Boys Volleyball: League Races, Rankings, Standings

League play is about to pick up. How are the races going and who is the favorite?

ACCAL
After a three-game win over Berkeley, Alameda has passed every test it has had in the first half of league play and looks like the clear-cut favorite at this point.
Berkeley has a chance to get them in the second matchup, and De Anza is in the thick of things, but needs Alameda to slip.

BCL-East
This looks like it will be a race between Valley Christian and College Prep. VC appeared to have finally taken over as the league favorite, but College Prep swept them in three, and still is the big dog.

BSAL
St. Patrick-St. Vincent is so far ahead of everyone else in this league and the real battle for the Bruins is in tournament play and NCS playoffs.

BVAL
Deer Valley doesn’t appear to have a serious competitor at this point, beating Heritage in three, and Heritage is easily the second best team in this league right now.

DFAL
Campolindo appears to be running away with this league, and has it on lockdown.

DVAL
Finally, a league with a race going on. It seemed like Northgate was going to be down this year, but they are still contenders for the league title, taking College Park to a fifth game on the road last month. The two will play on Thursday, and the league will be determined then.

EBAL
De La Salle hasn’t been seriously challenged yet, but the teams in this league are talented and can hang with almost anyone. Cal is the team that should not be taken lightly, and could push the Spartans next time they face off.

MVAL
In a league that is incredibly balanced, Mission San Jose seems to be an easy favorite at this point, rising to every challenge so far and winning easily. The real parity is with Logan, Kennedy and American who are beating up on each other. All should be in the NCS playoffs, and are battling for that second spot in the league, and perhaps a chance to take down MSJ.
