DVC hosts Citrus in battle of state powers

The Diablo Valley College men’s basketball team (11-1), ranked No. 3 in the state, will host top-ranked Citrus-Glendora (12-0) at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Hill. The Vikings moved up to No. 3 after winning the West Valley Tournament title, as DVC’s Raphael Carter was named tournament MVP and guard Brian Goins made the all-tourney team. Goins leads the Vikings averaging 17.8 points a game. Brandon Parga (25.9 ppg) and James Walker (25.4 ppg) pace Citrus.

East Bay Girls Soccer rankings and notes

It was hard to find a weakness on the San Ramon Valley High girls soccer team at the 36-school Tri-Valley Classic in Danville this week.
The Wolves, No. 6 in the ESPN FAB 50 Girls Soccer rankings, took the Invitational Division title with a 3-0 win over Logan on Tuesday at Mustang Soccer Complex.

Adidas Holiday Classic lineup

Miramonte is helping put on a two-day girls basketball event at Saint Mary’s College with quite a few intriguing match ups. The 12 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday games caught my eye in particular. Should be a good couple days of basketball at McKeon Pavilion. Here’s the full schedule:
