pretty good throwing QB but in Billici’s first year stuck to the running game only.

  50. CSD Says:

    KllerD-

Have you seen CSD’s game this year? Their QB might be the most underrated QB in Bay Area.

  51. panther4 Says:

Prep Fan, I’ve seen the film of MV/Cal and I think you are way off saying that Cal would have scored or 40 points. MV seemed to dominate the game and gave it away in the end. I’ll admit I was thinking Cal would blow them out again this year, but after watching I’d have to say MV gave the game away. Besides the KO return for a TD, Cal had a tough time scoring in the first half. Will be an interesting game this Friday. I imagine you are a Cal fan and will be there. I plan on attending this game as well.

  52. FNL680 Says:

@51 17-10 at the half, nor 24-17 one play into the fourth is hardly domination. Did MV play unexpected run defense? Props to them for that. Cal had three possessions in the fourth and got two Tds, MV had it same number, needing only a FG and got…zilch. Maybe thats a giveaway, other side says playing not to lose. And kudos to Cal coaches and their first year starters to win it on the two pointer instead of a tie and OT… that takes some wilsons.

  53. Prep Fan Says:

@51, I didn’t say would have scored 40, I said if not for those two inopportune TOs, they could have had 33 or even 40. 33 points would have just been 1 more score. It just makes sense that a team might have been able to score more points by limiting avoidable turnovers. Without the 1st half fumble, it could likely have been 17 all at half. Domination includes playng tough in the second half. MV may have played better in the first half good enough for a 17-10 lead, but there certainly was no MV domination in the second half.

  54. panther4 Says:

Prep, I believe MV turned it over at least once as well, so you can say without that turnover they could have scored again. Or when they were going for it on 4th and a lineman jumped offsides and they had to punt. All I am saying is turnovers are a part of the game and you can’t if or but them. They happened and it is what it is.
FNL, I think my choice of words was wrong. MV didn’t dominate the game but in my opinion played well enough to win. You point out that it was 17-10 at half but Cal’s only TD was on a KO return. Either MV’s D play is an anomoly or Cal’s O isn’t what everyone is saying it is. I believe Granada put up close to 300 yards against MV on the ground, Pitt close to 400. As I said in my earlier post, I am looking forward to this Friday to see how the Grizz and the Wolves fare against each other.

  55. Lancer Lou Says:

San Leandro is a good team and so are my Lancers. You will see. I don’t play so i’m not gonna talk, but my Lancers are fun to watch. So much speed. Don’t get on here and bad mouth them when you haven’t watched them play. God be with my Lancers as they take on all of these naysayers.

  56. VC Fan Says:

CSD has not played anyone this season.. I looked on cal preps
    CSD Wins Record Rating
    Calistoga (CA) 0-5 -42.2
    Encina 0-5 -40.1
    Mission San Jose 2-3 -24.5
    West Campus 0-6 -52.3 -
    Emery 0-6 -49

They have no chance against the powerful VC Vikings..

    Prediction VC – Dublin 60 CSD 0

  57. Prep Fan Says:

True, MV did have a turnover as well, the Mertes interception he grabbed out of the receiver’s hands in mid air. MV might very well and probably would have scored on that drive without that turnover. The point I was making was that MV’s defense was not spectacular, which has nothing to do with their offense turing the ball over. It could have easily been a 32-31 game, which is more like most of their games. When Cal runs back a kickoff, that means they don’t get the ball on offense for that series, and on another drive they fumbled when they were driving past midfield so they had less posessions than normal. If I recall correctly, Cal still had about 150 yards rushing and 250 passing for about 400 yards total, plus the 98 yard kick return.

  58. S1lverngreen Says:

    Prep,
Will Cal or SRV push the Spartans this year? You are pretty insightful on these two squads..i was really concerned earlier this year with Cal, based on recent scores they do not seem as dominant as LY? What say you my friend?

  59. Prep Fan Says:

To this point, Cal certainly doesn’t look as dominant as last season. They rolled through the same preseason schedule they rolled through last season, including a Washington team that gave SRV trouble. They have beaten two perenially strong programs in Foothill and Monte Vista the past 2 weeks but nothing dominant like they did last year. Last season they really had no close games until week 10 vs. DLS. Cal has maintained their strong running game this year and may have found their passing game against MV last week, but in truth Farley has done a great job all season for the Grizz.

However DLS hasn’t looked as dominant as they were last year either. The near loss to the Bells and the STA debacle may give local teams some hope, but until someone beats them they’ll always be a heavy favorite. In fact even if someone does beat them, they will continue to be the heavy favorites. I do think SRV and Cal would have the best shot in league at pushing them, but it would take a herculean effort by either squad.

SRV to me looks to be ahead of where they were last year, and they reached the NCS semis. SRV has looked very good against AV and Mitty, but very pedestrian against Granada and Washington, but came away with victories in both of those games with TDs late in the 4th quarter. I know Kessler would like to beat Cal as he is 0-4 against them since taking over the reigns from current Cal AD Kravitz. He has a balanced team with Cal-bound Kline leading the passing game and Weiss running the ball, and a host of athletic recivers. This looks like 2 similar teams and to me this could go either way. It should be a close game, but we’ll have to see which SRV and which Cal teams show up on Friday.

Friday will answer some questions as to where both of these teams are this season. The winner of this game is likely to have the inside track to 2nd place in the EBAL and possibly a #2 or #3 seed come NCS, depending on how the season plays out. Or a date with DLS for a chance to try to unseat the champions. The loser will have a loss in league play, but shouldn’t fall much in the rankings as both are top 5 teams. May the beat team win.

  60. s1lverngreen Says:

Thanks Prep, always appreciate your insight…I have to agree with you regarding my Spartans, despite some of their wins, not quiet sure if this team is firing on all cylinders yet. The 4 years that I’ve been following them, I’ve never seen so many key injuries this early in the season. Best of luck this Friday!

  61. pirate football Says:

    @lancer lou
c’mon man yall aint been good since never, always a haal dormat u beat SL good for you but they not good right now b4 you played SL they only had 1 win, not to say my pirates cant turn it around and finish the season on a high, but really yall havent beat a team with a winning record, SL has 2 and all the other teams have 1 win stop pouting that everybody is being on ur helmet, beat team with an above .500 record. damn i got to agree with u mandown, wow a lancer blogger lets c what happens vs bod

  62. KillerD Says:

Earlier on this thread I picked SRV over Cal. San Ramon has played a tougher schedule and Kline is becoming the qb Cal Berkeley had hoped. A good passer able to move the chains and execute.

Cal High is a very good team but smaller than last season and not as imposing.

    SRV 32 vs. Cal 21

  63. Kriart Says:

MV almost killed Cal the current no.2 had it not been for a missed FG. And Pitt won a big 38-21 over MV. Can’t imagine how Freedom can swing away a win vs Pitt ussnless by a miracle. Sorry Freedom fans, Pitt will win an in-your-face victory tomorrow night. I think its going to be Pitt 38-14.
    I

  64. CSD Says:

    VC Fan-

    I don’t know about that… I have a feeling that it won’t be a blow out.

Will be watching the game tonight, can’t wait! :)

  65. Prep Fan Says:

Missed FG Kriart? He didn’t “miss” it. It is not like it was a 25 yarder. It was a desperation 55 yarder that was on target but far short. It was only made possible by a highly questionable 15 yard roughing penalty that no one saw on the squib kick after the winning drive. No one in the stadium expected the field goal would be good, but it would have been one heck of a kick and I would have had to tip my cap to the kid had he Jano’d it through the uprights.

  66. Outsider Says:

    #65
I was thinking the same thing.

  67. VC Fan Says:

I like the confidence… I will be there also

  68. the truth Says:

I’m really liking logans chances of going deep into the playoffs this year

  69. Prep Fan Says:

Logan has a great shot since they did not lose in their somewhat competitive preseason games and almost assuredly will finish the regular eason undefeated since they face no real competition in legue play. So they stand a pretty good chance of a #2 or #3 seed and would have home field advantage until the finals. Cal or SRV must still face each other as well as DLS, and Freedom plays 2 Pitt this week as well as a competitive BVAL schedule, so those other teams are all in peril of losses that may keep them behind JL. But come playoff time, they won’t be facing any MVAL teams and will have to win 3 games (or at least the 2nd & 3rd round games) against good teams to get to the finals. They might do so, but it is certainly no sure thing.

  70. David Says:

#63 “MV almost killed Cal the current no.2 had it not been for a missed FG.”

In what world is needing to make a 55 yard field goal “almost killing” your opponent? I guess what you’re saying is that Cal absolutely slaughtered MV since they didn’t need the 55 yard field goal to win.

  71. Lancer Lou Says:

    @ pirate footbal,

SL beat Berkeley 34-14 and lost to Bellarmine who lost in overtime to De la Salle by 1 point and the other loss was to an undefeated Logan team, So what the hell are you talking about? SL lost to 2 of the best teams in the bay area. You’re a little yellow bus rider for saying SL’s 1-2 record meant that they suck. Tennyson beat a good team. You can sht on it all you want, sounds like haterism. pirate football is the punk who gets his butt kicked in front of everyone and still talks sht.

  72. Kriart Says:

#70 MV was doing a good job holding off Cal and had a really good chance. Cal fans if you’re one of them shd be a sport and accept that. Cal this year is not the same or as strong as last years team. Expect Pitt to comeback and beat you at playoffs. First stop tomorrow night is Freedom.i

  73. Prep Fan Says:

Kriart, I am a Cal fan, but I didn’t say the game wasn’t close or that MV didn’t have a good chance to win. Heck they were ahead the whole game until the last 10 seconds. But you said MV lost due to missed FG and I was givng you the skinny on what happened. Cal actually did a good job shutting down the Mustang offense in the second half. Anytime you can go to Danville and beat Monte Vista it is a good win, whether by 1 point or 17. We’ll take it.

Pitt will have their hands full tomorrow night with Freedom, as will Cal with SRV. 4 really good teams that are in the top 7 in the East Bay facing off and only 2 will come out with wins, while the other 2 will have been beaten by another good team. Good luck to the Pirates. I was at the 2 close playoff games at Pitt when Cal and Pitt squared off in ’07 and ’08 and would enjoy another one, preferably at home this time around.

  74. 3x_All League HAAL Says:

Cmon fam! All the hostility.. Let’s go ahead and be happy for the Lancers and that community who are playing well NOW and have the record to prove it.. So let’s not bash em, let’s jus patiently wait to see if it continues.. Everybody still loves cinderella right?? Go Lancers?!?

  75. pirate football Says:

    lancer lou
look here tough guy, maybe u shouldve learned to read correct, i never said SL they suck, go reread it it says they are not good right now. yeah u would know i was on the yellow bus, u was next to me, u just snitched on urself by not being able to read lil buddy. read the post again smart guy, i stated facts tennyson aint beat a team with more than 2 wins and thats us, take yo win and b happy yall beat us cuz it aint happen since the early 90′s, whats wrong the truth must really hurt, win league and cant anybody say anything to tennyson. hell just beat a team with at least a .500 record. ur really a tough guy, name callin and trash talkin on the internet, hahahaha,

    go SL PIRATES

  76. BVAL Expert Says:

Kriat- its going to be alot closer game. I think freedom is more disciplined then Pitt. Freedom likes going on Two alot. Im predicting pitt will make alot of penalties, and commit personal fouls and it will get inside pitt’s head because they dont want to lose. Yea mayes has more interception but pitt mostly runs the ball. You cant compare the QBs with different philosophies. We will see what kind of pitt team will show up, the team that we saw last year against heritage in the NCS playoffs or the Pitt team that beat castlemont

  77. David Says:

    @ Kriart

I’m not a Cal fan, far from it, but to say MV “almost killed” Cal is absurd considering MV lost the game. Shouldn’t we set the bar, for “almost killing someone,” a bit higher than needing a last second field goal to win the game?

  78. Pride Baller Says:

VC Fan – good win last night but the Vikings had better tighten up before the 29th, especially with those turnovers. Salesian’s defense is a different animal compared to CSD. Your RB # 25 is excellent, looking forward to see him again.

BTW, the QB Lopez for CSD – what a nice pass he throws, even on the run. He did really well considering there was no run game at all for CSD.

  79. Pitt Grunt Says:

    @ BVAL Expert,

I was waiting for the “Pitt is undisciplined” comments. I rank that up with their “Pitt is loaded with talent” comments. Pitt is an aggressive, physical team. They are going to get a few roughing and late hit penalties. But those penalties will not “get in their head.” That type of play mirrors the personality of the D-Coordinator. The player responsible for those big hits is Mister Cotton. I have been asked by Silvergreen and other DLS supporters on his progress. I have downplayed his prgress…until now. Mister is monster on D. He is 6’2″ 225 and plays strong safety. He has knocked one player out of every game we have played with a bone crushing hit. The D Coordinator wants a physical defensive. He has one. Giving up a couple of late hits is the price you pay for an aggressive. Should be fun tonight.

  80. VC Fam Says:

Thanks Pride Baller. VC’s pass defense, and turnovers disappointed me last night, but they have a couple of weeks to improve before the Oct 29th match up against Salesian.

VC’s Run game and Run Defense is the heart of their team…

I agree that Lopez is a good passer..

  81. CSD Says:

    Well,
It wasn’t a 60-0 Shutout game. CSD had the lead in the 1st quarter and VCD was pretty easy to throw on.
I have to applaud CSD for dropping 42 pts on VC and kept on fighting even if CSD were not able to match up to VC’s size.

    Great job by both teams.

  82. VC Fam Says:

CSD fan let get it right a couple of fumbles by VC special teams and horrible officiating help CSD out… But after half way through the first QTR VC Ran for 35 straight points.. With the backup in CSD got closer.. But VC did put 71 points on your great Defense.. We will see you next season.. 71 point wow…

  83. BVAL Expert Says:

    Im looking forward to it

  84. hs school football Says:

@ Pitt grunt, this is no surprise to those that know mister . Mister was doing this since the age of 8 . Winning several turkey bowls at Deer Valley Youth Football.Dls wouldn’t turn him loose and that’s all that the D coord. Is doing nothing special mister has been coached that way since he was young . A killer !! So we will see him in action tonite and see the beast released.

  85. CSD Says:

    Wow,
Wonder if this is really a VC fan or an immature player.
U making excuses on special teams while we had some of our own special teams miscues as well.
I am not making excuses for csd’s run defense but there is a huge gap in terms of size between our teams. VC have a great run game and I am curious to see what Salesian will do to match up.
I would agree that the officating is not the best but don’t make it sound like it’s a one sided crew as there were several missed chop blocks and missed pushoff catch for TD at the end of 2nd quarter.
Regardless of your excuses, I think everyone saw that VC can be thrown on and things might have been different if there were less drops.
Humm…wonder how NCS seeding committee would feel about a division 5 team scoring 42 points at your home field?

Wish you best of luck for the season and good luck against Salesian.

  86. s1lverngreen Says:

    Pitt,
Cotton played the same way at Winton Dr….can’t say that I am surprised. I am surprised on how big you say he is…at DLS he was buck 85 on a good day! Good luck tonight…lots of hype surrounding your game tonight.

  87. DVCat Says:

Las Lomas v Miramonte should be no contest if Los Lomas lives up to the hype. Dougherty Valley led at half time in both the Campo game and Miramonte game. DV might have even won the Miramonte game if some key individuals didn’t go down with injuries.

In my opinion watching DV against each I feel Campo is a tougher more physical team than Miramonte. How will this translate in the game tonight vs Las Lomas?

  88. Pride Baller Says:

    #85 CSD

“VC has a great run game and I am curious to see what Salesian will do to match up.”

CSD, it’s really no secret how Salesian will match up to Valley’s run game. It goes like this:

6’3″ 280 lbs 6’6″ 300 lbs 6’8″ 320 lbs plus four very active and athletic LB’s plus a free safety who is an ace at attacking the run.

I saw your game, obviously CSD does not have the horses on D to handle a potent team such as VC but your offense is a blast.

  89. Pitt Grunt Says:

    @Silverngreen,

225 is a guess. He is a little thicker than Feau Vunipola who is 220. Against Foothill Mister knocked out that stud RB/LBer who is a junior and goes about 6’3 230. He popped a number against Castlemont, which caused them to quit playing. He made the hit against the MV player Ertz, which was a clean hit with the pads. #20 of Granite Bay was taken off a few times (but he kept coming back). I can somewhat understand why his “wrecklessness” might turn some off. But Hs School Football is right, he is a beast.

  90. BigJoe Says:

Homecoming tonite! De La vs. Amador Valley. Look out.

  91. YoMama Says:

While I’m walkin” the dog out at Winton tonight I’ll listen to the screams from the Amador bleachers.
Happy Haunting- er I mean hunting.

  92. Lancer Lou Says:

@ Pirate Football – I got nothing against you personally. I just didn’t like you tryin to hate on our win against SL by saying they are a losing team. Their record is below .500 but they lost to two of the best teams in the bay area. As for tomorrow I’m hoping my Lancers can pull the upset.

  93. Lancer Fan Says:

Lou, I don’t think it’s going to be an upset. The Lancers are legit. Keep The faith.

  94. th3ryza Says:

    #69-
That’s always been Logan’s weakness. playing in the mval, and facing a ‘weak’ preseason schedule. but usually whenever you get outside opponents, you always end up facing them for more than 1 year, as it becomes an agreement to usually playing each game to give homefield advantage one year, and away for the other. Heritage was more than good last year, so Logan didn’t know what to expect his year, but we did beat them. Foothill loss to pitt, and barely loss to Cal by 5 points. As for San Leandro, I’m sure they agreed to face us since Coach Zuber used to coach there. As for Arroyo, I do agree that they’re not a contending opponent for any D-1 team, but the connection was probably Zuber again from HAAL background.

My point here is, do you think there are any other HAAL/EBAL/BVAL team that would want to face Logan who has a ‘weak’ league? It actually puts Logan at an disadvantage since the team doesn’t gain too much experience as to what they would face in the playoffs.

  95. Kriart Says:

8 minutes left in 3qtr Pitt already scores 28 vs Freedom 7. Hmmmm Freemy forecast days ago was Pitt 38 Freedom 14. It looks really achievable. Look what a really good strength of sched can do to Pitt. Mr Cotton just ran more than 60 yds and stopped at 5 yds. Fullback Monfee just took it in for a td. Extra pt was good after being moved back 33 yds. Pitt now 35 falcons 7 with 6 mins left in 3qtr

  96. VC Fam Says:

Pride Baller, Good luck trying to stop VC’s Run game… VC’s Defense is 100% better than last years team, so we will be ready for that rushing attack that you have. So don’t thing you will score the same amount of points you did last year… Offensively VC’s running game is the same or even better than last year and they put up 42 points on you.. See you on Oct 29th…

  97. BVAL Expert Says:

    Freedom vs Pitt

Good game all around however, very disgusted how pitt acted (JV, VAR) on the field very unprofessional. Pre game varsity warm ups Pitt Would take up more then half of the field. Whoever is the corner back coach needs to have some respect for teams in the league. You cant do stuff like that. Not just freedom but all the other teams they go up against im sure they do that to antioch too. I seen Galli get mad at number 24 for walking towards freedoms warm up side taunting freedom. Also standing in the middle of the home teams field. Its so disgraceful to the program, no coaching discipline what so ever. Its sad because teams like that don’t deserve to win, and get away with that childish behavior, Deer Valley did the same thing last year. Pittsburg committed alot of personal fouls not giving a darn who came in their path and cheap shoting them. Freedom couldn’t take advantage of it which is something that you have to do is take advantage. I never knew mister cotton was that good of a player. Freedom deserved to lose they dropped alot of passes.

Pittsburg has the identity of playing “Ghetto Ball” try to get in your head to make you mess up.. using their mouths, unfortunately they got away with that tonight.

  98. BVAL Expert Says:

No hard feelings good luck to pitt for the rest of the season. Glad that game is out of the way

  99. pitt01 Says:

I luv how whenever pitt wins its cause they have ” ATHLETES” or “PLAYIN GHETTO BALL”..its a joke..galli doesnt get enough credit for what he does..as a head coach your job is to make student athletes..emphasis on student..galli has one of the best strengh coaches in muhammed..has a great staff that coach there butts off..gets kids to major d 1 schools..but whenever someone talks about pitt its all about where loaded with talent..no galli does a great job devloping kids and gettin major schools to come scoop them up..do fans from pitt do to much on post?? I beleive sometimes they do..but quit selling short what this program does..he takes on all challengers..check his yearly pre season schdule..football in the bay is to good all around to just play ghetto ball and consistantly win..so quit with those post..pitt kids have to play dicipline or they dont win consistantly like they do..aggressive and dicipline are to different things..playin argessive will get you some penaltys…doesnt mean your ghetto or not decipline..

  100. MVAL Stud Says:

I don’t get it, I really don’t. Newark destroyed Kennedy 56-9. Washington barely passed by Kennedy 14-12. And tonight, Newark lost to Washington 7-14.

  101. BVAL Expert Says:

Getting 5-7 personal foul penalties is not ghetto ball that i dont know what is. You can play agreessive and still dont get penalties.

  102. pitt01 Says:

If your such a bval expert then why cant any off these schools contend yearly for the title like pitt does..other then deer valley who has won league over these last ten years then lose when it mattered in the playoffs..no team is even on there level..u dont build a program by playin ghetto ball…since your such a expert go coach one of these other schools and beat us….until then its not ghetto ball its agressive hard football..when u win your doing something right..and by the way freedoms qb rb both of there good recievers # 4 and 5 are all from pitt..the way i see it freedom wouldnt be relavent without those guys..if there playin at pitt then its ghetto football but since there doing good at freedom its cause there decipline…come on

  103. BigJoe Says:

One of the worst offical games I ever saw. They took 3-4 touchdowns off the board from the Spartans. Some calls were for blocks in the back after the touchdowns were scored??? Head linesman making calls in the secondary and halfway on the other side of the field. DLS coaches kept their composure. So obvious that female fans even caught it. The zebras were terrible tonite.

  104. BVAL Expert Says:

” No team is on there level” We will see the deer valley game thats all i got to say about that, You lost to a team that only had thirty player.. Go figure. Yea those coaches put alot of time into players.. but players through that stuff down the drain when they want to play their own football. Pittsburg is not discipline and will never will be, until players start talking with their pads. It doesn’t matter what you do if you cant be discipline against de la salle then it doesnt matter its game over.

  105. pitt01 Says:

Like i said deer valley has won how many times the last ten years..and lost both times in the playoffs those years..when was the last time any school other then pitt was picked to win league..10years..u dont get like that playing ghetto ball..by the way bval expert what team are u a expert in…and as far as consistancy no team in the league is on there level period..name 1..deer valley plays more ghetto ball then pitt..have u seen there games..y u think pitt shuts that run stuff down..go be a expert somewhere else cause u obviously dont watch bval football

  106. pitt01 Says:

Add up all the playoff wins of bval teams the last 10 years..all those wins from all those schools combined i doubt they have more then pitt.. Enough said..and i dont have to be a proclaimed expert to figure that out

  107. Kriart Says:

Bval Expert, I have never heard of such unthinkable bigoted indi
vidual as you are and such a huge sourgraper as you are. You sh
d just accept defeat graciously and be a good sport. Freedom also had a lot of
fouls and was penalized a lot. In fact Freedom was more undisciplined.
By the my I have never been more accurate in my forecast fo r a ny game.
I predicted Pitt 38 and Freedom 14 and indeed the final
    score was 35 ~ 14 Pitt wins.

  108. Paydirt Says:

SRV won against CAL on Friday, 42-38. It was a well played game. SRV QB Kline is the most efficient player that I have seen this season. I would like to see the efficiency stats from the Bay Area News Group.

  109. Oh boy Says:

    @Pride Baller

I suggest that you stop responding to VC Fam regarding the upcoming Salesian-Valley Christian game. Let the web chatter die out and prove it on the field.

  110. Paydirt Says:

As follow-up, by my count, last night Kline had 6 TD passes, and 4 incompletions against the #2 team in the East Bay. CAL is still top 3, but Kline is a surgeon. What say ye Bay Area News Group?

  111. s1lverngreen Says:

    Paydirt,
Where you at the Srv/cal game? Did Cal blitz or pressure Kline last night? Sounds like he was lights out…

  112. Pitt Grunt Says:

    @ BVAL Expert,

I hope you wake up tomorrow and regret the “ghetto Ball” comment. I have replied many times with you to get the feeling that you seem like a pretty good guy. I do want to respond to some of your points made earlier. First, I think it would be helpful to know a little about me so you can understand my perspective. I am Pitt Grunt because I live in Pittsburg (moved here in 2005 with wife who is a Pitt girl to help deal with some aging parents) and a previous job I had for 20 plus years. I have zero coaching experience but I have lead young men in the field of battle. I understand leadership. I am a white guy from Virginia (VMI Grad and proud southern boy), so I guess I do not fit your demographic of Pittsburg. I am guessing that what was said and done by the DB coaching was his effort to light a fire under his players, a group that has not played very well this year. Going into this game, the match ups did not look good for him. What ever he did, worked because his players (the DBs) were awesome. Completely shut down Freedom’s highly rated passing game. If he was one of my young officers, I would promote him. He was given a task, and he accomplished it. Pitt has a history of pulling stunts to motivate there own players (i.e. last year against DV and wearing black on the road against Heritage).

The band issue can be dealt with, Freedom administrator to Pitt administrator. The Pittsburg marching band is a professional organization that has performed all over the country.

Regarding the game, I think I have been fairly accurate characterizing Pitt this year. Physical team that will get flagged for late hits. Its a coaching philosophy. In high school football, you will win consistently by being a physical team that can run the ball. Finesse teams come and go. Freedom had their share but its part of the game. I saw a Freedom coach yell at one of their players because of a late hit a Pitt player. I would have taken the opposite tack. It was one of the few good hits against Pitt.

Game was over by the 3rd quarter. Pitt was running the ball when Freedom had 9 guys in the box. I really think you need to question the Freedom coaching staff for scheduling a cup cake non-conference schedule. It served no point and did not prepare Freedom in any way. Poor coaching.

Also, Freedom’s Pittsburg players were talking as much as the Pitt kids.

Good luck to Freedom this year.

  113. MiraFaithful Says:

Obviously I’m biased, but BIG win for Miramonte tonight. Should quiet those critics calling them soft. Not all, but many. ABSOLUTELY HUGE GAME coming up next – Campo baby! Crosstown rivals + best records in DFAL = BACKYARD BRAWL X INSANITY! Get there early, get your popcorn ready, settle in, and prepare yourself for a show… oh yea, and BEAT CAMPO!

  114. pirate football Says:

wow what a friday nite of high school football, some great game lots went the way i thought they would, pitt beat freedom, didnt think it would b that bad, mira beat LL, and srv beat cal high wow and those are the 3 qb’s i think are really good. antioch lost an ot shoot out with heritage, looks like some really good games, this is really a good season.

    bval expert
u sound like u need some cheese for the whine, i told u weeks ago that pitt would win this game, i didnt think they would just physically dominate freedom like that, it was like pitt was ike and freedom was tina, pitt was the niners and freedom was tampa bay, pitt was lapd and freedom was rodney king. dont get me wrong freedom has some talent but pitt was just so super physical they almost exclusively run in between the tackles vs an 8 man front, just had no respect for they def. thought freedom shouldve tried to get the ball to the daniels kid ive been saying for a long while he is the real deal, he had a great 90 yard kick off return. not sure what u crying bout pitt smashed ur falcons, take ur butt kicking and move on to next week, dang kats on here cant take a win and others cant take a loss, ps bval expert next season might b freedoms they have lots of young guys

    pitt01
hey man dont trip with these guys people can say what they will since the 90′s not many teams can say they have consistantly been decent to good and put many players in college, coach pardi did it back then and now gali and staff are still doing a good job, pitt never has a cupcake schedule.

    kriart
ur comment 107 was so damn funny im still laughin, seen some good 1′s on here but thats up there.

    lancer lou
take ur win vs my pirates and be happy we still are not playing where we need to b, b happy yall won aint happen in at least 15 years, its not my fault yall beat teams with losing records yeah we lost to some good teams but its not like they was so close we got smacked good 40+ in 2 games not playing good, but they go turn it around. hope we can get that sprinter back.

bval expert dont think you go get off easy u know u get a C’MON MAN

  115. pirate football Says:

kline threw for 5 td’s and ran for 1 good qb

  116. pirate football Says:

i have been wondering y people really doubted miramonte they did lose much from last years team, i heard that game wasnt as close as the score another blogger text me a score of 26-7 during the 3rd.

pittgrunt what did i miss with all the pregame stuff what did the band do, it really sounds like freedom guy or bval expert feel they got punked b4 the game,

  117. ManDown Says:

MiraFaithful, Good win for you guys last night! Congratulations!

  118. DFAL Guy Says:

Too bad Las Lomas didn’t have their starting QB play last night; he was hurt in live drills during the week. Bad coaching move by Longero and it cost him the game. Too bad as it would have been great to see these two teams play at full strength.

Now we’ll see how good Campolindo is against a very good Miramonte team. The Campo offense seems to be really clicking now and should be a very entertaining game.

  119. BVAL Expert Says:

I dont regret any comments they are pretty accurate, thats how they always been. I call it how i see those things. I support teams in the BVAL to even things out on the bloggs. People love pittsburg because they been here alot longer then these new schools, and yes they did get punked before the games. I saw what i saw and it was disgraceful. I see what kind of talk that goes on the social networking sites and i know what players talk alot of mess to each other. It was just an embarrassing lose getting embarrassed by the opposing team during the pre- game

Pitt 01- Ive probably seen alot more football games then you probably have. All I watch is different levels of football, Friday saturday and sunday.

“I question the Freedom coaching staff for scheduling a cup cake non-conference schedule. It served no point and did not prepare Freedom in any way. Poor coaching.”

Im not going to even respond to that statement full of ignorance because if you did your research they played one of the top teams in the San-Quanin section teams also if you read Hartiwig could not schedule division one non conference teams because teams used the “Dates” excuse, whether it was true or not we dont know, or maybe teams where chicken to play Freedom. This is why i come on here to defend statements like that.

There different ways to light a fire underneath your team and getting into your opponents head it not one of them

  120. FNL680 Says:

The SRV D1-bound QB needed the “game of his life” or Cal wins the shootout last night. He had an A game for sure, and it was supported by a balanced attack. Cal’s QB and offense went toe to toe with SRV until the last 3:00. Having Cal duplicate last weeks (78 yds in final 1:00) MV heroics was stymied by a strong SRV rush. Farley had three TD throws to that point, to Kline’s four. That’s pretty good for a kid whose primary college sport will be baseball. Washington had an 88 yd TD burst called back on a hold. He is first team all-purpose. Big answer for SRV was a 6 (+ a 2 to tie it 21 all) on a 2:00 drive to close the first half. In the second half, essentially whomever had a critical defensive stop wins. SRV had their only two of the game in the second half, including an own endzone punt that gave SRV the ball on the Cal 25, the other on Cal’s final drive. SRV sandwiched scores on both. Check it out on Comcast 104 tonight/Sun… Dibs and Arbet got to call a very good high school game.

  121. pitt01 Says:

@ bval expert ~ i dont care if u have something to say about pitt..your intitled to your opinion..but year after year i come on these sites and read post like yours talkin bout how pitt plays ghetto ball and are undicipline..as some one close to the program u dont know what your talkin about..u dont build a program or dominate a league by playin ghetto..u cant do it..and i like how u havent tried to argue any point ive made..cause u cant..freedoms best players r from pitt..pitt has more playoff wins then the whole bval combined over the last 10 years..dont use the whole well there new schools..cause every school has been around for at least 10 years exept heritage..when u say my team plays ghetto football i will take offense everytime..cause more then likely your a fan of the team we just beat..keep ur comments bout your team…even if there full of pittsburg guys

  123. KillerD Says:

Prep props to Pitt, Miramonte, SRV and Heritage.

Those were big wins, Pitt seems to be maturing at the right time after a dominant win vs. a well coached and athletic Freedom team.

Kline is the best qb in the bay area, period. Good pickup for Cal Bears, he is better than Zack Maynard night now, and Kline will unseat Maynard in 2012 as a true Freshman. Even though Kline is limited athletically, he fits Tedford’s system much better and is more poised.

Moreau is not as good as hoped but their win against Kennendy Richmond will help them, especially if JFK beats St. Mary’s today.

I am troubled by the EBAL, it is very down this year except for DLS and SRV overall. And even SRV gives us tons of yards each week.

What is the latest verdict on Berkeley, easily the most schizhoid team in the east bay

  124. Pitt Grunt Says:

    @Pirate Football,

I didn’t see it directly but many in the stands were pointing towards the Freedom sidelines during pregame warmups that involved players on both sides and the Pitt DB coach. I am guessing a lot of tacking. I bet Galli will deal with this issue internally. Regarding the band, about 25 members of the band marched on the track with the cheerleaders to the visiting stands. I think Freedom was doing a “Senior Night” and Freedom wanted the band to stop playing. Still does not justify the bigoted comment made by BVAL Expert about Pittsburg. Two weeks ago, while the Pitt Band was doing their pre-game show, Granite Bay was running plays through them, knocking down a number of band members and cheerleaders. A couple were furt. Not a person of color on that team. But no one at Pitt was whining about how undisciplined they were, or calling them a bunch of redneck peckerwoods (the term ghetto doesn’t seem to fit).

Some people are just sore losers and they live their lives blaming others for their failures, never realizing that the cause of their failures is the person that stares at them in mirror.

You may recall after the Berkeley game, every Pitt fan on the boards was posting congratulations for their win. No whining, no complaining, no racist or bigoted comments were made. I have been in this area for about 6 years and I beginning to learn that Pitt fans have class, and those further east do not.

  125. BVAL Expert Says:

Oh please pit grunt no ones perfect. Im sure pitt has complainers too. A couple of years ago I seen pitt players talking a whole bunch of mess on the forums how they took pride in what Ladocuer said to them “See you in the playoffs” when this was said at the scrimmage, do these pitt players names sound familiar?…Adias Lane, Hector Orrozco all these players did was talked mess all season. That is not class. One thing the pitt staff/ marching band doesn’t understand is RESPECT. Respect when your coming into another teams stadium. How would like it if someone came into your stadium and started playing their instruments during your homecoming/ or senior night. What part of disrespectful dont you understand. Teams bands have no such thing a pre game performance/ only on certain occasions like homecoming. However, Pitt does their on the field performance every home game. LIKE REALLY?! ok ok we know your a superior band no need to express that even more, Football field was designed for football players not marching bands. I seriously dont see all these others teams bands perform in the pre game..Bands make their entrance and automatically sit down. They dont walk on to the field every home game.

  126. pitt01 Says:

No 1 wanted to play freedom..freedom beat a top team in the sj. Section..dude u are delusional..like i said if ur such a expert help hartwig come up with a better plan on beating us..since all we do is play ghetto ball..bval expert..ya right

  127. pirate football Says:

C’MON MAN are u kidding me, you whinning about the band, about ur players gettin punked b4 the game, sounds like ur saying that freedom is mentally soft. u dont let anybody do that on ur home field. u come out and just beat the crap out of them, not cry like lil babies. they didnt do that to b high lol y is that i think cuz they have respect for them, i think they didnt respect freedom at all, i mean they ran the ball down they throats and didnt care bout how many guys was in the box, the band had nothing to do with that. i have seen many diff tactics pregame BUT when teams are strong and physical they take it to teams,

eat the cake anna may [ike turner vioce]

  128. hsfootball Says:

coulda shoulda woulda. it’s league time. pre-season records are out the window. great games around the bval this week. 2 unbeaten bval teams lost. move on, on to the next game. anything can happen in league play. these kids know each other from youth and there are a lot of pride and egos on the field, therefore the team plays harder. we don’t need all the negativity in this forum.

pirate football – you’re right the band had nothing to do with pitt winning the game.

freedom lost and that’s it. pitt was ready and wanted it more. stop complaining and having excuses. pitt was the better team that night. concentrate on antioch, but don’t sleep on them. i’d hate to see what excuse it will be if freedom loses to the panthers.

  129. hsfootball Says:

if antioch brings their band, freedom’s in trouble…

  130. BVAL Expert Says:

Pirate Football- I wasnt the one that brought up the pitt band.. Pitt grunt was complaining about the pitt band being interpreted. You should probably pay attention about whose say what. When your to busy trying to gang up on someone on here. I dont care!!! what part of respect don’t you get, Freedom didn’t do anything to pitt

Pitt01- just stop your not making any sense. Ive never seen you around in the preseason on the blogs, how come all the sudden you want to hop on here? come back when you get your facts straight. Better yet come back when your done doing your research Franklin was one of the best teams in sj section.

    Alot of misconceptions

  131. YoMama Says:

Pitt knows it’s place. there’s no trash when playin’ De La. There’s no band disrespect either.
Last time trash talkin’ occured at De La it ended up 65-00 back in 2003.
If Freedom wants to shut up Pitt then throw some points up. Also excessive trash and bad hits are getting flagged more in high school football than ever before. It’s the refs jobs to keep things under control. It’s also the coaches job not to coach or tolerate that type of behavior.

  132. FB Guru Says:

Great DIv III / DFAL matchup this week between Campo and Miramonte, currently rank 3 & 4 by calpreps. Jets BSAL schedule is killing them, last week they dropped two places because of Sweat. This morning they drop another place (6th) because they beat their third consecutive DIv IV team, SPSV. Next up is the worst team in DIv III, Albany. Probably will drop to 7 or 8 with a blowout victory. But, being a league champion will help in getting a couple of home games. Early DIv III seating prediction:

    1. CN
    2. MC
    3. Mira
    4. BOD
    5. Campo

  133. pitt01 Says:

Franklin is the 3rd best team in there league..since wen does that make them a power..because i havent been on the blogs i dont know what im talkin about..you are a joke..how about u check your facts..and by the way u still havent answered me..who has more playoff wins..the whole bval or pitt the last ten years…so quit digging yourself deeper in a hole cause your that guy that doesnt have his facts straight..i have the same rights to jump on these blogs as you…and when u say we only play ghetto ball then ima respond..its guys like u who think they know what there talkin about and have no clue that makes pitt fans jump on these things and put u in your place..and thats under pitt in the standings…

  134. FNL680 Says:

@123 Whoa nelly. Maynard will be Cal’s starter next year, and if Cal doesn’t get a bowl, the job will be open with Hinder and Boehm getting 2 and 3 reps. All are better than Kline, right now. Mannion, Nottingham and Southwick finished with at least 300 y/g and. Kline was at 250 before last night’s game and although 337 is impressive, it was against a young and yet defined defense. That does not anoint you a PAC-12 starter IMO. Game against Mitty is more telling- 224, 1 TD, 2 int. He will redshirt, then get his chance later. Not dissing, just knowing the PAC-12 speed and size is COMPLETELY different than defense last night, poise or not. Now if he goes for 400 and 5 TDs in two weeks vs dLS with a W, maybe…big maybe.

  135. YoMama Says:

Kline will be a marked man in 2 weeks. Matt Leinhart, Dixon, Wright, Mannion, Nottingham and similars have all found that out.

  136. kriart Says:

Someone good naturedly wished Freedom to better luck next year as they have young guys coming up. I just hope so because Pitt’s young guys the JV also beat them up 42-7. Pitt’s JV have been making big wins since preseason even beating Granite Bay 35-6 (not sure). Potentially, Pitt’s varsity next year can be even stronger. That’s just it; the Pitt program is really getting more and more solid, and that’s a key ingredient in having good football teams. Last night, Freedom showed the young tots in their youth league; that’s the way to go. Too bad my Football playing son was invited to play Pitt varsity football when he was already a Senior. He was a rookie in his Varsity year. But he was 5’9″ 280-290 lbs and was guick on his feet–I guess he was an exception. Had he started in youth league–we could have been seeing him in NFL now.

  137. KillerD Says:

Tedford at Cal apparently is not high on his qb depth chart and that is why Maynard is the guy now.

Don’t compare Kline’s numbers vs. Mitty and DLS. Give Kline equal line play and skill, then insert him.

I am not a Kline big fan, all along I have said he is a smaller version of Kevin Reilly. However, he is more nimble now than last year and I like his release better than Reilly.

Tedford will not be able to AFFORD to groom Kline.

Kline will be #2 at Cal going into the season next year at Cal, maybe the starter if Maynard continues to bomb now

  138. S1lverngreen Says:

At this pace, Tedford may not make it until next year. I agree with 680, very unlikely Kline is the 1 guy at Cal next year. I think he could well be a starter a sophmore at Cal. DLS will be a good test for Kline.

  142. PERKIN Says:

  143. No Huddle Says:

Maynard only forces it to his brother or cousin. He has a wide open Michael Calvin and consistently overlooks him. Watch how Michael always does the dirty work..and gets no love. The Guy is 6’4″ and ripped. what a waste by Tedford. Has anyone noticed how Tedford is quick to get in any players face accept for his biased quarterback and his fam? Tedford is a sorry excuse for a head coach..and has been for a long time.

  144. Lancer Fan Says:

We took a beating today. Bishop O’Dowd showed they had a
better football team today. But better men, not a chance.
Hardy Nickerson is a disgrace to Bishop O’Dowd and the University of California. The lessons that those young men are learning are deplorable.

  145. pirate football Says:

  146. hoops Says:

If you are really the AD at Tennyson it would be wise to choose your words a little better and not be so unprofessional.

  147. BOD Alum Says:

Good win for the Dragons. But I agree that Nickerson was doing some unethical things at the end of the game.Throwing a lot of deep passes with a big lead and calling time outs to try to get another score late in the game. I thought the time out Nickerson called with a few seconds left to kick a field goal was going to start a riot! Some of them Tennyson Fans looked like they are on probation. HAHA! It looks like back-to-back league titles for BOD. No HAAL teams left to challenge us now that SL’s program has dropped off the map.

  148. Scl alum Says:

I’m wondering if the bloggers from Eureka are still around. I haven’t ‘seen’ guys like Loggerfaithful, etc. in here awhile… Did they beat McKinleyville tonight?

  149. MiraMan Says:

First a shout-out to DFAL Guy,

Regarding the Mira/LL game, are you really suggesting that Jackson Miller would have had a better game than Wood???? Totals: 353 yards, 17-28 (61%), 3 TDs, no picks. My question is this: Has Jackson Miller ever had a game that good?? Answer: I doubt it! If Miller had been in the game, Miramonte would have won by 20 because I doubt he has the right type of game to come back the way Wood was able to. LL has a really strong junior QB in this kid Wood, but Miller would not have been able to change the outcome.

The Campo game will be epic! I like the way Miramonte matches up, but Campo has been playing on all cylinders. I have a funny feeling Campo will lay an egg and Miramonte will win it easier than people expect. I think Miramonte and Campo are dead even in ability, I just think Campo will come down to earth.

    Miramonte 35 – Campo 21.

  150. Teehee Says:

Word is O’ Dowd was up 42-19 late in the 4th and threw the ball on 3 straight downs before missing a FG lol.

  151. HS football fan Says:

    MiraMan,
Really? Miramonte put 9 guys in the box leaving the passing game wide open. Adam Woods did a great job but, LL played their worse game of the year lots of mistakes on the offensive line and without Miller they were not in sync. To many LL penalties and I was not impressed with Miramonte. I couple of plays blown by the LL defensive backs and Mira ends up with the win. Good Luck against Campo,my perdiction is that Campo wins 42-27.

  152. NOT THE ONE Says:

Heck if i was the ad at tennyson I would be upset too…they started some poop they could’nt get out of and took a beat’in for it. Maybe he should talk to his coaching staff about being a disgrace because there play was deplorable.

  153. NOT THE ONE Says:

Yeah O’dowd was throwing the the ball until the clock ran out.I think they are trying to make a statement.

  154. S1lverngreen Says:

    Lancer,
Pretty harsh words shared regarding a high school kid on a public forum. If in fact you are the AD, there are better and more effective ways to share your displeasure. League office, admin at ODow, etc. Not impressed with you calling out a kid on a blog, very poor judgement on your part IMO.

  155. pirate football Says:

  156. C/O98 Says:

Lancer fan is refering to the dad not the son I was at the game today and the finish showed terrible sportsmanship and was just low class. Up 42-19 with 17 sec to go you put your starting offense in and try to take shots down field to score also with .6 to go attempt a long FG. As a player in the haal I’ve been on the reciving end of a blowout and I’ve never seen anyone try something like that. And as a parent I’m disappointed I make every attempt to teach my kids to not only lose with dignity but also to win with class. And what of his team you risk the Health of your starting QB droping back to pass in what amounts to garbage time trying to run up the score instead of just taking a knee and avoiding posable injury to players from both teams . I don’t know coach Nickerson but after seeing that display at the end of the game I don’t care to.

  157. S1lverngreen Says:

    Pirate,
You are correct. Apologies to Lancer. I do stand by comment though, that being someone who represents a school they should use the right channels to address their grievances. Just my $.02…

  158. BOD Follower Says:

Hardy Nickerson IS an asset to the Bishop O’Dowd football program, and an asset to the University of California at Berkeley. He has brought back a winning attitude to a program that had not won a championship in a number of years. With respect to Coach P, who was a winner and very successful during his era.

But the words of “Lancer Fan” regarding the character of Coach Nickerson are cruel and unfounded, which leads me to believe you are a poor sport. It would be nice if this board could be used for positive and constructive sports related comments.

Although Tennyson did not win, their team did not give up. And that should be focused on (Lancer Fan) instead of defaming someone’s character.

  159. scoop Says:

  160. BOD Alum Says:

And Please don’t forfeit this game. We know you got enough players this time & we know your district has enough money to bus you up here. Welcome home Coach P.

  163. Teehee Says:

lol if the above is true.. lets tack on 9 personal fouls I am reading on the news site and running up the score.. Nickerson may be an asset to BOD but given what I am gathering about this game, he is a cancer to high school football.

  164. MiraMan Says:

I heard on another blog that BOD had 9 personal fouls. I’m guessing that’s the source of the negative Hardy Nickerson comment from “Lancer Fan”. I agree there are probably better forums to address his concerns, but hey, Lancer Fan’s comments are not the worst thing I’ve heard on this blog.

  166. DFAL Guy Says:

Mira Man, you are rightfully proud of your Matadors. However, if you were at the game, Las Lomas lost the game in the first 3 quarters when Wood, playing for the first time, was getting his trial by fire and making the typical mistakes you see from a first time QB. Las Lomas had the ball 9 times in the first 3 quarters and only scored the one touchdown; the Miraronte defense did a great job on limiting the Knights offense. Don’t you think having Miller would have produced a different result in those first 3 quarters?

Wood sure had a great 4th Quarter and nearly pulled it out, though. What I thought was a strength of Las Lomas, the defense, turned out not to be. Anderson & the Miramonte offense were able to move the ball through the air, and then the coup de grace, Anderson galloped 80 yards for a 4th quarter TD that was just enough to outlast a fast charging Las Lomas team.

Get your tickets early for the Campolindo – Miramonte game, should be a good one. Campo should be able to score against Miramonte. What will decide the game is whether the Campo defense can slow down Anderson’s arm & legs enough to secure the win. Prediction: Campo wins a thriller 28-27.

tell that to the odowd backups and their parents. never lighten always tighten up seems more like your parents pay the same tuition and you pay the same physical price as the rest of the kids on the team but even though were up big your just not good enough to be on the field.

  169. MiraMan Says:

Nickerson was a great football player and he may be able to coach-up kids well, but in terms of teaching charactar, I’m afraid he’s falling way short. A coach needs to be an educator and leader of youn men first and foremost. Teaching kids to be bullies is a load of BS. From now on, I’ll just refer to him as “Nickerson” because he’s lost the right to be called “Coach Nickerson”.

  170. EastBay Ray Says:

I would like to respond to the Tennyson AD, Mr. Lenahan (if that is really who it is) regarding the Tennyson vs. Bishop O’Dowd game, which I attended.

The background, as far as I know, (and not to excuse, but to explain) is that there was a lot of internet chatter about what a beatdown the Lancers were going to put on the BOD team in the week prior to the game. Then Tennyson came out before the coin toss jumping around and screaming at the O’Dowd players, who had gathered at the center of the field, as is their tradition. There was the typical idiotic chest thumping by BOTH teams, but the officials then assessed the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on BOD, due to the fact that they continued shouting after the officials told them to knock it off. The officials then warned both sides that they would be watching carefully for any shenanigans during the game. This manifested itself in the 9 penalties cited in the paper. Inexcusable by O’dowd, but included in those penalties was a backflip in the end zone, a double (30 yard penalty) for a player who got a penalty for pulling a guy off the pile, and then got another for asking the official what he did. So the officials kept their promise to call it tightly.

Odowd DID throw the ball when they got it late, which was clearly Nickerson’s statement about his unhappiness with Coach Smith’s game film antics. Not cool, but understandable in that context. Jimmy was at the game, so all this can be verified by him.

During the game, I witnessed multiple Tennyson and O’dowd players helping one another up, for which I am proud of both teams.

Now to the football: I was impressed with Tennyson’s scheme and intensity – this is a remarkably improved team – which is a credit to Coach Smith. This is my first look at them in person, and it is easy to see how they got to be 5-0. Wide receiver #3 Paxton, and running back #6 Martin look to be D1 talents.

O’Dowd was as advertised, as well. The defense was stellar, led by #10 Nickerson, and #87 Daniels. The offense was more balanced than when I last saw them, led by QB #12 Miroglio, a talent. It will be interesting to see where they get seeded in the D3 playoffs, as I suspect they might surprise somebody.

  171. Scl alum Says:

Well, my wish came true, KillerD..my ‘Hounds survived a Sonoma scare Friday night, to set up the potential SCL game of the year next Friday night at Rec Park against Windsor. some of those kid r just happy 2 have a uniform

  173. The Truth Says:

What game film antics? The truth is Smith gave Nickerson a quality copy of the Tennyson vs. Mt.Diablo game and was supposed to give Nickerson the copy of their Tennyson-San Leandro game the next day in exchange for copies of O’Dowd’s games against Castro Valley & Arroyo. The videos Smith received were unviewable, shot with a zoomed out, sabotaged recording so that the numbers weren’t visible. Smith asked Nickerson for some viewable copies saying he knew that they used more than 1 camera to record their games. Nickerson said those were for his school’s purposes & the wide angle is the one they trade with their opponents. Smith said the copies were not vieawable and he needed a viewable copy. That’s where this story gets funny. Smith had to get viewable copies from other teams in the league who shot the game. So after that he refused to give Nickerson another game on that monday.

Before the game, Nickerson refused to shake Smith’s hands and said “it’s all good” & walked away from him & then told Smith that Tennyson couldn’t use the men’s bathroom at the school. LMAO!!! That will show him, Bathroom sanctions.

3 minutes before the start of the game Bishop O’Dowd’s team is standing at midfield on both sides of the 50 waiting for Tennyson to come out and Tennyson came down to the field and both sides started jumping up and down and posturing, only thing is O’Dowd was out in the middle of the field and moving toward the Tennyson sideline & doin it. They shold have been on their sideline with under 3 minutes before the start of the game. That’s why the flags were thrown at them.

How does somebody justify 9 Personal fouls? They were hitting late on most of those & what kind of excuse is “just asking the official what he did” and “pulling a guy off the pile”. There was some cheap shots going on out there.

As for the game, the atmosphere was intense, too bad Tennyson made some mistakes early, If not for those early mistakes I think this would have been a closer game. O’Dowd won the game decisively, but Nickerson’s late game antics of throwing bombs on Tennyson and calling timeout with 1 second left so that he could kick a 40 yard FG were a clear insight to his character & what he’s all about. O’Dowd is winning but I’m sure the confessional will be packed full of Dragon football players on Sundays. Nickerson is a terrible role model for kids. That was made clear as day at the end of the game. I’m pretty sure Tony Dungy didn’t teach him that.

  174. Jimmy Durkin Says:

Yes, I was at the Tennyson-O’Dowd game so I can verify some of the stuff from the game. As East Bay Ray said, O’Dowd was throwing all the way to the end of the game with their first string and called a time out in the final seconds to try to add some points. As for all the other stuff, I heard from both sides that film was unwatchable. O’Dowd claims Tennyson’s film was unwatchable. Tennyson claims O’Dowd’s film was unwatchable. So we basically have a he said, she said thing. Who do you believe? I don’t know. Both teams made the same claim, but it seemed like O’Dowd was the one who reacted to it on the field with the nine personal fouls.

I will contradict East Bay Ray’s version of the pregame action. Tennyson ran to its sideline like it should be allowed to do, while O’Dowd (who waited at midfield for at least 2-3 minutes for Tennyson to take the field) closed in. Both sides were hooting and hollering, but it was O’Dowd who had no business being near Tennyson’s sideline. That’s why O’Dowd was rightfully flagged.

There’s a lot of other stuff that I’m frankly not going to get into right now. I’ll say this, there are a lot of people that walked away from that game with a bad taste in their mouth and my cell phone has rung a couple times today to discuss what went on.

  175. HAAL Fan Says:

I never remember these kinds of things happening when COACH Perenon was there. Hmm … Seems like winning at all costs, even if the price you pay is your integrity, is what rings true from the top of the hill now-a-days.

  176. Oh boy Says:

Wow. I live down the street from O’ Dowd and was going to see the rejuvenated Tennyson team but I had to work on Saturday. Sounds like I missed some high level ridiculousness.

I’ve never met Nickerson but his actions were classless. You don’t kick field goals to embarrass your opponent in high school ball. He should grow up and act like an adult.

  177. scoop Says:

No one likes O dowd, After they kicked out Coach P, YEah he yelled but he thought you discipline and he has a couple on Nsc 2a championships in his resume, Man Highly dislike both Nickersons for that.

  178. Backing the Truth Says:

@ Jimmy, Hardy Nickerson is a Liar. Tennyson has a professional video company record their games. Ask Hardy Nickerson to show the video. It will show that he is a liar. He lied to his players, BOD staff, & to you Jimmy. It was a 2 for 2 scout video swap. Nickerson gave Smith 2 videos on Sunday that when Smith looked at the videos when he got home & he found that they were put on the widest zoom & he said he couldn’t see any numbers. Smith gave Nickerson one video on Sunday and was supposed to give him another video on Monday but when Smith told Nickerson about the “unviewable” videos that Nickerson had given him and then asked for viewable copies, Nickerson refused and stated that that’s what they always give the other teams and no one has complained. Smith then told Nickerson from looking at his videos on youtube that he noticed they had 2 other angles that were not like the one on the video Nickerson gave him. Nickerson said he wouldn’t give any other videos up because the other view angles were for their own purposes. After Nickerson said he wouldn’t give Smith another viewable video, Smith decided not to give Nickerson another video on that monday. That’s where Nickerson got mad and started all of this lying & spinning of the truth. Once Smith realized that he got unviewable copies from Nickerson he called some sources in the league & went out got their videos of the 2 BOD games. Smith made cut ups of the game and put it on youtube for his team to view.

Tennyson’s videos are of good quality. Their videos are posted all over the internet & Smith exchanges with everyone. Speak to any of the HAAL coaches and see what they say on the matter. Hardy Nickerson should resign for his dishonorable ways. Misleading his kids into believing they got duped on a scout video, when it was really him that gave a unviewable video to Smith. Then lying to the newspaper, school staff & more importantly his players. Show the “unviewable” video, Hardy. You ARE a disgrace to the game of football and an embarassment to Bishop O’Dowd and any fans you had locally. Show the Mt. Diablo video that Smith gave you or did you lose it?

  179. C/O98 Says:

Oh just realized coach P returns next week and it’s BOD homecoming hmmm another move I’ll consider to be in bad taste. Might have to drag myself out there to see if karma can kick BOD in the nuts.

  180. Hoodboy Says:

Yea that was terrible act of class by odowd. The thing is I know odowd got good kids there at that school. The JV game was a good game and both teams played hard and showed class during and after the game. But nickerson has his kids doing all these cheap shots and having all these personal fouls because of game film??. So your gonna have your starting QB out there throwing bombs and putting his health at risk cuz of game film??. That’s terrible. What if the QB took a bad shot and got seriously hurt? I know I would be pissed if my kid got hurt throwing bombs with 20 secs left and your up by 20. There’s no reason for that. Karma comes back tho. #20 shouldn’t of been playing and he played the whole game so most likely it’s gonna be a forfiet if Tennyson does some investigating and make a few calls.

  181. HAAL c/o2000 Says:

I hope Tennyson does push the issue for the use of the inelligble kid. But I think the league/ncs should suspend Nickerson for knowing the rules and not caring about them by using the kid. Maybe some kind of discipline needs to be instilled in the head coach. Maybe he just doesnt care about the long term because as he might bolt as soon as JR graduates. Just sayn Maybe

  182. KillerD Says:

*I was not at the Odowd vs. Tennyson game so I am only reacting from reading these posts and talking to a few coaches I have known for quite some time that have heard what happened

    The Evidence:

Exhibit A. Video exchange errors like the ones described are INEXCUSABLE in this era. If either coach had “unwatchable DVD copies” then BOTH coaches would have known that prior to their film exchange. So, since BOTH coaches have said the same thing about the DVD trade then BOTH coaches are GUILTY

Exhibit B. Coach Nickerson allowing his team to align across midfield “waiting” for Tennyson to come out for the game and then letting the Odowd entire team “close in” on Tennyson, and allowing posturing and smack talking like that to ensue. Totally funny, ridiculous, classless, a joke, immature and repugnant. Nickerson is GUILTY of completely idiotic move

Exhibit C. Odowd is SUPPOSED to win the game, they were EXPECTED to win and they should beat Tennyson 99 times out of 100. They have every advantage over Tennyson. So, all of the personal fouls on Odowd and some on Tennyson means BOTH coaches GUILTY with a bent towards Odowd though

Exhibit D. With the game clearly over Odowd is THROWING Bombs and chucking the football in the air? It is hard to imagine that being true but EVERY account says it IS true. Then Odowd calling a TIMEOUT with 1 second left to attempt a FG. For a moment, compare Nickerson’s actions vs. esteemed DLS coach Lad. Try to Imagine for one moment that LAD was pulling some crap like that, you cant.

Nickerson is totally GUILTY of Idiocy again, backed up by repugnant classlessness and grossness, and TAKING OUT his own Anger on the OTHER Team’s kids!!!

    VERDICT:

    Nickerson is GUILTY as charged

I gave Nickerson props last season after his team had a nice run, but I will never again have respect for this man and it’s a shame that some Odowd players and parents have to deal with his boorish antics and terrible attitude. He will be gone after this year or next to watch his son at Cal

  183. Former dragon Says:

    Hardy Fan

Will you still be a fan when he leaves the program after his son graduates? He has not played anyone special no offense to the lancers. I will be at the game friday on coach perenons side. I do not respect nickerson and haven’t worn my black and gold colors. Well be wearing blue and yellow.

  184. CHALKTALK Says:

Let’s see u want me to knock someones head off but do it with class u want me to commit violent act for 4 quarter but b classy about
MAYBE THE KIDS SHOULD SAY GOD BLESS U AFTER THEY BREAK A RIB CAGE help every player up after they hit them shake hands after every play
ASK THE KIDS WHAT THEY THINK OF THE COACH
    THEIR COACH NOT URS

  185. Football Dad Says:

I have to weigh in on this Tennyson-O’Dowd issue. I, too, was at the game. Full disclosure: my son played for Hardy Nickerson last year (graduated). So I saw every game last year. This is the second BOD game I saw this year. First, I think Ray’s and Jimmy’s accounts above are pretty accurate from what I saw from the stands (although the tradition of huddling on the “O” at the middle of the field before the game is an O’Dowd tradition -not “waiting for the other team”, done before every game I have seen, with no problems). Yes, clearly Nickerson was trying to send a message by throwing until the end. He must have been very, very upset to do this, because it is not consistent with ANY O’Dowd game I have seen. Just the week before, he was running out the clock and taking a knee against Arroyo. Also, I just did not see the “cheap shots” that are mentioned above. I saw a lot of penalties, but they seemed to be of the pushing or yapping after a tackle variety. But don’t take my word for it – the game was filmed in its entirety by Cal Hi Sports Bay Area. I encourage those of you who haven’t seen the game to watch it there and judge for yourselves. Also not mentioned above is the fact that Bishop O’Dowd lined up to shake hands after the game, and Tennyson refused to shake hands. Disappointing on a number of levels, but please get the facts straight.

  187. EBfootball Says:

The bad thing about using Cal Preps rankings is that they take scores into major consideration but the NCS seeding committee doesn’t. If that were the case you’d see some major blow outs.

  188. FB Guru Says:

Don’t kid yourself, the NCS seeding committe is well aware of scores and it is required input in the application, not just W’s & L’s.

  189. HS Football Fan Says:

For anybody who cares enough about the O’Dowd/Tennyson game can buy the game DVD from Cal Hi Sports.

  190. EBfootball Says:

I’m just saying the committee doesn’t put major consideration on scores. A major part of Cal Preps algorithm for a rating is the score separation compared to their predicted scores.

  191. PERKIN Says:

NCS & CIF are not suppose to take any scores into account & don’t. Win by 1 or win by 50 is the same too them. Now do they see the scores they obviously do but it is not SUPPOSE to factor into any of their rankings or decisions.

  192. norcalfball Says:

that is not true they do take SOME consideration of scores into account. How can you not? Beating a team by 1 and 50 is two different things. Now beating a team by 20 or 50 isn’t going to be weighted at all. Which is they way i think it should be to not promote running up the score. But if you were comparing two teams who didn’t play one another and they have one common opponent and one beat them by 1 and the other by 50. Which one would you choose?

But i agree Calpreps is not perfect. But they are usually fairly reasonable in their ratings. But what better place to go to find scores of all teams. Have to go to them or maxpreps.

  193. PERKIN Says:

They’re not suppose to its not part of their criteria. It came up last year during the State Bowl games when that Centenial team wanted an OPen Game bid. Their coach said they did everything scheduling & scores wise to make it Open Game(essentially running the score up as much as they could each game) but the announcers said it doesn’t factor into the criteria. CIF & NCS have the same Bi-Laws. As the board ranks teams they’re not suppose to make scores a factor or discuss them when they choose one team over the other. WHat they do now who knows? Nobodies in those meetings & there’s no reporters in the meetings.

As it was brang up earlier its a sportsman ship deal & shouldn’t be a factor in High school Football. Or things would get really ugly.

  194. EastBay Ray Says:

The reason the NCS is not supposed to take score differential into account is to discourage teams from running up the score. They DO take strength of schedule into account. I think the CalPreps ranking has Encinal too low – the four teams above them probably couldn’t have given Serra the game Encinal did.

  198. bayareaboy2 Says:

I am just as confident that Miramonte will fall vs Encinal.Your QB will NOT GET AWAY from the Jet “D” when it comes to the run plus Miramonte does not defend very well.
Time will tell as your problems start this week.

  199. EBFBFAN Says:

    @Football Dad:
I, too, have a son who played at BOD. Thankfully, he played for the previous coaching staff. Both my son and I are high embarrassed at the behaviors and demeanor being put forth by this current era of BOD football. Here are my comments:

Since when did the “tradition” of waiting on the “O” at the 50 yard line for the opponent come to happen? Oh, probably since the arrival of Nickerson. Same time that taunting, disrespectful behavior, posturing and blatant unsportsmanlike actions came into the program. What was wrong with the “old” tradition of having BOD do pregame warmups at the scoreboard end of the field, away from the opponent? How about allowing the visiting team to take the field first, let them get to their sideline and THEN have the BOD team take the field AFTER the visitors are already on their sideline with their coaches? (Never a problem with pregame taunting under the previous coaches).

I cannot recall an O’Dowd team being penalized 9 times for personal fouls under the previous coaching staff. What I saw on Sat vs Tennyson was, in my opinion, the result of what is being cultivated in the current program by the current coaches. As a previous blogger stated, the BOD program under Coach Perenon won and, won big, without committing personal fouls, taunting, poor sportsmanship and unethical behavior from the head coach to purposely run up the score (with starters playing the entire game in a 42-19 score).

BTW, who was the woman dressed in black BOD gear with a camera standing in the BOD team box on their sideline? And why was she embroiled in a shouting match with Tennyson fans who were siting in the stands? Is she a BOD employee? A team mom? Or Nickerson’s agent? What is going on up there?

lastly, please tell me that I am not hearing of a desire on the part of BOD to embarrass and humiliate Mt Eden and former BOD coach next Friday night. For what?
If there is talk to embarrass Mt Eden and Coach P it surely would be consistent with the current demeanor being presented by BOD. Maybe it’s time for the folks running BOD and the diocese to take control of a ship that has lost its way under the leadership of “Dr” Phelps. More than a few are hoping for a return of the priests and the timely exit of both Nickerson and Phelps.

  200. lonewolf Says:

BOD …sounds like they need to clean-up shop. Phelps needs to step up and clean it up real soon before reputation of BOD takes a total tank.

  201. BigJoe Says:

O’Dowd needs to clean it up- however they have had some taunting in the past also- they taunted us in route to a 50-00 ass-whipping back in 1971. Perenon’s famous stomp on the playbook after the game against a Shag coached St. Mary’s mteam in the ’80′s cause Shag stole the blackbook? Nevertheless, if actions as described in recent posts are attributed to BO, they need to fix it now. Nickerson being an ex Cal Bear and pro player should have a lot better control than that.
Is Dr. Phelps the same guy who was accused of child molestation and coached basketball in grammar and high school, both at St. Joe’s and O’Dowd?

  202. YoMama Says:

Miramonte would get slaughtered against Serra, and if EncinaL PLAYED THEM AGAIN THIS YEAR, THEM TOO.

  203. PERKIN Says:

YoMama we all no you’re a ST. Pats fan & every year Encinal Kicks their butt you get real salty on them. I would love to see another Encinal vs Serra game. Turnovers were 5-1 with a gimme QB/C fumble for a TD.

  205. lonewolf Says:

    @ BigJoe
No not the same. Steve Phelps came from SI, but is the brother of Coach Mike Phelps of whom you are thinking of Just to be fair the incident was back in 1967-68 and was a questionable situation. Nothing ever occurred during his Teaching or Coaching career. Unfortunately a good educator & respected coach’s career was sadly damaged.

  206. EBFBFAN Says:

    @CHALKTALK
Get a clue, dude. Different worlds are Mt Eden and BOD. Mt Eden might be struggling record-wide, but the overall improvement in their program is worth noting.

In addition, CHALKTAALK, you do not see Mt Eden compiling multiple personal foul penalties and being pointed out as a taunting, classless organization. Coach P and Coach Thompson eliminated that element from Mt Eden. They actually are stressing the importance of good, clean football and respect of an opponent. But, I guess people such as CHALKTALK place a greater value in a catholic school winning in the manner that BOD is NOW
than respect for opponents, clean play, lack of taunting, on and on. Go to BOD’s web site. What they put out as core values for the school cannot be found anywhere near the current football program or its boorish head coach. CHALKTALK may be laughing his ass off, but I would bet that the people running BOD are feeling some heat about now. And they should.

  207. Lancer Lou Says:

I wanted to go down there and kick Nickerson in his jaw after the game. But that wouldn’t have been good for my son to see daddy go bad.

  208. pirate football Says:

    @ all the hardy supports
i wasnt at the game but have some insight his 1st summer at bod at cal camp b high and bod got n2 a lil brawl, b high and coaches took all the blame, well this past summer bod got n2 another fight with homestead of cupertino, now that school has been at cal camp for at least 7-8 years running and never had anproblems same coaching staff for a long time good guys, now thats 2 years n a row, and a college coach that was working the camp expressed to him that he was the common denominator and gave that coach the shaq look like he really just dont see the problem, he thinks its ok. now i really dont like to talk negative bout coaches but when these incidents keep happening and with diff teams facts are fact, coaches need to set an example not b the example, we need to b leaders of these young men

IM SURE NICKERSON DOES NOT NEED U 2 JUSTIFY HIS WORTH

  210. Lancer Lou Says:

@ Chalk Talk, Nickerson could piss in your face and you would say it taste like lemonade. Because he played in the NFL means you excuse his behavior? His antics are damaging to O’Dowd’s image.

Any high school coach who preaches & demonstrates poor sportsmanship among young people goes against every principle in the book & should be fired. Especially at a catholic school that prides itself on morality.

Calling a timeout & kicking a FG in a 42-19 game with 1 second proves what? That this is how we do it in the NFL? That I can beat on my chest a little more because we beat them by 3 more points?

Despite the personal fouls, unsportsmanlike conduct, rude behavior by the BOD Trash talkin team mom,& running up the score. I liked that my Lancers did not quit (& the food at the snack bar).

  211. BBFAN2 Says:

it’s crazy how some people on here complained that the bod kids were “soft” rich kids, now they are hooligans? I don’t condone certain antics, but it’s football people. I don’t know the circumstances surrounding some of the accusations, but it’s not pop warner. I saw scores from other games this past week that could have been considered running up the score. According to Lancer Lou, the Tennyson kids didn’t quit and I bet this will make them even more hungry for wins.

Some people just don’t get it. -_-

  215. C/O98 Says:

I for one don’t have an issue with running up the score on the condistion that a team has substituted in there backups. Those guys work hard all week and your team would not be who or what it is with out the help and hard work of every player on the roster. If I’m getting beat and the backups come in and run the offense set to the simmaler gameplan as the starters so be it. They need to get there work into if I can’t stop the backup well then I need to get my guys to work harder. But at the same time in a 3-4 score diference I’ll sub backups in as the losing team. Also any news on that # 20 kid I’ve read he was ineligable. What a way to potentially lose a league title.

  216. OK Says:

I was at this game as a Tennyson fan and I gotta say how embarrasing it was to hear our own parents yelling “break their legs” and calling out certain #’s from the kids from the opposing team saying “I got ur # and I’ll see U after the game”. I mean come on we got beat. Look at the score it wasn’t even a close game an we’re complaining about the refs? Funny how eveyone blames the refs when they’re losing. Get over it and move on. Nickerson definetly should’ve done thing differently but the game in itself was a blow out from the beginning!

  217. HAAL c/o2000 Says:

    Lancer Lou:

good call on CHALKTALK about the lemonade.

    #211/#213

i was at the SL/ME 45-8 and the ARROYO/HWD 30-3 games. even though those games were not as close as the BOD/THIGH they were back up heavy units in the 2nd half by both winning teams. the scores were unfortunate for the losing kids but at least there was sportsmanship.

    #216

no one is saying that the refs decided the outcome or arguing that BOD was the better team. but a lot of people are pointing out how adults influence young/soon to be adults. seems the only thing different about those fans who had horrible comments and coach nickerson is while their at home/he is on the sideline teaching 40-50 kids how not to be adults.

  218. HAAL c/o2000 Says:

does anybody on here know when they are going to start showing the stats for league leaders?

  219. EBFBFAN Says:

    @ Chime In

I do not think that there is an issue with one team beating another by a lop sided score. That does happen in all spots in all leagues and sections and at all levels of competitive athletics.

From what I am reading, hearing and from what I saw Sat afternoon at BOD, the issue is not score differential. The issue is ethics, sportsmanship, intent and control. The questions that the BOD administration and Nickerson
must respond to fall under the umbrella of “educational
athletics – the mantra of the NCS and CIF. What was the purpose or intent, for example, of calling a time out with under 1 second remaining to attempt a FG in a game whose score was 42-19? Why was BOD throwing the football on their last possession with the STARTERS IN THE GAME when the score was 42-19? 9 Personal foul penalties?? A near brawl right before kick off? And that is just from the game vs Tennyson! We are now reading of film exchange issues between adults manifesting itself on the outcome of a game between teenagers! I happen to believe the Tennyson version of the film drama. Terry Smith is a credible coach. We are now reading about BOD’s behavior at Cal camps over the past two summers. There has been “talk” since last year about the “unethical” behavior of the BOD coaching staff and the administration. The principal doing push ups at Tennyson last year as BOD rang up the score is another cited sample of the boorish attitude that has permeated a once proud and respected catholic high school. What is the message that is being taught at today’s version of Bishop O’Dowd HS?

More to the point: Who is in control of Bishop O’Dowd HS? What is the intent of this school with regard to its athletic endeavors, at least on the football field?
Victory with honor? No way. Class? Dignity? Not a chance.

Bottom line for this blogger: I have personally observed this high school melt into an institution that is all about fundraising, money grabs, superficial image and corporate operation at the expense of real education, loyalty and truly high levels of expectations. While the era of BOD’s leadership under “Dr” Phelps is certainly tainted (at the very least), the more pressing concern is the image and substance of the football program under a coach who is running totally out of control and in a direction that is polar opposite of the core values that the school claims to be about. Someone, somewhere on the BOD campus, needs to remind Nickerson that this is not the NFL and other ethics and moralities govern HIGH SCHOOL football. They need to do it as they assist him in cleaning out his office and showing him the exit out the gate. Then, begin evaluating the effectiveness of “Dr” Phelps and the rest of an underserving, clueless administration.

While some folks (such as CHALKTALK) find the current actions of Nickerson, Phelps and the “team mom” acceptable, far more DO NOT. The Nickerson apologists can spin the truth only so far before the truth gets to the surface. Like it or not, Nickerson was the wrong hire. He is just as he is appearing. But who is allowing this charade to continue (“Dr” Phelps)? They may continue to win games, but the ship is taking on water. Brinback the priests!!! The Phelps/Nickerson experiment has failed.

I can longer support the school that educated my kids and provide for my son to have THE BEST EXPERIENCE of a lifetime playing football (under the previous coaching staff). Count me as another Dragon fan turning in the Black and Gold.

were the Tennyson parents and staff worried about the other kids and teams when they ran up the score to over 50+ points on their first two opponents.. were they worried about the lesson it teaches then STOP CRYING and take your loss.. BOD is a solid team

  222. BBFAN2 Says:

I am just going to say this, some people seem like they are sitting around with their fingers crossed waiting for any mishap to happen so they can rag on BOD or Dr. Phelps. You are entitled to your opinions, but my child has had a great, rewarding highschool experience. It hasn’t been all peaches and cream, but as a direct result of the environment he’s been in, I have no doubt he will turn out to be a great young man and citizen one day. I could go on and on, but the blogs always seem to turn away from what they were intended for, sports. Again, my child, our experience. Get over it.

  223. just saying Says:

@Lancer Lou …. are you OK with the way you guys ran up the score on the first two teams… were you so proud of your coaches for giving all your second string a chance to play big minutes or were you happy your studs were getting big stats…..

im not going to lie this is an intresting subject to talk about

  225. EBFBFAN Says:

    @ Just Saying

Hopefully you are not confusing a lop sided score put up by teams who liberally substitute in those games, run plays that are intended to provide playing time for subs and back ups and play out the game in a “sportsman like” manner.

Do not even begin to equate what BOD did on Sat vs Tennyson as “victory with honor”. Calling a time out with seconds left to attempt a FG to add points after having starters on the field FOR THE ENTIRE GAME is just what it is: WRONG. No defense for Nickerson, Phelps, and BOD.

And, I am a parent of two alums.

My children, my perspectives, the current state of O’Dowd. Fix it.

  226. EBFBFAN Says:

    @ BBFAN2

If BOD or Dr Phelps had better vision and control of their institution (and FB coach) there would be no mishaps, as you label the most recent series of events.
And no one would be ready to rag on BOD or Dr Phelps.

I am pleased that your child has had a great experience at BOD. My two did, also. Yes, regardless of how the current administration (including Dr Phelps) constantly attempts to be revisionist historians about how much better BOD is today, my kids attended O’Dowd prior to this current group assumed control of BOD. They, too, got a great education, became great adults and have strong feelings about their time at BOD. But my kids and myself see a decidedly different BOD today. Read my previous blog about how I see today’s BOD.

You state “my child … our experience … get over it”.

I state “my children … our experiences … our perspectives … Bishop O’Dowd: FIX IT!

I told yaw that he was fake and full of himself and he did not belong in the same league as Carter or Beam! Yes Mack won 4 games but they didn’t beat anybody relevant because they played a real soft schedule and as far as Hardy Nickerson and BOD Dragons stop trying to act tough & hard because there are no thugs at BOD so don’t mistake playing hard and being physical for teaching your kids and coaches to act like thugs off the Block. I know you want to be different and feel special and argue on the side of the few here, but if you coached a team and were up by that many points and had kids on your team who had worked for you all off season in the hopes of seeing the field … Would you let them sit and watch while you “sent a message”? The kids on both sides of the ball lost that game, regardless of what the scoreboard said.

  246. Russ Says:

I think some of you need to have your kids play golf or join chess and debate teams. Football is a violent game and sometimes statements need to be made to your players and your opponents. This BS that its ok to run up scores with back ups and not starters is hilarious. Its obvious most of you never stepped foot on a competitive venue. Maybe the coach was making a statement to other coach for pre-game events or maybe he wanted to give his kids last min drive experience to see if they could score which could become valuable late in season or playoffs. Bottom line is quit crying and splitting peas and move on.

  247. SPORTSCOACH Says:

First off, Dr.Phelps is not the football coach nor was he on the field so he in now way should be questioned in any of this.

Unless you are or were closely connected to the inside story, then all that has been written is STRICTLY opinion and not factual. Yes there was an issue with film, however the previous 5 BOD opponnents did not have issue with film quality, why was it such an issue for Tennyson? Tennyson also published BOD film on YouTube, something you just dont do unless its your film, not an exchanged film. That, and Coach Smith still hurting from 62-0 whooping in 2010 where BOD previous principal was doing push ups on sidelines has fuelled this whole fire.

Questioning Coach Nickerson as a man of integrity is unfair based on this one game. If you are around him and see what he is teaching these boys, you will find it goes further than football. He is tough but fair. You dont spend 16 years in NFL and not have a high level of toughness and character and integrity, especially given some of the coache he played for. He does talk about respect, earning it and having it. Tennyson disrepected BOD.

The “O” incident before the game did get out of control by accident but was NOT ignited by coach Nickerson. It actually stemmed from previous opponent Arroyo running on the field through the “O” with their team flag. BOD vowed that would not happen again.

If you question Nickerson character for one game then it should change based on ONLY beating Coach P’s Mt Eden 56-0. Clearly subbing for the 2nd half that game could have been 84-0, if not worse.

  248. EBFBFAN Says:

    @ SPORTSCOACH

Yes, you are correct. Dr Phelps is not the football coach. But you are also wrong. Dr Phelps WAS on the sideline walking in and out of the team box during the entire game (just as he does at all games he attends, including the game last night vs Mt Eden). You are also wrong in that, as the president of BOD, he needs to be accountable and answer to questions and concerns multiple observers have had regarding the behavior and ethics of the BOD FB program under Hardy Nickerson. The facts are what they stand to be. The incidents (not just the taunting or the unsportsmanlike play and the attempt at running up the score at the end of the game vs Tennyson) stand and need to be addressed. BTW, the previous coach was tough but fair.

One can, it seems, spend 16 years in the NFL and still lack character, integrity and credibility. My bet is that Tony Dungy would bristle at the manner in which Nickerson is “leading” the BOD program. One can also spend 16 years in the NFL and have no knowledge or skill in the area of educating and coaching teenagers, especially kids not with the same last name of the head coach. Since when did BOD resort to the need to taunt and cheap shot to be successful?

I am around BOD. I am aware of players quitting the team in the past couple of weeks. I know that many parents of players are not content with how this team is being coached and their dissatisfaction has nothing to do with winning. Their concerns are rooted in the messages that are being taught, as values, to these teenagers. Nickerson must learn that these are teenagers and that this is not the NFL. I was on both teams sidelines last night, and in previous games this year and last year. The lack of respect shown by the BOD players to their opponents is embarrassing to me as a parent of BOD alums. Foul language is commonplace. And the staff, including Nickerson, are rude and disrespectful to game officials. I have heard more than a few referees have to warn Nickerson, his staff and the BOD athletic director about their poor behavior. And how do you explain the incidents at the Cal football camps over the last two summers? And how did Tennyson, of all schools, disrespect BOD and become BOD’s #1 “enemy”? The film stuff is certainly interesting and questionable. Why not ask the other HAAL coaches about BOD film quality.

With regard to the last night’s game vs Mt Eden, the score was 42-0 at half time. SPORTSCOACH, you say that Nickerson clearly subbed in the 2nd half. When in the second half? Miroglio and the starters were on the field for the 3rd quarter. #2 was getting carries late in the 3rd quarter behind the starting offensive line. BOD’s last score came on a TD PASS by the backup QB #5.
If Nickerson was clearly committed to being ethical he would have #5 throwing and getting his work in late in the 1st half or in the 3rd quarter, not with 6 minutes left in a game with a running clock.

I talked with Coach P briefly after the game last night. He is well aware of where he is at, where the Mt Eden program is and the stakes going into the game vs BOD. He was disappointed that the Mt Eden kids did not make a better showing against his former school with a big crowd on hand. He knew that BOD was going to have to be off their game and that his MT Eden team would have to be play hard for 48 minutes just to compete. Yet, he expected the Mt Eden kids to play at a higher level. He really loves his kids at Mt Eden and knows that they will grow from these tough lessons. He always preaches that the kids need to learn about overcoming obstacles and challenging adversity – as football and life long lessons. The Mt Eden community is so fortunate to have him there.

Hardy Nickerson should talk with Coach P and really learn a thing or two about coaching HIGH SCHOOL football. Yes, the BOD team played well. But there is more to high school athletics than outcomes of contests. I wonder how the administration and staff at BOD feels about this very hot topic.

  249. Teehee Says:

    “Tennyson disrepected BOD. ”

Sounded more like him and Smith were the ones acting like idiots over something trivial. So Nickerson took it out on the Tennyson players? Ya ok, a man of integrity.. You’re really going to try and defend this guy after all this?

  250. SPORTSCOACH Says:

Dr. Phelps is at most games but I am almost positive he was out of town for Tennyson game. And yes I agree he is responsible as school President for the actions of those who represent the school. So his work came in on Monday AFTER Tennyson as I am sure he was not invovled in the game plan the week prior. If this happened every week then you could question Dr. Phelps. But you dont know what happened from an administrative point after Tennyson game.

Obviously you are NOT a coach. You ask any coach with an overwhelming halftime lead and all of them would like to have starters come out for a series in second half. #2 had 7 carries total for the game. The starters need work too, even if it is against inferior competition. #5 threw his first passes of the season and TD catch was 2nd reception of that kids season. 1st was a few plays earlier.

Coach P was a great coach and did wonderful things for/at BOD. But he left under circumstances that dont fully support being “about the kids”. I hope he can turn Mt Eden around.

Also the issue with #20 being suspended was a league issue. Paperwork was not filed in time so he ended up having to sit out the Mt Eden game. No foul on BOD and Tennyson will not get a forfeit.

  251. keepitreal Says:

You can’t hold Dr. Phelps or Coach Nickerson responsible for playing the schedule. Realignment is needed. I believe some of these problems will be corrected next year? The bottom line is B.O.D. is probably the best team in their league and Tennyson & Mt.Eden just can’t compete with them this year. I think I counted 20 kids in uniform last night for Mt.Eden. Anyone who knows football knew they were going to be in for a long night against B.O.D. These are not scrimmages, and there is no 5th quarter. We’ve all looked down the bench and found no answers at one time or another. It sucks, but until realignment and the mercy rule are implemented some teams are going to have some bad nights just because.
