Balboa put a human chain around the school in the ’80′s. They used to beat up SI in track in the ’70′s and beat BHS in the early ’70′s with a super big track team.
They got their work outs chasing the muni’s in the city and jumping on the back of the bus bumpers to cut workouts when coaches weren’t around. Heard their coach White was a drill sargent and the white boy ran 9.5 in college back in his day.

Congratulations to all the football players that signed athletic scholarships this past week. There were some surprises but it was great to hear and see kids enjoying this fun time. Bay Area football teams always seem to have a great deal of players signing away to colleges every year. Thats something to be proud of as a coach, fan, or parents because at the end of the day thats what we want our kids to do.

Kennedy receiver Walker might have picked UCLA cause of track also. The Bruins let their football players run track, the Bears don’t. Walker vs. Barton in the state finals high hurdles in June, can’t wait.

Thats good for Mr. Mackey. I just hope him being back on the King campus doesnt influence more Mt.Eden/Tennyson kids to go to Kennedy.
