We all need to step up, More Volunteer Coaches,More Facilities, Make Varsity,Freshman and JV sports Part of the PE requirement if There are On Campus Coaches and or a Certification For Coaches to teach PE under direction of a Credited Teacher. Bring Closer Bonds with High Schools and Pop Warner. Close civic programs that are not working and divert Funds to Youth programs. For sports we just need the facilities, equipment and qualified people that have the time. Equipemnt for the most part is already available as well as facilites. Assemble a community Youth Board to admisiter funds but has a open policy so we can see where every penny goes.And year round mentors! Keep them Busy and Interested! Jet Pride!

Crenshaw High in LA has an alumni newsletter that has reunions and fundraisers. OAL alumni can raise money with sports reunions, hall of fames, class reunions, football nites, car washes, etc. Does each OAL school have a newsletter or website for sports and students?

How about White reaches out to the Cal football team and the Raiders and gets players involved. Assign a few players to each school to mentor the hs athletes.

How about a police athletic league? They used it in SF for boxing. The mayor needs to get involved instead of playing around with oakland occupied. The mayor can headline and lead some fundraising. The mayor is not doing enough.

ok, valid points, but we are not going to solve the social problems of oakland on this blog. there are other cities with the same problems that are fielding teams- socal- ex. crenshaw.
oakland A’s and raiders can step up but money needs to be reserved for sports. i believe the raiders gave 54 k to the district but don’t know what it was used for.

8 man football is an excellent idea. The focus needs to be on salvaging the OAL in any way possible. It cant fold- the individual HS’s would not succeed on their own I don’t believe.

THE PROBLEM RUNS DEEP I GUESS U START BY GETTING THE DRUGS AND GUNS OUT OF THE COMMUNITY
stop momma’s from selling the EBT cards so the kids can eat!!!
OH YEAH MAKE THE 1% PAY THEIR FAIR share in taxes so we have after school programs with mentors for the less fortunate… U cut every program that would make a kid turn out 2 be a decent person then complain about the outcome
