Boys Volleyball: MVAL, Rankings, Standings

Is there a more improved boys volleyball league than the Mission Valley Athletic League? I think not.

This league is probably second only to the East Bay Athletic League as far as East Bay League’s are concerned, and should be well represented in the North Coast Section playoffs with Mission San Jose, Logan and American looking like solid bets for Division I, Kennedy looking like one of the very top seeds in Division II, and Moreau Catholic being a dangerous team in Division III.
In speaking to people around the league, coaching is playing a big part in the growing success. Many of the schools have the same head coaches, or have coaches involved with the program that have been doing so for many years.
Kennedy is a team that returned almost every player from last year, American is a team that put together a solid season last year and had great success at the JV level, while Mission San Jose continues to play at a high level every year.
The wild card is Logan, who has shown they can play with anyone, but has been susceptible now and then. With the ability to pass the ball, they have the ability to turn it on at any point.
With the playoffs about a month away, look for the top five teams in the MVAL to continue to push for solid playoff positioning, and in the process playing some very competitive matches down the 880 corridor.

Rankings

No change in the top seven, with No.’s 8, 9 and 10 all moving up a spot with Logan dropping after a couple of losses.
Speaking of that, we welcome American to the top 15. The Eagles have had some up and down results, but a win over Logan is a big one and deserving of a spot in the rankings.
