I’ve been asked a few times for some information about the Holiday Classic All Star football game, which pits East Bay stars against Sacramento area stars. I just spoke with organizer Matt Williams and confirmed the game is Friday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. at Monte Vista High. It’s been the goal to have the game played in the East Bay to give the area a chance to show it can support the game and make it worthwhile to rotate the game between Sacramento and the East Bay. So take this as an opportunity to pack the stands and make sure that the game returns to the area. I should have full rosters coming later, but I’ve received a few names. The East Bay quarterbacks will be Cal’s Kevin Farley and McClymonds’ Eddie Heard. Running backs will be Berkeley’s Rudolpho James, Livermore’s Damariay Drew and Deer Valley’s Matt Smith. The team will be coached by Monte Vista’s Craig Bergman and his staff, along with Foothill’s Matt Sweeney and former San Ramon Valley coach and current Cal athletic director Dave Kravitz. When I have the full rosters, I’ll get them posted.
