Something needs to be done my kids worked to hard to be sitting at home !!!

  2. EBfootball Says:

    What happened JB?

  3. WACC Coach Says:

Where is Arroyo? They deserve to be in the playoffs!!

  4. NCSNBL.com Says:

Clayton’s schedule was tougher than Rancho’s so I guess they deserve the #1 seed. I’m surprised Arroyo didn’t apply, only 12 teams in Div. II just seems off. Good luck to Mt. Eden!

  5. Tri-City Dude Says:

This should be a good bracket, as there will be a new winner in D2. I think anyone of the top 5 teams can win this thing, with Newark and Dublin as sleepers. Looking foward to some great games.

  6. TJ Says:

well Coach JB did you even apply?

  7. Oh Boy Says:

    http://cifncs.org/sports/football/files/verificationnew.html

According to NCS website, arroyo failed to file any at-large application to the playoffs.

  8. jD Says:

That is too bad. Arroyo kids deserve to be playing. Why would Washington have to travel to Las Lomas? Lost to the Cal, Logan and Oak Ridge..only bad loss to Newark. 6-4 travelling to 4-6.

  9. Moreaufan2 Says:

awwww man, what happen?? Come on dons!!!

  10. hoodboy Says:

I dont know if I am looking at it wrong but it looks like Berkeley and Mt Eden didnt apply and they got in. Whats really going on?

  11. hoodboy Says:

Oh nevermind. Yea I saw it wrong. Arroyo screwed up

  12. The_415 Says:

Livermore (2-8) and and LL (4-6) the NCS is watered down…. not everybody should get it in… seems like a joke!

  13. MiraMan Says:

I like the brackets overall for DII, but Las Lomas seems out of place. The only “big win” they have is over Dublin and Dubling is 5-5 and skidded pretty bad the last 5 games. I think both DFAL teams could see a first round exit: Dublin against Livermore and Las Lomas against Washington.

By the way, I think Livermore absolutely deserves to be in the playoffs; DII in the EBAL is brutal, plus they play DLS and Consumes Oaks. Not suprised their 2-8, but they might be a good as all but 3 or 4 DII teams.

  14. FootballFan Says:

Can someone explain where do we find the real ranking for DII, just saw the DII brackets of the playoffs, so whats on MaxPrep is false? I understand Clayton had a tougher schedule (who gave them their schedule in the first place?) On MaxPrep I see there were other schools I thought would be in the playoffs but did not make it but had other school like Las Lomas and Livermore were ranked lower than them like Windsor, Hayward… I’m sure it was planned to have “new winners” as they placed Concord in the same brackets as Clayton. Thinking that Concord is placed 3rd. Are we going by point average or are they just placed in spots like how NCSNBL.com say: “Clayton’s schedule was tougher than Rancho’s so I guess they deserve the #1 seed”. If that’s the case, its not fair for any teams. I’m sure there are other teams in the same situation. I guess it’s politics, nothing changes.

  15. C_MON MAN Says:

Arroyo kids deserve to be PLAYING IN THE PLAYOFFS …. This some bs .. livermore took they spot

  16. TJ Says:

Nah cuz, they arroyo coach did not file they papah work. They coach screwed they playaz cuz.

  17. Tri-City Dude Says:

Arroyo claims that they did file the paperwork, but I think the paperwork either is incomplete or it just got lost somewhere. Whatever it is, Arroyo is talking with NCS to see if they can let them in the bracket.

  18. chalktalk Says:

    u mean 2 tell me
    u lose eight straight games
    the last 8 games u played and u get a 9th seed
    congratulation!!!!!

  19. mvalfan2 Says:

What 2-8 and you get a 9th seed???? explain that one please???

  20. TJ Says:

Livermore would destroy the other seeds behind them, it makes sense.

  21. JK Says:

Livermore didn’t take anyones spot. Its not their problem that they are stuck in EBAL that is all DI schools. So it only takes one DII win to get in and their schedule is harder then any other teams in DII.

  22. C/O98 Says:

Any upset predictions? And what game has the best chance of being an upset. Also which game would be the biggest upset?

  23. mvalfan2 Says:

I like Las Lomas beating Washington. That would be an upset based on seeding only to me

  24. C/O98 Says:

But LL is the higher seed

  25. FootballFan Says:

They should redraw, allow other teams to play that deserves to be in this bracket. I don’t understand how you drop #1 Rancho with record of (10-0) over #2 Clayton (9-1), Concord(8-2) with Casa Grande (7-3)… so on? Again NCS is playing around, I don’t care who played in harder games, lets be fair and go by the records. Obviously NCS controls everything, no one else does. Lets redraw and allow Arroyo and maybe add more teams to play.

  26. NCSNBL.com Says:

Straight record doesnt always matter. Just because a team is 10-0 doesnt mean they get a higher seed over a team that is 9-1. Clayton played a tougher schedule in a tougher league than Rancho. I’m a Rancho fan so dont get me wrong. Clayton has better wins even with the loss to Div. I Pittsburg. We should let it play out.

  27. DFAL Fan Says:

Dublin had a rough season because of inconsistent coaching. Among other things, head coach couldn’t decide on a QB, and ended up going mostly with an untrained sophomore instead of the more experienced senior. Couldn’t figure that one out.

  28. HAAL Fan Says:

North Coast Section Division 2 1st Round
    *league champ

    Friday 7pm
    #12 Mt Eden-WACS 6-4 @ #5 Concord-DVAL 8-2
mt eden has its 1st winning season since going 8-2 in 2006 and is in ncs for the 1st time since either the late 80s or early 90s not sure. perenon should be coach of the year. concord has olito thompson one of the top running backs in the state and his night should be done by halftime.
    CalPreps: Concord 46-3

    Friday 7pm
    #11 American-MVAL 5-5 @ #6 Newark Memorial-MVAL* 8-2
played each other 3 weeks ago. Newark won 41-16

    Friday 7pm
    #10 Washington-MVAL 6-4 @ #7 Las Lomas-DFAL 4-6
both teams lost to good teams. i think this game should be in fremont.

    CalPreps: Livermore 27-26

  29. Rancho Mom Says:

    –name–overall record–league record–rating–strength of schedule

    1-Rancho Cotate (Rohnert Park) 10-0 7-0 36.1 6.6
    2-Clayton Valley (Concord) 9-1 5-0 33.1 6.3
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Rancho has higher numbers in all aspects so why does everyone keep saying C.V. has a harder schedule or higher rating?
Casa’s schedule was clearly harder than Concords at 11.7 vs 8.3 so that switch I can understand but bumping Rancho into 2nd makes no sense at all.

Yes I realize its not that big of deal to most people but to the kids who played their hearts out to achieve their perfect season its a HUGE letdown…

  30. TJ Says:

Perenon… coach of the year? I always figured haal fan had a mt eden bias lol.

They did coo this year but they DID lose to oakland… thats a black eye loss in my book.

  31. Big Dog! Says:

Rancho Mom is right. Rancho is undefeated, had better wins including a win vs. parenial power Cardinal Newman who is 9-1. Also, acording to Calpreps, the NBL is a tougher league than the DVL. The one common opponent was Montgomery and Rancho was beating them 34-0 at half and played 2nd and 3rd stringers the rest of the way while CV was ahead just 22-21 at half and had to play starter the entire game winning 57-35. Rancho clearly deserved the #1 seed and got hosed

  32. EB Football Coach Says:

COY should be Terry Smith for Shoreline and Fred Simms for Foothill.

  33. Prep Fan Says:

Rancho got hosed alright, but it shouldn’t matter. They & CVC were clearly the top 2 teams and should make it to the finals to meet at a neutral site. They’ll get NG in the semi finals while CVC gets Casa in 2 good East Bay vs. North Bay matchups if the seeds hold.

  34. MtEdenHomer Says:

Nobody can take anything away from what Coach Perenon did at Mt. Eden this year. He came in with a blueprint for success and stuck to it. However, I too have to say Coach Terry Smith should be Coach of the Year for going 9-1 at Tennyson. Regardless of what happens in the post season, it’s been one hell of a year for both of these guys. Hats off to both of them.

  35. Billjohnson Says:

What do u mean regardless of what they do in playoffs? There finally gonNa play a good team and it dont matter incrediable! I wanna see if rhey really turned there programs around or they a productive of playing in a crap league.they both better show up thiS weekend or will no are answer.

  36. MtEdenHomer Says:

Learn how to spell “incredible” before you can say something is “incredible”.

  37. Billjohnson Says:

Worried about spelling and not winning your are a loser. I know mteden cant win this week but atleast b competitive and prove your so called turnaround! Please no fifty burgers! Tennyson better win home game a loss means there season was phony ballony money!

  38. TJ Says:

Billjohnson, though you appear to be INCREDIBLY (lol) uneducated.. I have to agree with you, Tennyson and Mt. Eden both have something to prove this weekend. If Mt. Eden can be competitive I will be a believer. If Tennyson can win, I will be a believer. Anything less than that, they just played cupcake schedules.

  39. MtEdenHomer Says:

I’m a loser? You’re a fool. Any coach who can take a team that’s gone a combined 5 – 35 over the past four years and scrap out a 6 – 4 season definitely deserves some credit in my book. I would assume you’d think the same, but then again your math skills are probably on par with your spelling skills.

  40. Guru Says:

    Rancho Mom Comment #29:

Lets be honest here that it was a toss up which way NCS seeded #1 & #2 and either way wouldn’t have been wrong.

Claytons only loss was to a D1 school (Pittsburgh) in game 1 of the season and I applaud Clayton for scheduling a team like Pitt.

Rancho’s signature win came against Cardinal Newman which is a D3 school and no matter how good they are NCS still considers them a D3 school this year.

In 2008 Clayton was 10 & 0 and Cardinal Newman was 10 & 0 and NCS gave Newman the #1 seed which guaranteed if Newman advanced that the championship game would be up north which it was as Newman beat Clayton 17 to 7

The bottom line is if both #1 & #2 seeds advance to championship game they will get to prove who is best on the field.

  41. EBfootball Says:

couldn’t just leave well enough alone mtedenhomer. snuck into the playoffs with that cupcake b-league schedule and now you want to be coach of the year? please. your best win was alameda high and they couldn’t even qualify for the playoffs.

  42. Pawn Star Says:

    I’m with Mt.EdenHomer,
Mt. Eden and Tennyson had horrible records and were in the cellar of the old HAAL for years. Programs are almost never turned around in one season – it takes time to build the program back up, getting kids to play, getting them to buy into the program, and devising a game plan to win more than you lose. Sure if this was Encinal, Marin Catholic, Serra, De Lasalle then going deep in NCS is the goal. For these programs moving from losing to winning and making NCS are two good goals. I think you have to give credit where credit is due.

  43. hoops Says:

Care to list the 6 teams ME beat this year and their combined won loss record??For ME to 6-4 is a positive no matter how weak their schedule was but there is a certain reality to consider.

  44. Billjohnson Says:

ill let mteden do there talkin on the field cant wait to see the score to see how good you really are. Whats mteden non league looking like next year? More cupcakes or you ready to take of the training wheels and play someone besides albany or oakland.

  45. C/O98 Says:

I belive most schools do 2 year deals that said only game to change next year would be Richmond. I’d list Piedmont as there best win they finished 5-5 made playoffs and beat Alameda they also beat a Moreau team that beat Mt. Eden. Also how does a team that’s 3-27 over the last 3 years get blasted for having a “soft” schedule when playing teams with identical if not better overall records over that same period.

  46. DVAL Fan Says:

Concord should get by Mt. Eden no problem. However, Olito Thompson needs to show the olito of 2011 if they are going to advance far in these playoffs. He has often looked sluggish and slow as compared to last year.

The real matchup will be a trip to Casa Grande. Concord SHOULD be seeded ahead of the Gauchos yet they will have an opportunity to prove it when they travel to petaluma. It will certainly be a tough test!

  47. Crazy Says:

Just heard arroyo will not be playing. Looks like the AD and Head coach drop the ball! Not surprised the NCS didn’t help them play because it is for the kids right? I think the hole thing is a joke. You have to apply to get in. So I hope every team learned to double check. We should all learn from Livermore and play one sorry Division team. So now we know how to get in play a higher division. No one should be made a Livermore just that they know how to bet the NCS. Livermore win it all!

  48. YoMama Says:

Olito is not the best back in concord.

  49. billjohnson Says:

C/O98 im not knocking them for playing a soft schedule they should there weak thats my point THAT’S A SOFT 6-4!

  50. Prep Fan Says:

Joe Protheroe of Clayton Valley is leading the NCS in yards (2091) and yards per carry (15.84), despite having 50% less carries than the other 2 more heralded RBs who attend school in Concord.

  51. Brock Galvin Says:

Olito is still probably the better back honestly. He has two pac-12 offers and 5 overall. Protheroe is absolutely amazing. However, the scheme that he plays in has always (under Murphy) produced gaudy numbers. Meanwhile, Concord was a passing team before they got Olito Thompson.

Not trying to take anything away from protheore, he is a complete stud. But Olito set the NORCAL record last year and teams have obviously been keying on him. Throw in the fact that it appears he got a little lazy. And the fact that Concord tried to use a balanced attack this year. One year after giving the ball to olito over 300 times!

All that being said, I would be intrigued at a CV vs. Concord rematch. Yes, the first game was a complete blow-out but i think Concord would give them a scare. Similar to how CV beat Concord in the playoffs in 2009 after getting killed in the regular season (46-

  52. MtEdenHomer Says:

Billjohnson, You’re right. Mt. Eden will do its talking on the field and I apologize for getting riled up like I did. All I’m saying is Coach Perenon did a good job at Mt. Eden in getting a winning record out of a losing program and turning the culture of that place around.

  53. MtEdenHomer Says:

Hoops, I said Coach Smith should win Coach of the Year honors.

  54. Billjohnson Says:

Terry smith coach of the year no way! Hollow 9-1 record if you dont agree look he got the 10seed ncs wasnt fooled. A loss on saturday will prove there season was as fake as a 3dollar bill!

  55. hoops Says:

It will be interesting to see who ME plays next year.I agree it was a challenge to go 6-4 no matter what the schedule considering how bad the program had become. The challenge now is do they have a real program and play decent teams or do they load up on the Richmonds and MT.Diablos of the world.
Some coaches believe in scheduling the best competition and some believe in scheduling automatic wins.It is a philosphical choice and coaches usually go one way or the other, and they have their history if they have been coaching for 20 plus years.

  56. Tri-City Dude Says:

I think that while Mt. Eden did not play the toughest scehdule ever, it still takes good coaching and a commitment from the players to perform well and win games. For a team that has been known as a perennial loser for many years, this would be a step in the right direction for the Monarchs. They will probably lose badly to Concord, but they can build on this season and the playoff berth for the next few years. How they decide to use this will determine what kind of program they will be the next few years.

  57. MtEdenHomer Says:

It also depends on how many years are left on the contracts with the schools from this year’s schedule.

  58. FootballFan Says:

CV wasn’t the only school that played a DI team, other team played against DI like NG & Concord, so shouldn’t they be seeded higher than the other team above them. If they say its the reason why CV got bumped to #1 and Rancho got bumped to #2?

  59. FootballFan Says:

Just heard that NG had a non-eligible player, play during the season, when he wasn’t cleared by NCS. Yet NCS ignored it? What’s going on?

  60. lancer4life Says:

Mt.Eden got smashed by Tennyson btw.

  61. Prep Fan Says:

FootballFan @58, who’s to say they didn’t already bump up those teams a seed higher due to their scheduling? It is hard to get a handle on what really goes on with the secret committee, except it’s pretty obvious they rely heavily on head to head results.

Concord had 2 nice D1 wins over AV and Heritage and I’m sure that factored into their seeding, but it seems NG’s loss to 5th place Antioch would have hurt them rather than help them (Rome).

  62. Azcdno1 Says:

If that bracket was anymore watered-down it would be an ocean are you kidding me 2-8 and playing in the playoffs. Really’!!!!!!!!!!! NCS come on!!!!!!!!

  63. C/O98 Says:

What’s the point spread on tonight’s games lol

  64. wacc@1 Says:

How do 8 Alameda players make 1st team that league is a joke…

  65. C/O98 Says:

Wacc@1 where did you get that info? How many did the other teams get?

  66. C/O98 Says:

What’s worse Alameda only had 8 selections. There qb got first team over Tennysons qb and I don’t think he was even under center when they won there 1 league game I call BS

  67. Big Poppa Says:

Did Charlie Davis or any SLZ wide receivers get 1st team?

  68. TJ Says:

Cuz Alameda has talent.. their coaches are just bad at football lol.

  69. coach l Says:

8 1st teamers and you only win game in league! the moyers are terrible! wow all this talent and he still begged to be in the b league!
