NO I am not Campo’s fan. Just want to state the facts and you are right, MSJ did win Campo at Drake’s tournament 2-1. If this was a regular 3 out of 5, I would put my money on Campo and same for St Pats. However, watching MSJ,I think they are great at the begining of a match but get deflatted as games go on. They used alot of their enegery at the begining and tired themself out torward the end. Foothill tournament is the perfect example. This is my last comment on this topic, Move on to NCS. Too bad I will be out of town the next two weeks and can’t watch some of the NCS matches. Sorry but D3 will be borring cause St Pats will take it all. D1 will not be interesting to watch until the final. D2 is much more fun to watch after tonight matches. have fun and good luck to all.

TrueDat, you’re a Campo fan, yes? It’s a great team and a great program. MSJ and Campo have always enjoyed their matches. While you noted Campo’s 3-1 win over MSJ, you omitted to mention Campo’s 2-0 (not 2-1) loss to MSJ 4 days later. But all that’s water under the bridge now. Let’s just enjoy the last two weeks of the season!

Berkeley got smacked, but the first game they started what looked like a couple freshman. It certainly couldn’t have been their regular starting lineup, and their play got better in game 2 which looked like a more standard group.

How can you say that MSJ coukd beat Campo easily when Campo beat MSJ in 4 during the preseason. Also this is a suggestion to all coaches out there. If you want to play in the post season and knowing your team is below average. You need to schedule with teams that are below .500 or knowing you will win.

I still don’t think AV should be #7 ahead of Cal. They finished tied in EBAL play and Cal beat them both times in 3, which should be a major consideration. And although Cal lost twice last week, the loss to #1 DLS on Thursday night was a battle royale in all 3 sets and as close as any local team played DLS all year at 25-21, 25-23 & 26-24. If anything, that loss should have elevated them in the polls. The MV loss was a bad one, but the Mustang squad was motivated and Cal played their worst match of the year, mainly due to the spirited MV play. I agree MV deserved to be in the NCS field, but they knew what record they needed in order to qualify and just did not play well enough at the beginning of the year.

Berkeley was clearly in waaay over their heads tonight, and I have to believe Livermore would have beat them in 3. 25-2 in game 1 tells it all. If Cal hadn’t served one into the net and hit the net another time it could have easily been 25-0.

Doug, Campo & Acalanes can’t meet in the finals as they are on the same side of the D2 bracket at #2 & #3.

I agree – the first 7 teams are correct, but Campo should be brought down a few notches to 6 or 7th. I’ve seen all the teams play and still believe SRV, MSJ, and DV would easily defeat Campo, but I guess we’ll never know. I hope the div 2 finals is Campo vs. Acalanes – I think that will be a good match. In regards to Campo/MV, I was trying to highlight that the #15 team defeated the #2 team in what may be the biggest upset of the year – and thus questioned the #2 team’s ranking. I don’t think it was a fluke – MV also beat Cal at the end of the year, and as Matt says, deserved to be in NCS. And Foothill deserved a spot in the end – they beat MV, got a game off of College Park and De La Salle, and almost beat Amador. Judging from the scores tonight, Heritage and especially Berkely did not deserve to be in NCS.

The first 7 teams are correct. After that, it’s a toss up. I diagree with you about DII. Yes Campo lost to MV at FH tournamemt in a very tight 3 games. I think the first game was cap out at 30s and Campo in control the second game, and third game was a close one as well. After pool play, MV lost every games. this tell me that Campo game vs MV was just a fluke and Campo was under estimated MV. Campo went on to the final and lost to St Pats. MV lost to the following teams that Campo beat, Acalanes, College Park, MSJ, and St Pats. DI schools are on the down side this year as DII and DI (St PAts only) are getting better. Deer Valley lost to St Pats twice and Campo beat St Pat at their place in 5 and lost later at FH Tour. Therefore, Deer valley is sitting at 3rd seed. San Ramon is a up and down team. Lost to College Park, ST P, MSJ in which Campo beat. Cal High is ditto as SR (unpredictable). Overall, the ranking is nailed and Mat is doing an awsome job this year. Well allmost, earlier in the season, Mat mentioned that Alhambra was a sleeper team. Appearantly, someone forgot to set the alarm because they never wokeup.

I think the Div II schools are ranked higher than they deserve to be. I think Deer Valley and San Ramon Valley would defeat Campo fairly easily, and didn’t Campo recently lose to Monte Vista? Acalanes has only been tested in 18 matches, while most other teams have played 30+. Interesting you hightlighted one player, you don’t normally do that. Dougherty Valley has had fairly light competition, and Northgate?? I think they should all be brought down about 3 positions each and the Div 1 teams should be brought up leaving some room for the improving Foothill team. Still, thanks for all your work this season, Matt!

And MV was 16-16 overall, 10-11 in Division I games. They would have been in, and still should be.

Haha, ya, volleyball. My bad. Lol.
Rankings are way different than seeding. AV ended 2-0 and Cal went 0-2. You have to drop when you go 0-2, sometimes below teams you’ve beat.
If you look at any rankings, college football, basketball, etc… you’ll see teams ahead of teams that beat them. It just happens that way.
