Ohlone College women’s basketball player Sabrina Swayzer, a Washington High graduate, has signed with Cal State East Bay.
Swayzer was a two-year starter at Ohlone, averaging eight points, two steals and two assists per game. She shot 30 percent from 3-point range and 40 percent from the floor. She was a track and basketball star at Washington.
Cal State East Bay’s women’s basketball team, under coach Suzy Barcomb, had a memorable 2011-12 season in becoming the school’s first team to advance to the California Collegiate Athletic Association playoffs. The Pioneers (12-17) bowed out with a respectable 46-43 loss to Cal State Monterey Bay.

Thank you for the nice story. I am an assiatnt coach at Ohlone and recruited Sabrina to come to Ohlone. She had a very positive impact on the 2 seasons she played and the program. She was a very hard worker with a great attitude. Thansk again and keep me posted on other related stories.

Sabrina is an outstanding young woman. Her development as a player at Ohlone make her a valuable addition for any program. It’s great that she’ll be utilizing her skills at a local program in front of family, friends, and fans. Go Pioneers!

It’s also nice to see the local junior college/prep stars going to the local university. Nothing wrong with venturing out to the beaches of SoCal or heading north, but the Pioneers are trying to build something special too. I like seeing the local schools thrive. When stars stay close to home, we can keep closer tabs on them.

Loved watching Sabrina play at Ohlone, so it will be great to continue seeing her play at East Bay.
