Former Monte Vista High basketball star Brian Barbour reached a significant milestone at Columbia. The senior guard scored 19 points to reach 1,000 for his career in a 54-42 victory over American last week. Barbour became the 25thplayer in program history to reach 1,000 for his career.
Barbour scored four straight points to surpass his milestone and spark a 10-0 run to put Columbia on top, 20-14.
At Monte Vista, Barbour (6-1, 175) of Alamo averaged 19.7 points and 6.0 assists as a senior. A two-time team captain, he was a three-time all-EBAL selection. As a senior, he was an EPSN/Rivals All-State pick and made the all-Northern California squad.
Interesting tidbit: Barbour stood 5 foot 5 as a high school freshman.
