Boys Volleyball: Final Notes, Rankings, Standings

In each division, there was one team that was clearly superior to the rest.
In Division I, De La Salle rose above the rest once again. The Spartans have gone 76-4 over the past two seasons, not losing to a North Coast Section team, and this year being perhaps even more dominant in only dropping four out of 71 games played against other NCS teams. Last year, the Spartans were pushed in the playoffs as MSJ took them to five and DV played them in four hard-fought games, but this year it was a clean sweep through the playoffs.
In Division II, Campolindo was the No. 2 seed, even though everyone knew they were the top team. And they proved it, playing perhaps their best volleyball match of the season in the finals, winning by a combined score of 75-44. The Cougars got pushed by Acalanes, as many expected would happen, but they got through it and rolled in the finals.
In Division III, it was always going to be St. Patrick-St. Vincent, and that is how it went. The Bruins might have been the best team in their division by a wider margin than DLS and Campo in their respective divisions. Valley Christian fought valiantly, hanging around in the last two games, but St. Pat’s went the whole season without dropping a game to a Division III school.
Rankings
The final order is complete as De La Salle and Campolindo establish themselves as the top two teams in the East Bay. Mission San Jose is now a great program, reaching a second NCS final and finishing No. 3 in the East Bay. Deer Valley drops one spot as the rest of the rankings remain static.

Congrats to DLS, Champolindo, and St P-ST V. Which of the three teams will 3-peat? DLS lost key players and other D1 schools are on the rise. Campo also lost key players, but with their sophmores and Freshman that they had this year, they have the best chance of 3-peating. ST-P/ST-V, they have their outside hitter coming back. In D3 there are not too many competitions there. Therefor STp/ST-V will 3-peat as well. Next year, there will be Nor-Cal playoff. I would love to see how NCS teamns measure up with other sections.

Hey Matt, when do you think you’ll have your All East Bay team up?

Hey Jeffrey,
I’m working on that as we speak. I think it will be published in about a week and a half, to two weeks.
