That too bad about Houston. Could that be why he was still in there throwing passes in the last 2 minutes against Cal last year in game #10, despite DLS leading by 21 points? To see if he could still throw the ball despite pain, and see if he could handle the playoffs? I sure hope that isn't when he got hurt. He's a good kid, and I wish him the best at Wisconsin.

At what juncture was Houston injured? A labrum issue would lend credence to a year recuperating. That's a tough deal with three other frosh QBs, a redshirt frosh QB and three upperclassmen Badgers.

While Zolintakis will not make people forget about Stephens anytime soon, he is now 11-0 as a starting QB at the JV & Varsity level. As expected, Macy didn't ask too much of his Junior QB, but he did complete a 50 yard pass in the air in his first drive, and finished it off with a 7 yard keeper for his first varsity TD. He showed great poise and though conventional wisdom has Campo not going as deep in the playoffs without Stephens, Zolintakis will have 3 more games under his belt by the time playoffs start.

Even without Stephens, Campo will be favored in their last 3 league games against Dublin, Alhambra & Dougherty Valley and have a chance to go 9-1 heading into the playoffs. Best case scenario puts them in the #4 seed unless they are positioned behind either BOD and/or Analy which could drop them to #6. Who knows, if they somehow make it to the semi-finals, I guarantee neither Marin Catholic, Cardinal Newman or El Cerrito will be too happy to see them.

I saw the Campo/Las Lomas game tonight. Even without Stephens, Campo looked pretty good. Their O-line was pushing LL around and the passing game was generally short but effective. Zolintakis did a very good job of managing the game.

On the other side, I don't get LL. They come off a big win and have a unbelievable opportunity to topple Campo, but they come out and play like they're hung over. Also, Campo owes a big debt of gratitude to the LL coaches who gave them an easy 7 right before halftime. About 1:45 left and LL gets the ball inside their own 20. Instead of running the clock out and taking the lead into halftime, they get a penalty, throw a lame pass, then get an intentional grounding call. Finally they punt from the back of the endzone giving Campo great field position with over 1 minute left. Campo capitalizes and goes up at the half.

Considering Stephens handed off the ball the last 2 series in the 4th quarter of the Miramonte game when the game was essentially over, the "injury" did not happen at that juncture. In fact, the injury was to his left (non-throwing) shoulder.

Though Zolintakis did not QB in the Miramonte game, he has quarterbacked in 3 of the 6 games Campo has played this season. Zolintakis's primary postion has been safety though he did catch 4 passes this season in limited time as a wide receiver. Campo has depth at the WR position, but will need to find someone to fill his spot at the safety position.

Finally, Brett's younger brother Jack is a sophomore and is the JV quarterback. They currently are undefeated as well. It wouldn't surprise me if they brought him up to back up Zonlintakis on varsity.

The youngest of the three Stephens brothers is current QBing the Frosh team. In HS FB these type of injuries really take there toll on a team. Not only does Campo lose Stephens but they lose one of their best WR and it will be interesting to see if Macy let's Zolintakis continue to play DB? One injury and Campo has three holes to fill.

You don't leave the star QB in when games are decided late in games. Bart Houston was pulled on many occasions. He suffered a shoulder injury and had an operation after the season, thus redshirting this year at Wisconsin. A lot of people were ragging on Bart but he most likely was playing somewhat hurt.
Campo coaching staff, should have the backup ready and he should have been taking lots of snaps in some of those blowouts and deciding games. He is their future for next year. Who cares what Mr. Stephens wants in not coming out. Who's the coach- Macy or Stephens. For the player's health and welfare he should have been taken out. Did the trainer see that? Is there a doctor on the sidelines? That's all MiraMan is saying.

VOR,

I didn't know that. Check this out...

Mira had Ross Anderson for at least part of 2009, 2010 and 2011. Mira now has Drew Anderson (no relation to Ross) who started against MC and will likely retake the starter role once healthy. So you could say Drew Anderson for 2012 and likely 2013. Then his younger brother Ryan Anderson currently freshman QB will likely be the next varsity QB for 2014 and 2015. What's that, 7 years of Andersons?

I certainly wish Brett the best and hope he is healthy enough to play baseball in the spring. His record as a varsity QB the past two seasons is a sterling 19-2. Not too many QB's at any level can make that claim, unless your name is Bart Houston.

It must be "All in the Family" at Campolindo with regards to their quarterback situation. The only 2 names that have played the position the past several seasons, including this fall are Stephens & Zolintakis. Brett's older brother Tommy was the QB from 2007 to 2009. Brett and Nick Zonlintakis shared QB duties in 2010 and now Andrew Zolintakis will QB the rest of this season and next season. That will make 7 years.
