Moreau Catholic is the school to watch out for. They moved to MVAL and have a young team consisting of 1 freshman, 5 sophmores, 3 juniors, and 1 senior. They have 5 returning players, three of which are sophmores Savannah Rosales Brand, Veronica Wilson, and Brianna King, junior Lauren Brown, and senior Remy Poau.
Rebuilding year but have been pulling out wins over Castro Valley, Berean, Mission San Jose, Washington to name a few. It will be interesting to watch as the season continues.

You are correct Matt, the one-set match does not count towards NCS record. It was an end of the day agreement between two coaches/teams, taking into consideration the length of the day (7:30 AM-7:30 PM) and the physical wear on the girls (several injuries). And for those who are TRULY interested, they have two other opportunites to face each other, 10/11 at CVHS and 11/1 at BHS.

Oh wait, I have Washington losing to Foothill, Cal and Salesian. I’m pretty sure those were all matches.

Thanks for the info on Washington. I will update that.

The one-set match does not count towards their NCS record, per NCS rules. It’s too bad for Berkeley, because that is a good win.

If both teams agreed to it before the match started, then why would it not count?

Also, nothing big, but Washington is only 0-2, not 0-3. The match they played against Amador Valley was a scrimmage.

I don’t think it will count as a match. Plus I don’t like it when teams do this. They signed up to the tournament and should expect to play it out. If I am a host I would not allowed it and would not invite these teams back. Why bother just flip a coin and they all could go home.

At the end of a long day in Albany, Castro Valley and Berkeley elected to just play 1 set to 25 rather than 2 out of 3 games. Does that 1 set constitute a “match” for NCS concern?
