Okay Stacey I’m going to go out on a limb since much of this has been decided and you only have a couple of misses in your playoff outlook predictions.
D1- I’m going with Cal they have won more 1 run games this year than anybody.
D2- Concord Cinderella is in the house
D3- Odowd they hit and field better than both San Marin and Tamalpias
    D4-St patrick/St vincent

  • Prep Fan

Stacey? Must have meant Stephanie. Mckbooth certainly is going out on a limb or maybe even a twig, and isn’t going to be considered a frontrunner with these picks as no top seeds were listed. That would be a whole lotta Cinderellas and really shake things up to make the games more interesting for sure. Should be a fun finish. Cal has given AV their 2 toughest tests this year, but they must first get past Logan to get a 3rd bite at the apple.

  • mckbooth

Your right it was Stephanie:+). I didn’t see the James Logan game , but a heart beat away from being handled by Castro valley leads me to believe that their not playing off the hook and are ready to be upset. Cal pitching is great and they play well in tight games.

I think Concord plays a tougher schedule and is playing well late.

Odowd is a rematch of the 2010 Championship where Tamalpias no hit Odowd and lost 3 to nothing. Odowd will score not so sure about the San Marin team , but that is a weaker division than the HAAL from what I can tell.

It”s not all that far fetched , but that’s why they play the games.

  • Oh Yeah!

Wow, what a day! Who would have thought that the two top seeds are outta here in the D2…

  • randyc415

    Div 2

Concord will rep the East Bay in the Finals VS. Petaluma!

  • mckbooth

Well Oh Yeah! Mckbooth would :+)

  • Prep Fan

Yep, Mckbooth is on record for having picked the Concord Minutewomen in D2. Too bad the D2 finals are at a high school (San Marin). D1 finals are at St. Mary’s College and the baseball finals are at the Oakland Coliseum. I’m sure most don’t care where it is played as long as they got to the finals.

  • mckbooth

Yeah Prepfan I agree about the venues. It does seem that the girls always get the short end of the stick. I’m not sure what Stanford and Cal are thinking about. If you look at the Pac 12 Arizona, Arizona State , Oklahoma (ricketts’) Hawaii Ricketts and several teams in the final eight there are more than 10 players from the Bay Area. You’d think that this would give them some incentive to host all the final games at the same venue like they do in basketball.

  • Oh Boy

The Pac-12 schools can scout all the top prospects in one place at travel ball tournaments. So the incentive is more on NCS to put the games in one venue than pressure from colleges. And we all know priority #1 for NCS is profit margin….

I think what Mckbooth was getting at was that if the games are played at a venue like UC Berkeley, the players may be more likely to want to go to school there after having experienced it, as opposed to the scouting angle, although that wouldn’t hurt either. Playing a game at San Marin HS just doesn’t have the same cachet.

  • mckbooth

    Thanks Prep fan

  • mckbooth

Well 2 out of 4 is not bad. Revised predictions:+)
D1- James logan finds a way
    D2- Concord is playing well
D3- Dragon’s are going to score, tough against a home crowd , but the whole line up is hitting. They left the bases loaded 3 times before they broke it open. First time Odowd has been on the road for a championship game, the night before graduation.
    D4 St Patrick/ St Vincent
Championships should be at neutral sites, just my opinion.

  • mckbooth

James Logan makes mckbooth a profit. WOW

  • Prep Fan

Or a prophet, but for all I know you had some serious jack on the line and made quite a profit too.

  • Stephanie Hammon

Mckbooth’s predictions are looking a lot better than mine right now!

  • mckbooth

Yes that was pun intended :+)

  • Prep Fan

Good call Mckbooth. Great win and another NCS championship for the Colts. Congrats also to the Dons’ squad on a fantastic season.

  • Oh Boy

Heartbreaking loss for the Dons. A hair away from being undefeated and #1 in all the land and it just slipped away in the last inning of the year.

Sounds like a great game played by both sides. Just to be a part of it would be special.

  • Randyc415

Concord wins its Second NCS title in three years! not a bad start for Megan Coddington’s first three years at a the helm. Great job ladies!

  • Oh Yeah!

Oh Yeah… Great games this weekend! Amador Valley goes down, not a big deal. Logan has an awesome team. Concord, OH YEAH! Maybe next time these so called experts won’t put so much hype into one team, the one in the 94553. I am very happy for CHS, pushed down all year due to lack of competition. They stepped up… Maybe they give CHS some love sometime. Petaluma, very good team (great pitcher), had some bad breaks today.

Weird, D3 finals in San Marin, with San Marin as one of the teams. I thought it was to be at a neutral site…

  • SB Fan

@ oh yeah….First of all congrats to Concord but why take a shot at Alhambra? Alhambra should be applauded for playing up to face better teams in the NCS. They had a great season and came up just short against Petaluma.

Also, Alhambra won’t being going away anytime soon. I saw them play 3 times this year and they are a good, young team. Their SS is one of the best players I have see.

    Again, congrats to Concord.

  • Rocket123

    Really !!!

  • Rocket123

Have to speak up for the 2 schools in Alameda. How does Alameda and Encinal not make ncs. Alameda was in the championship game against Castro valley and lost 3-2. Alameda beat some very strong teams. And for Encinal, they battle with D-1 and D-2 teams and split with BOD. They went extra inning and lost to Acalanes 4-3. Encinal beat st.joe’s 14-00 and st joe’s beat Hercules twice 8-7 and 14-0. How can you pick Hercules and Albany over Encinal. Also, Alameda high destroyed San Lorenzo and you guys still pick San Lorenzo over Alameda. Who ever pick pick the ncs should not be involved with the ncs anymore.
