Carondelet senior Hannah Huffman and Bishop O’Dowd junior K.C. Waters were both honored as top players in their respective divisions by Cal-High Sports today.
Huffman, who will play at Notre Dame next year, was named the state’s Division II player of the year. The four-year starter averaged 18.7 points and seven rebounds this year for the Cougars playing a variety of positions. In her career, she helped Carondelet accumulate four league championships and three North Coast Section titles. They reached the NorCal finals three times and the state title game twice.
Waters was named California’s Division III player of the year after leading Bishop O’Dowd to its first ever state championship. The 6-1 forward, who was also honored by Cal-Hi Sports as its Freshman of the Year two seasons ago, averaged 14 points and 12 points this year. She’s the No. 34 ranked prospect in the class of 2013 and has numerous Division I college offers to choose from. Waters named the East Bay Player of the Year.
