Ohlone College men’s basketball coach John Peterson has been named head coach of a United States’ all-star team for a Men’s National “B” Team Invitational Tournament in China, June 28-July 10.

Teams from Lithuania, Germany and host China will also participate in the busy 12-day event in which teams will play nine games in three cities, Liuzhou, Taiyuan and Guangzhou.

Peterson’s assistant at Ohlone, Justin Carter, will be his assistant on the trip. The U.S. “B” Team is composed of players who were recently cut from the London Olympics squad or who are future national team members for the 2014 World Championships or 2016 Brazil Olympics.  Peterson said the Chinese Invitational will have an Olympic-style format with opening ceremonies, a parade of teams and national anthems.

“It’s a great event,” Peterson said.
