Prep football recap: Not a lot of surprises in Friday’s NCS football playoffs

There were a number of lopsided games in the first round of the North Coast Section football playoffs, including big wins by San Ramon Valley, James Logan, Pittsburg and Concord. Bishop O’Dowd survived in Division III play with a 16-13 win over Acalanes.

Pittsburg’s Harris Ross (pictured above) led the Pirates to a surprisingly easy 55-29 win over Monte Vista in Division I play. He ran for 269 yards and four touchdowns. Pitt’s win avenged a 44-12 loss to the Mustangs two months ago.

Sorry typo on the Encinal part they finished the regular season 5-5 and are currently 6-5 after last week’s win.

At this point it is what it is! Bottom line you gotta beat DELA to move on or win NCS. Some say it’s better to play them in NCS champ game – I say let’s just play preseason, reg season, playoffs, NCS title game, in a mud field on bailey rd. I don’t give a rats azz!

All I know is we Pitsburg get our shot tonight, in 5hrs and 40 mins. This is what we play for all year, you better knock us the F out DeLa cause were not just coming to your house to show respect were coming to earn some!

May the good Lord keep everyone in the game healthy and capable to play to their highest abilities. Amen!

    They aren’t 7-5, they’ve only played 11 games. 10 regular season and 1 playoff.

@ voice, I’m not a pitt fan but i do think you have a point. that freedom game beat you to the 9 seed. can’t believe that. so if pit beat freedom will freedom get the 9 seed. ABSOLUTELY NOT !! Pittsburg got robbed !! This is the championship game !!! Pit needs to keep the ball away from the spartans.. keep that running game going !! Good luck Pit !!!

    @umm

why would you seed pitt above cal, logan, srv, av, mv and foothill? No one is really making a case. the combined losses are to cal, mv and av when it comes to the BVAL. i been saying for the past few weeks going into seeding that the freedom loss against AV would come back and sting them. I don’t like foothill above MV/Pitt but they ended up beating MV in a head to head.

your other non-league games won’t matter if you don’t handle your games against division teams! that just makes like cal, mv etc look like they can handle the teams you beat if they beat you!

and on the comment if pitt did beat freedom. it would get ugly for freedom as pitt would probably seeded 7 or 8 and freedom would be right below them with foothill or MV mixed in somewhere. point blank is that the only BVAL win against EBAL foes is foothill who only really beat MV…

Everyone gives pitt credit for blasting MV though.. no one is taking that way from them. But there’s a reason why the league champs like berkeley are ranked in the double digits too… all about head to head when it comes to seeding. and rank pitt above logan?? please we beat the same foes but romped 2nd place SRV in the EBAL.

    Perkin,

Clearly, the 7-5 record is incorrect as it assumes the Castlemont game and Vallejo game were both played by Encinal. Whoever got that info likely just took it off Maxpreps which is incorrect. Even a forfeit is a game “played” and a team is only allowed to play up to 2 games every 8 days. If Encinal insists on counting both games then they would be in violation of CIF rules.

Basically, when Encinal took the Vallejo game they were cancelling the Castlemont game. Encinal’s correct record is 6-5, but I’m guessing you already know that.

MiraMan, You are correct but it is on the Calpreps bracket and also the Newspaper group gives us credit for the win. Just a mistake is all. Jet Pride!

Sheeesh, you guys really believe that NCS goes off of Maxpreps. I hope not. Standards have been.set. Logan was granted an 11th game when forfeited by the Oal. I’m sure the samething happened here

I’ m on my way downtown to enjoy a brewski and the fact that tonight Tenorio and the Jets will get massacred. I wish I was there to see the dirty unshaven face of that loser who thinks he rules the island. Please keep the updates flowing. Go Jets! Try to keep the clock from running that will be your goal tonight.

    Island Chief-

    You’re a fairly ridiculous person.
