The Ohlone College men’s and women’s basketball teams will be hosting a special event in addition to playing an important doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.  The Renegades, on their “Coaches vs. Cancer” fundraiser day, have elected to “adopt” the Inciong family, and in particular their daughter Zoe, a sophomore at Logan High and a member of the Colts’ basketball and water polo teams.  Zoe suffers from a rare form of cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma.

The Renegades hope to pack the gymnasium for the games – Ohlone men vs. Las Positas at 1 p.m., and the Ohlone women vs. Mission at 3 p.m. The proceeds will go towards the fund established by her parents in Zoe’s name to help defray medical expenses.

Saturday’s doubleheader will close the regular season in lieu of the NorCal playoffs that begin on Feb. 24. Ohlone’s men’s squad is ranked 14th in the state, and Las Positas men’s team is ranked 20th. The Ohlone women are ranked eighth in the state.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults (12 and over) and $5 for kids (under 12 and students (high school or college). Those with season passes will be encouraged to make a donation at the door. The college hopes that you will spread the word about the fundraiser through school groups, social networks, youth sports teams, etc.
